Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

The 4-leaf clover is actually a photo of one of the 4-leaf-clovers I’ve found in my backyard. I’ve only found one other in the backyard. Now my granddaughter is trying to find one. Good luck with that. I had to keep looking at this one to make sure it really, truly had 4 leaves.

I’m off to write. I have only one more scene to go on Huntress Unleashed. But I need to edit it a few more times also. I always edit as I go along because I change my mind about things, or I forget I mentioned something I want to write further on. Then after all those edits, it will be time to proof it.

We were supposed to get rain all day, now, we’re not, so I’ll be outside painting and planting.

We’re having corned beef, potatoes, carrots, and cabbage for dinner tonight for St. Patrick’s Day. It’s time to celebrate! Well, actually every day is time to celebrate.

Black Swans

Swans typically mate for life. They’re beautiful birds. I took the photo of these at the Waco zoo, Daily Texture background.

I am off and running this morning. Put dirt in the grandkids and my new flowerbed containers. Now my granddaughter can move her fairy village into it and my grandson can place his little animal garden stakes in there. I need to find garden dinosaurs for him. 🙂

Swans

Took the photo of the swans somewhere. lol Then added a Daily Texture background for this one.

I’m getting closer to being done with Huntress Unleashed. I’m working on proofing the beginning again and will do that throughout the book so that I can catch mistakes and see what things I mentioned but then never followed up on.

So this week is spring break–which means I’m having trouble figuring out which day of the week it is. Usually, I have my grandson two days, pick up my granddaughter from school afternoons five days a week, and so that keeps me grounded.

Do you ever feel that way when you’re off your regular schedule?

But I am trimming trees and removing weed trees in the backyard. Though the youpon holly tree (a weed tree that I let grow for privacy) is full of flowers and that means honeybees. So I was trimming up underneath it to allow for more light to the rosebush and purple magic crepe myrtle below it. I’m keeping the top of the tree that rises maybe 6 feet above the 6 foot fence. I also have a ton of weed crepe myrtles, so I’m trying to keep some, but trim the branches that criss-cross, so I have just a multiple main trunk. I DO NOT top the trees which ruins the look of them and weakens them. I’m cutting others down that are just growing up everywhere. They have such beautiful flowers and all of the trees are starting to leaf out.

Youpon hollies are kind of unruly trees, growing oddly, not just straight up, but I love them for their tiny white flowers in the spring, tiny evergreen leaves, shade in our hot Texas sun, and hardiness in this area. The crepe myrtles provide shade also and a nice leafy barrier. When I first moved here, I only had 3 pine trees in the backyard, and one died so I had to have it removed. They were native to the forest that had been here. So there wasn’t really any soundproofing. Now with all the vegetation I have, it’s much more soundproofed I’ve noticed. My burford holly that had been under the front windows I moved when they were little and they are now over 6 feet tall against the back fence. That provides a lot of noise reduction.

When the Griffon is Your Friend

You never know who might be your best friend in an enchanted world. Maybe one of the most feared creatures will be. Protective? Loyal? You bet.

Which Path to Take

In the real world and in fiction, all kinds of different choices are available. But which path is the one to take? When I’m writing about characters in a book, they have to make all kinds of choices. Some can lead to resolution, others lead to way more conflict.

Sometimes what seems like the right path turns out to be the wrong one. As the characters discuss it among themselves, they choose a direction to turn and then…they never know what to expect.

Speaking of which, my hunters are entering a vampire club, so I’ve got to see where this takes them.

Facebook Takeover Coming Up–Feb 28!

I was trying to figure out what to post for Lori Foster’s Facebook page and I came up with 4 print books to give away, 4 blogs, and some pictures of photography/artwork/my dogs, etc, to show what I love. Besides writing, of course. So hopefully those work. They were due by noon today.

I’m going to try and put fertilizer down today, just need to see if the sprinklers work. I’ve actually put out granules in the rain before. Works great! But no rain in the forecast for forever. The weeds are growing great though! And the backyard grass is growing too!

So today I’m going to concentrate on Huntress for Hire. I worked on it last night and managed 1,000 words, but also had to do all this other stuff for the takeover tomorrow. I also have the toddler tomorrow, so I’ll be juggling stuff, but no trips to the store because of it. And probably no writing.

Okay, I’m off to work! Have a merry time of it today!!!

I believe I took the original photo of him in Waco. They have a smallish zoo, but I love it and like the Omaha zoo, parking is great. Not so in Houston or San Diego! 🙂

Little one is here today. I turned in Mated for Christmas, yay! I worked a little on Huntress edits last night. I need to do the blogs for the Lori Foster gig. And the taxes. ugh.

So my fountain was empty and I had the brilliant idea of not carrying buckets of water out to it since we aren’t getting any more freezing weather, probably. And I hooked up the hose, turned it on, had a little water, and then nothing. Wait, what? I checked the spigot in front, it was fine. Water is fine in the house. Now what?

Okay, I’m off to get ready for little one. Hope your day is astounding!

Peacock Portrait

I took the portrait of the peacock close up and then mixer brush painted it. They are such gorgeous birds. This one was in Hawaii.

I was working on taxes and only managed to get 1,000 words yesterday on Huntress Unleashed, but hopefully I can catch up this weekend. Maybe. But I’m getting there slowly but surely.

Still pulling up that nasty bur clover that has popped up in the front yard. The grass isn’t even growing yet, the the weeds are already trying to take hold. 🙂 So trying to take care of it before it’s overwhelming.
