I finished the novella, but stalled on writing the promo blogs and have to figure out a plot for the next book. I really wanted to get the blogs done today so they’d be out of my way, but…..my brain is on hold.
When I captured the shot of the flame skimmer dragonfly, the sunlight was hitting it just right so that it made him look like he was etched in gold. The zinnia is a candy stripe, and it’s the only one that has shown up from the package of seeds I planted so far. It’s soooo cute. And the gold zinnia is just as pretty.
So yesterday, I took my granddaughter around the whole neighborhood, and holding my hand, she actually ran part of the way. This is good, exercise and wearing out, yes! And we spent 2 hours at the pool. She has always been afraid of getting her face wet, and she’s been afraid of the water, so it’s like taking itty bitty steps. She let me take her into the deeper water and with my hands under her tummy, she kicks and paddles a little. But this time, she also was in the shallow area and had her hands on the bottom of the pool and was allowing her body to float. So she’s getting more confidence. Hopefully, by the end of the summer, she will be doing better. And she napped for 2 1/2 hours. Yay!
I have so many different colors of zinnia, I took her by each of them and asked her, “What color?”
She got the yellows right. She began to say pink on all the pinks. She said the reds after I showed her the first was red.
Okay, today is MY day, which means getting that other promo blog done and getting back to word count!
Daylilies in bloom, from a gold with burnt orange center, to peach with a darker peach center, to the regular yellow daylilies, to purple, darker peach with a wine center and red with a yellow center.
I love daylilies. They come back each year, bigger and more beautiful than before. I was on a plant identification site, trying to figure out what a plant was when I came across a seed sharing forum and they were mentioning daylily seeds. Daylily seeds? Now that intrigued me. So here’s a site where they talk about it and it has a link to a seed sharing site also.
I’ve had a lot of volunteer pine trees, crape myrtles, yaupon hollies pop up in my yard. But I haven’t done much in propagating my own flower seeds to create new batches. Until a couple of friends began sending me some of theirs. But now, I’ve tried to propagate yellow ligustrum by sticking the branches I needed to trim back in the yard, and yep, some of them are beginning to take hold and leaf out.
I’ve tried this with roses, and haven’t had much success, but I think I’m going to give it a shot again. I really love seeing the new plant take hold and I don’t even need to go out and buy another!
Another idea I hadn’t thought of was cross pollination and creating your own cultivar! Just think! You could create a beautiful cultivar of your own, name and register it. Shapeshifter Goddess. That would be the name of my beautiful cultivar. lol
Granddaughter’s on her way and I’m sort of running this morning. Had to shut the computer down to get my internet to work.
These are a pretty purplish daylily that are having a field day! And the other is a watercolor version of them.
I’m WAY behind on word count on Billionaire because of having to edit the other book and write the novella, sooooo, I have to get cracking. 30,000 done, 50,000+ to go, and it’s due July 1st. At 2,000 a day on days I don’t have my granddaughter, it’s going to be tight, again. Next book, I’ll finally have more time. I hope. In July, I have another release, and that means more promo, and I haven’t even worked on the promo for the book releasing this month. Ugh.
Have a super, lovely day. I think I hear my granddaughter at the door!
From my son who is having fun in Italy with his wife on their honeymoon.
We’re having a Mother’s Day dinner tonight, Mike cooking!
If I can find miniature roses, I’ll start a tradition of giving them to my daughter and to me each year like I did with my mother and I. Only they never lived. But the ones I planted here are doing great, so here’s hoping!
Got distracted and was doing a million things. Okay, I’m off to write before we celebrate Mother’s Day!!
Ranunculus flowers in bloom. First came the red, and they’re still blooming. And now the purple. But the weather has taken a dive. But it’s warming up again, then cold next week and warming up. I like the warming up because it makes it the perfect weather before the heat settles in.
I only got 1,000 on the word count yesterday instead of at least 2,000, but I was working on taxes, and that takes days. I always tell myself I’ll get better organized in the new year and it won’t be such a mess by the beginning of the next year when I have to start this all over again. Ha!
I was reading an article on not beating yourself up about stuff. I agree! When you feel down about something you’re doing, your work, your appearance, your life, think of two things positive about yourself.
I find that doing something nice for someone else can make me feel better. Say something nice.
When I was at the grocery store with my granddaughter the other day, a man offered to take my basket and return it to the store for me when I’d unloaded everything but her from the basket. It’s the kind for kids, so he wouldn’t have used it. It was a nice gesture. I was so surprised and really appreciated it.
I had my hands full of books to ship and a man hurried to open the post office door yesterday. I do that when I see someone who needs help, moms with little kids, older people, both with baskets or kids. It makes me feel better because they appreciate it so much. Just doing something so simple as that can make someone else’s life less complicated for just a few seconds and yet can brighten their whole outlook for a bit.
I was feeling on cloud nine yesterday, maybe in part due to having a peppermint mocha, did you know that peppermint can make you feel better? It does me! Anyway, they said not to get the safety inspection done on my car until April, so I will wait on that. But after I shipped my books, I ran into a different grocery store for a couple of things I forgot to get and this store had 90% off on their Valentine’s stuff. Wow, a big ostrich and monkey and assorted soft pillows to play with for my granddaughter’s birthday , and two little items I can use for my bears for $3.50? Perfect! Yep, I was on cloud nine.
I’m off to write or work on taxes, it all has to be done! Probably both. Hope you have something fun to do today! TGIF!
That means your house has good insulation, right? I was shocked to go outside and find it was 71 degrees out first thing. It is winter! Strong wind blowing, felt great, walked back inside and it feels like I have the air conditioner on. I don’t, but it felt like it. The temperature will drop again, but it’s just such a shock to be this warm, this early in the morning! In winter! My flowers think spring has sprung. I’m afraid we’re going to get a shock and end up in the Ice Age one of these mornings. Flagstaff, Arizona had the first major snowstorm, 36 inches of snow, they’ve had in 104 years, so, no telling!
I’m 2,000 words ahead on Wolff Brother and I hope to keep up the pace if I can. The more ahead I get, the less behind I get when I have to do more edits on other books that need final proofing and whatnot. And then I can start on the next deadline book.
African daisy and coreopsis in bloom!
So my friend tells me that her weather app shows it’s going to rain. Mine shows fog. I took the dogs out and got drenched. Her app was right.
Have a super lovely day. I’m writing while I’m drying out. So much for weather reports!
Well, the butterflies are still fluttering around. The honeybees and caterpillars can’t move until it warms up a little in the day.
I managed 2100 words yesterday, some on The Witch and the Wizard and some on Woodland Fae. I can’t let go of either book. I keep thinking about both of them. They’re both about 13K shy of being finished. I have to run a couple of errands today, then it’s back to writing. I’m also setting up the formatting for Darkland Elf, one more beta reader to read it over it, and I’ve got to add a dedication to…??? And then it’ll be ready to publish. After 8 years of working on it, it’s time!
Okay, I’m off to write!! It’s 35 degrees out, which is cold for us. Have a great day!!!
