Nature’s Beauty

rainbow, trying to create (640x427)

Oftentimes when I water, I see the miracle of a rainbow forming in the sunlight, and I think how much I’d like to capture it. I absolutely had NOT planned to take pictures today. None. Not one. Okay, one. Of a rainbow. Well, maybe more, until I could capture one just right.

You see, rainbows are tricky devils. They fade just as you take the shot. Here I am, juggling the hose and the camera and trying to see if the rainbow is even in the picture. It was, but I couldn’t tell, or sometimes it would fade right out of existence before the camera finished focusing.

rainbow with hose (2) (640x427)

rainbow over the cornfields (640x427)

The top one shows more of the rainbow. The second one, the rainbow at the top had nearly disappeared already.

You know that a pot of gold is at the end of a rainbow, right? But would it exist if you create your own?

creeping vine hummingbirds (640x427)

Wolves and cougars have been found to help keep a balance in the wild or animals such as herbivores, elk, deer, goats, will eat up the vegetation to the ground, and then other wildlife can’t take cover and lose their habitats. And what has that to do with these pretty flowers? While I was out watering the other day, I saw these bad, bad flowering vines. They are weeds. They creep over everything and in this case, they’re climbing over a variegated privet, pictured above with the rainbow. But twice now when I’ve gone out to water, a hummingbird has flown close to my water spray. And I thought she was coming from the cornfields, which I couldn’t understand. Unless my neighbor has a hummingbird feeder.

But no, she’s coming for the nectar from these flowers. Sometimes “weeds” are miracles in disguise.

creeping vine, tubular flower (640x427)

Hummingbirds love tubular flowers.
creeping vine waterdroplets (640x427)

Nature’s hummingbird feeder.

desert willow flower (640x433)

Desert Willow

I planted these because they don’t mind heat and drought, only now they’re not flowering. But the hummingbirds are attracted to them when they do flower.

So the weed, which seems to be more reliable,  stays. Sometimes humans just need to leave nature alone.

Don’t you agree?

Now, if I could only capture a shot of the hummingbird!

Have a glorious Monday!

If I’m not taking pictures, or making bears, or writing books, I’m getting ready to go to my Facebook Party for the release of Hero of a Highland Wolf!

crathes flowers (640x480) bt

I will be taking everyone on a Crathes Castle and gardens in Scotland  tour this time. We couldn’t take pictures of the inside of the castle, but we could take pictures of the gardens from the castle, and then we paid also to visit the gardens and I have lots of those too. It was in October, and the fall colors and the flowers were in full bloom, and the grass was spectacularly green–just beautiful.

Castle below is Dunnottar.

I have a million things to do today. I reached 53,000 on Call of the Cougar, 17,000 words to go. I will have my notebook with me and maybe can write some on the plane. Camera battery charged, new disk, I’m all set!

Hope you all are having a lovely weekend!

🙂 <3

Buchanan Clan Bear–Sold!

Buchanan Clan Bear (640x582)Here is Buchanan Clan Bear and he’ll be off to his new home soon. He’s wearing the ancient plaid of the Buchanan. Working on Armstrong Clan Bear today and a Navy bear. I still have a stack of orders to get done. I’ve ordered tartan fabric for two more bears, blue fabric for 2 more, and another wants purple. 🙂 Plus more. 🙂  Wilde & Woolly Bears

I only got 1,000 done on Call of the Cougar yesterday, but finished two Buchanan Clan bears, and am halfway done on an Armstrong Clan bear. 🙂 I hope to get 2,000 done on Cougar today. I had an idea of the near end scene, but still 17,000 or so words to get there. I might just write the scene and then go back in and write the rest of the story to get there. Sometimes I have to do that because a scene will come to me that isn’t in the perfect linear order. I actually was sewing up bonnets for the three clan bears when it came to me. I had to stop what I was doing, and write them down. Or I’d forget it!

Thanks, Åsa Maria Bradley, for sharing this photo! Love it!!! This way it’s not just my word we ACTUALLY rode “home” in it. Had fun with you and Cheryl Brooks and Mia Marlowe Connie Mason! Cheryl is to the left of me. And I’m the one who is all smiles. 🙂  <3 Having a ball.

Cheryl Brooks and Terry Spear, photo by Asa Maria Bradley at SB dinner

But I’ve also been trying to come up with the plots for 3 more stories, and have one for a jaguar Christmas story, and just about have one for another SEAL wolf story, and then need to write another Silver wolf one.

Aloha On My Mind–Kim took a picture of several of us signing, which was really nice because I can’t take pictures of me and I never think to ask anyone! This is for Literacy and raised $53,000!

And another 5 star review!!!

HeroOfAHighlandWolf

I give this book 5 stars.

Well done, once again Terry Spear you have given us a book that kept me engrossed from the start to the finish, so much so that I read this book in one day. This is about an American woman that inherits a castle in Scotland from her family and a pack of Highland wolf shifters that live there.

And I’m here with an interview at Authors Interviews!

watermelon crepe myrtle (640x464)

Watermelon crepe myrtle in full bloom.

crepe myrtle volunteers (640x402)

Two crepe myrtle volunteers in between the big ones. Everything is looking so colorful!

brown cornfields and crepe myrtles (640x427)

A view of the crepe myrtles, storm clouds, that didn’t rain, but at least made it cooler, and the cornfields, ready to be harvested. It sounded like the wind blowing through a forest the other day, or ocean waves, the way the wind blew through the dry cornstalks.

Off to get ready for the writing and bear-making day!

Have a super lovely day! It was only 87 yesterday, and it was beautiful. Supposed to be 100 or close to it most of next week. 🙁
