Yellow Climbing Roses

It’s been really hard on the flowers here because of the intense heat and no rain.

I finished proofing Deadly Misfortunes and I’m working on the next process. 🙂 And then I’ll be back to The Chosen Fae.

Don’t Mess with the Big Cat!

Or the little boy! His pal is super protective.

I was listening to a video about a woman who had been attacked by a mountain lion. The two women had seen an abandoned bicycle, and that should have been a red flag. It was in California, and on a biking trail where no one was in sight. Then some distance from there, one of the women was attacked. Her friend was pulling her leg, trying to keep the mountain lion from dragging her friend off into a ravine.

Some other bikers heard the screams and were up on a hill. They had rocks but were afraid to throw them at the cougar and hit the women. The one said, “Throw them or he’s going to kill her!”

And so they did. Then finally, one of the rocks hit the cougar in the back hard enough, that it ran off. A helicopter took the woman to a hospital and she was saved. But when the other woman mentioned finding the abandoned bike earlier, investigators searched the area and found the body of a man.

They’ve had many deadly encounters with hikers and bikers facing down cougars. Humans are easy targets.

It’s wonderful hiking and biking in beautiful remote areas, but it can be dangerous!

I’m back to proofing Deadly Misfortunes. Ten more chapters to go. We have 100s for the next 2 weeks, no break in the heat and no rain.

Fun Fall Fantasy

It looks like we’ll have hot weather through October. ugh.

But the good news is that I’m at 61,000 words on The Chosen Fae. I still have a ways to go, but it’s “almost” done.

It’s been so hot, but I’ve been just getting a little weeding done first thing in the morning, and I have to cover myself in insect repellent because of the vicious mosquitoes. But it’s getting there, slowly. The main problem is no rain.

The grandkids have been so eager to decorate for fall and Halloween; I let them. I was too sick to bother last year, so doing it early this year works!

I’m off to write!

Storm Clouds, Thunder, NO Rain, Argh

Every day we have these and no rain. We desperately need it!

Up to 46,000 on The Chosen Fae! Have to give blood and then pick up the grandkids so probably won’t get much done today on the story. I have them on Tuesday all day and then they start school on Wednesday! It’s so early here.

I’ll pick them up every afternoon, which is a blessing, since last year I was too sick to do it.

Humongous Mushrooms!

I don’t know why, but I love mushrooms. I took my grandson to the turtle pond after swimming and caught sight of these huge mushrooms behind a bed of flowers! So cool.

I reached 40K on The Chosen Fae! Woohoo! I usually write about 60 to 65K on them.

Good news is my blood counts are pretty good. But I’m going to have to be on chemo until November of 2027. Ugh. At least. Every time I think I’m going to be off it, they tell me I’m going to be on it for another year. I started in Feb of 2025. It’s to give my bone marrow time to rebuild so it can fight off the cancer, the nurse told me. It’s an aggressive cancer, so, sigh.

I’m hoping to pull more weeds today, they have taken over, but it’s soooo hot, it’s hard to do. And the mosquitoes are voracious.

Cardinal Baby and Momma

So I had my LONG, LONG, LONG day at the hospital yesterday. At least I don’t have to do that again for 4 weeks. But they told me I’ll probably have to be on chemo for another year to allow the bone marrow to build up.

Sigh

I’m working on The Chosen Fae, did edits and filling in scenes. It’s up to 35,000 words. Yay!

Okay, got to get to work. Had my Hep A final shot, so I think between that and being at the hospital where they collected 14 vials of blood, I’m tired.

Need Relief from the Heat!

I’m going to proof more of Deadly Misfortunes today. It was exciting to finish it! I’m up to 24K on Jaguar and 26K The Chosen Fae.

So I got my shingles shot yesterday, but then I wondered if I should have. I’ve had to get ALL my immunizations all over again, but if the stem cell transplant donor never had chicken pox, maybe I shouldn’t have gotten the vax.

I can’t contact her directly, so I sent an email to a nurse to see if she could learn the truth! I had to get a prescription from my doctor to get the shingles shot. The pharmacy is like you already had it so you can’t have it again. I explained that all my vaccinations have been eliminated with the transplant.

So then I asked if I needed to get a prescription for the second dose. The pharmacist said that my doctor might not require me to get a 2nd dose. They don’t get that I don’t have any immunity from the first shots I had. lol

Okay, I’m off to work!!!

A Little Whimsy for Monday

Deadly Misfortunes is set in Texas and they have a booth at one of the fairs a couple of times in the story. They might not have a circus atmosphere, but this still reminded me of the fun of the fair.

I’ve been writing non-stop on Deadly Misfortunes. I love when that happens. I was really working on it until late last night, couldn’t quit. I’m getting closer to the end. It’s up to 77,000 words. I would be working on it this morning, but I have to go in for blood work, ugh.

Learned the kids go to school in two weeks. For some reason, I thought it was closer to four weeks. So my granddaughter and I have to get all our swimming out in that time. Pool closes, despite the heat, when the kids go back to school. Lifeguards go back to school is the reason.

Deadly Misfortunes–Still Trying to Reach the END

Yesterday, I wrote 6,000 words on Deadly Misfortunes! And reached my minimum word count goal. Now I just have to finish it!

Taking my grandson to the pool this morning. It will feel like 95. I’m trying to teach him to swim without a life jacket. He’s doing pretty well.

Off to work.
