Almost nothing Would Grow Here!

Several of these plants are volunteers. The pine tree in the back left corner by the fence was there originally, part of the old growth forest before the homes were built. There’s a holly bush behind it that is also a volunteer that must have been in the old forest. The Magic Purple Crepe Myrtle on the far left in the foreground is one that I planted. the rosebush that you can’t see except for one orange flower on the far left behind the purple crepe myrtle I planted. And the Esperanza that makes beautiful trumpet like yellow flowers is behind the purple crepe myrtle, near the center of the photo and in the back at the bottom some red miniature roses that need to be moved so they do better. Everything else, the hot pink crepe myrtles, other pine trees, youpon holly trees, those are all volunteers.

Those are filling up areas where nothing would grow. Nothing. Now I have a bonanza of color. Never give up. Never surrender. They just needed more shade to do well in this hot environment.

It’s great for color, helping to soundproof the yard a bit since we’re all so close to neighbors, creating a little slice of paradise, making it appear that we’re not all on top of each other, and providing more shade, and safety for birds.

Have a super fun day! Need to get started on mine!

Macro Crepe Myrtles

They were white…or were they?

I have no white crepe myrtles in my yard, and neither doe anyone else close by, and yet one day, a volunteer began to emerge. This is the first time I’ve seen it covered in flowers. 🙂 <3

They looked ice white but then I thought they looked like they had a tinge of pink.

The wind was NOT cooperating. Have you ever had that problem? The model stays still for you, but the wind makes it dance? Crepe Myrtles are just like they sound, like crepe paper, fluttery and crinkly. So even when I held the branch and took a shot, the petals themselves were fluttering in the breeze.

I love the flowering parts of the crepe myrtles. These are on a red one.

Do you see what I see?

Do you see what I see?

Is that a white flower about to appear on a red crepe myrtle? I will check it out today and see if it has emerged. There are no others on any of the red crepe myrtles. This happens once in a blue moon. 🙂

Okay, working on a Steampunk Bear for a boy and on 3 different rainbow bears, and working on Jaguar Christmas, and am behind….but lots of other stuff going on. Hope to concentrate on it today. 🙂 I usually have lots of action in my writing. It seems silly to drive all over the country in search of evidence when they can just make a phone call about the situation. On the other hand, just making phone calls doesn’t get the characters into what would feel like real-life action.

I remind myself, the beginning is never the beginning. That I have to work through the characters a bit before I can “see” what’s going to happen.

Soooo, I write, and then I rewrite to get it right. Right?

Have a super wonderful day! It’s hot in Texas. Which means I have to work even harder to envision cool in Texas in Jaguar Christmas. 🙂

Interesting Life is All Around Us–Do You See It?

My crepe myrtles are in full bloom and they’re beautiful.

But what REALLY fascinated me was this:

crepe myrtle decorating the spider's web (640x427) crepe myrtle flowers caught in a spider's web (640x427)crepe myrtle in the spider's web (640x427)

What in the world is it, you ask?

Life decorating life.

Crepe myrtle flowers caught in spiderwebs, hanging there like decorations. Every night, the spiders remake their webs, not at all happy that the crepe myrtles are adding non-bug populations to their bug nets.

But I find it fascinating as each morning as the wind blows, the webs are again decorated in flowers.

How cool is that?

Do you ever notice cool things like that?

Have a great day!!! Back to working on Billionaire in Wolf’s Clothing! Over halfway done! 🙂
