Changing the Cover–The Shadow Elf

So some of my fans wanted me to add dragons to the cover. I have a dragon familiar that is small and then the large dragons they ride. So I figured either would work. And it does look more like a mythical fantasy like they are.

Well, I need to get back to the Christmas book today. I did manage to do 4,000 words yesterday. It has murder and mayhem, like most of my books, so I was thinking of how I could take out the murder and make it another issue, just so it’s a little more Christmassy. I had to get the murder story out of my system. Maybe I can use it for another story. If I leave it like it is, I only have 1K to go!

Anyway, got to get to work on writing.

Have a super, fantastic day.

Recreating Covers

I wanted to redo some covers, or buy some artists’ covers if I could find any that would suit a couple of my stories that are already written, but I couldn’t find one I liked for The Shadow Elf, so yesterday I worked on a new one of my own. I had made the first one 11 years ago and I’ve learned a lot about Photoshop and compositing since then!

Now I’ll have to see what else I have that I need to rework! But I’m still trying to finish up USF Christmas. The cover for that one is still a work in progress, but nearly done. I’m hoping I’ll have the United Shifter Force Christmas novella for the anthology finished by Sunday night and can start editing it! Over halfway done! 🙂❤ Coming December 7th, 2021

I managed to get 2500 words yesterday on United Shifter Force Christmas so I’m up to 13,500.

At 5:30 this morning, it’s supposed to be 80 degrees and 7% chance of rain. The weatherman needs to wake up and change the forecast. It is POURING. Yay! Love it when it rains.

So I have my granddaughter for the next two days. She’s been missing me since I haven’t had her since last Thursday. Even though I pick her up from school every afternoon, it’s not the same as staying the day with grandma. Her mom made the mistake of teasing her about staying the night with grandma and she had a fit when she couldn’t. lol Grandma was still trying to get word count on the book last night. Today, and Friday I probably won’t get much done at all.

Okay, well I’m up early, so need to get some stuff done before she gets here!

Have a beautiful day! Mine started out fun with a great storm that, according to the weather service, isn’t happening.

vampireinmydreamsI loved this review too, by Jonathan Thurston!! for: The Vampire…In My Dreams! “The steamy, masculine vampire… the far from confident, pretty young girl… Familiar elements? Not in this thrilling novel. Terry Lee Wilde makes a stunning addition to the realm of young adult vampire literature by incorporating witches into the mix.

Marissa, an average teenage witch, lives in the shadow of her best friend (and often role model) Kate, who believes the tall, dark stranger in town is a vampire. What unfolds when the mysterious stranger falls in love with Marissa sends all three of them into a struggle against knife-wielding human test subjects, vampiric pizza delivery guys, and an ancient vampire who has a claim on our studly hero and wants Marissa dead.

Terry Lee Wilde breaks a lot of tradition with this book by putting vampires back where they belong: in the realm of mystery, seduction, masculinity (as opposed to sparkling), and dare I say a little terror.

And I loved this review by Cassandra Lost in Books: I think this is like Star Trek meets a Fae realm.  It is a really cool idea.  I’m wondering if there will be more of either the Elven World or of the Overseers.  I will admit though as of right now I’d still want to slap the Overseers, but you will have to read or listen to see why.

Persephonice starts out kind of fragile with grief, but she becomes strong, and I really loved her as a character.  She encounters so much trouble and overcomes all the stereotypes that she has been filled with out races who are full of passion.

Dracolin is a fierce warrior, and he is not sure why he is so drawn to Persephonice.  There is lots of adventure and several men who need to be slapped, but it was a very enjoyable story 🙂 http://closkot.blogspot.com/2014/10/audiobook-review-shadow-elf-by-terry.html

How did it get to be Thursday already??? What happened to Wednesday?

Tile men are still here. They’re grouting today. And I’m off to work. Hope you have a lovely Thursday. I’m still wondering where my Wednesday went. Has that ever happened to you???

Green is the Life-Giver

Think of it. It’s cool, the trees of the rainforests of the world, giving us so much of the oxygen we breathe and the plants we use for medicines, even cancer medicines. In the rainforests or jungles, you can find every shade of green from lightest to darkest, from yellows to emeralds to grays. Emerald, my birthstone, my favorite gemstone. Oh, sure, diamonds are a girl’s best friend (besides Highland hunks, cannot forget them), but emeralds are grand.

The cover artist who did this cover reflected the green of the jungle to give the whole picture a green look–as he’s in the rainforest of Belize, just like where some of our last wild jaguars roam freely.

Mage of Monrovia

She wanted to be a school trained mage…but everything stands in her way.

Green has a soothing effect as in this cover. It ties us to the earth, reminds us of rebirth, the new spring leaves, the new green grasses. Freshly mowed grass smells green, doesn’t it? Many of our vegetables are green, the darker the green, the better for us.

Though I usually think of parrots in colors other than green feathers, here are a couple at Moody Gardens displaying their many shades of green feathers from yellow to neon green.

A touch of green storm. Have you ever seen a green sky? Beware! Hail is on its way!

And of course Christmas means red and green.

Shadow Elf

She’s not supposed to be abandoned on the elves’ planet.

If I could, I would turn all the deserts of the world green.

And here are some of the clan bears I’ve made. Note: many Scottish clans have green and blue, as the significant colors in their tartan.

fall lake swan Scotland (2) (800x600)

Even with the fall colors, Scotland was green.

And there you have it. Green is calming, makes a building feel tethered to the land when surrounded by green. It gives shade in the hot, hot sun. It gives us oxygen and breaks up the blandness of a cement city, but green has it’s darker side too. Stormy green skies, beware. Don’t eat food that has green stuff growing on it! Green at the gills means you’re sick. Green with envy, well, you’re envious. Green means money.

But mostly for me, it’s a serene color that provides a tranquility–like walking through a green forest on a hot summer’s day. Or playing in the grass with a puppy. Or counting all those green dollars in your wallet. 🙂

Have a lovely green day–well, in the spring. 🙂  Do you like green?
