Do you ever find you spend way too much time looking for stuff when you need to work on something? You have to put it all away so that if someone is coming over, the place isn’t such a mess? And then you can’t find anything when you need it?
Well, I was thinking I needed to organize my bear supplies so I didn’t have to shove them in all kinds of hidey holes in the event someone was coming over. The problem is that I make bears nearly year round, having huge spurts of business, and then slow downs. So if I put it all away, the next thing I know I’ve got a bunch more bear orders. Then I’m searching for everything all over again. It’s not my income. Even though it’s a business. It’s just something I love to do. But I don’t like how it makes my house look like a wreck–well, in the family room where I live. The rest of the house is neat.
But I want the family room to look that way too.

Bear tags, ribbons for the tags, and cards for the final shipping of the bears. Oh, and the puppies thinking it was time to eat.

After getting organized. I still have the bears in a plastic tub that I’m working from. I might get another box so that even they can be hidden away.
I already had all the plastic boxes I fit inside the boxes, only I had to organize them because I had everything mixed with everything else and spent tons of time always trying to find what I needed.
Now I can better see if I’m running out of some materials. Otherwise, I’d think I had tons of something, and lots of orders, and wait, what? No eyeballs? So this should help me with inventory control also. 🙂
I still have fur to cut out, but at least for all the other bear making supplies, this will keep them better organized, and dust free too!
Do you need to be better organized?
These were on sale at Michaels and were only about $8 per box for the bigger ones, less for the smaller ones. So I’m thrilled.
Have a great day!
Now that I’m organized, I need to get back to writing and work on two bears that are waiting for me in that plastic tub!
🙂 <3

Terry I swear I’m the Queen of Disorganization. I have books scattered all over every surface in the living room, where I work. The front bedroom is beyond entry because of everything thrown in there when I had to move it into a room. Then there’s the kitchen a total disaster area. I have boxes on the table I’ve never unpacked, quite possibly the dishes I never found and have made do with paper plates-lol.. I need a person that has organizational skills to come over and help me. I don’t care if people tell me just do one thing I stare at it and go not today maybe tomorrow. And you know what they say about tomorrow. It pretty much equals never.
LOL, makes me think of Gone with the Wind. 🙂 I will think of it tomorrow. Sometimes, I feel overwhelmed. But I take it one step at a time. You should have seen the jumbled mess of embroidery thread I had. So when I began organizing related colors in the plastic tubs and put them away in the box, I was thrilled! And then the brass buttons. I use them for the Celtic bears. And the joint fasteners. Everything was all mixed up, in different boxes, a total mess. And it was taking me tons of time looking for stuff. Can’t find it? Have to buy more, then I’d find it. When I was a kid, I loved to organize my dad’s tool chest for him. All the nuts and bolts, etc. But when you have no place to put stuff, it just gets thrown everywhere.
My daughter has a neat rule. If you bring something into the house, like you buy an article of clothing, get rid of one, or more. I keep trying to clean out stuff because I have way too much clutter. But the same with clothes. How many times do you pull something off a rack, and say, hate the color, the fit, the style? And stick it back in the closet. Or, it’s something really nice, and I’ll probably wear it someday. But that someday will never, ever come. So I’ve been getting rid of those items a little bit by little bit. : ) Because it would kill me to just do it all at once. But if I don’t see it, I don’t miss it because I never wear it anyway! 🙂
Another neat rule, if it’s been boxed up for over a year, it probably isn’t something you need. (Disregard this concerning your dishes. lol)
I have a motto for this>>>
“A place for everything and everything all over the place”
It works for me lol
LOL, Tom!! I like that motto. LOL 🙂
I’m very disorganized myself!!! I can’t get in our spare bedroom because it’s our junk room, just have a walking path cleared. I keep saying I’m going to do better, maybe now that the granddaughter is away at college, I’ll get something done! (Not holding my breath though)
lol, Martha. I have a room like that. I clear out a path every once in a while. It’s really a tiny room though and I store lots of stuff in there. 🙂
