Fog, Baby, and Bears

Babysitting day makes it hard to do a lot. But when she went home, I finished the last bear order. I have another to show off once the daughter’s birthday is passed. And I need to get permission to share a couple of the maternity photos when she’s seen them. I did take one of grandbaby and her daddy while she was watching the couple and their two dogs.

I still haven’t taken a picture of the bear I did last night. Today, it’s COLD, pouring rain, and thundering. So it will be pretty dark when I take the picture still.

Yesterday, it was pea-soup fog. Really thick even later in the day. I finally managed to get a couple of shots of the fog while baby was watching Llama Llama. And I captured her in the semi-dark, not much light, but it didn’t turn out bad. I’ve been walking her. She’s really strong, but at this point, she walks really well, but still needs to have me hold her hands.

I realized after looking closer at the maternity shots, that several of the photos with the husband looking in the direction of the camera had glare on his glasses. So I need to copy and paste his eyes from another photo where there was no glare. Thankfully, I had them move to a new location for some of the shots.

Today, I need to ship bears, and then I need to get back to the book!

Mohair Bears and Bunny

So I went to the maternity shoot, and the couple was so much fun. As soon as I got home, I had to go to a neighbor’s Super Bowl party, and that was enjoyable. Picked up another bear order. lol

I looked at some of the maternity pictures, and a lot of them came out beautifully. They wanted pictures of the two dogs too, so between them trying to get them situated, and the dogs being distracted, that was a challenge. But I loved the pictures with the dogs.

I’ll show off a couple soon.

Here are some more bears, but these are the more expensive mohair furs from England and Germany. In the old days, the US had factories that made mohair sweaters, but they don’t any more. So the mohair fabric has to come from Overseas. I love, love, love it, but the material is sooooo expensive–$135-150 or more a yard, and I can’t sell them for much more than I sell plush, which is $35 a yard for the special furs. Once I finish selling off the ones I can make of the mohair fabric I have left, I won’t be offering them any longer. But I do love them!

I hadn’t planned on making any word count yesterday, but I managed 1,000, so am up to 4,000. Seventy-six thousand to go! It might seem impossible, but I didn’t think I’d have 4,000 at the rate I was going!

And I finished up a purple bear that I’ll show off tomorrow. I have to wait until it’s light out to take a picture. 🙂

Oh, and reviews said that the 85mm lens was supposed to be great for portraits. I’ve tried to take pictures with it before, but they’re always way too dark. In the viewer, all I have is black scenes. I used it to shoot the mohair bears and bunny, but on automatic. I haven’t used the auto setting in eons, once I learned how to do manual. But…with this lens, the pictures were like totally black, no matter how I adjusted settings. Auto did a beautiful job on them. The pictures below are of Tanner, my perfect model as he always loves to pose for me. The first was with manual, indoors, and the second, on Auto, outdoors. Yes, the lighting was dark in the house, overcast skies so not a lot of light from outside through the windows. But when I tried to do the manual outdoors, it was still really dark pictures. So I used auto on the maternity shoot and they turned out beautifully. When I did my daughter and her husband’s maternity shoot last year, I think I used the 28-300 lens, they were soft. So these were nice and sharp.

Have to ship a bear and check on shipping costs for a bear to Australia, and finish another bear too! But I also have to get my word count. And go over the maternity shoot photos so I can send them off.

So off to get started. Yes, it’s 4 am….couldn’t sleep, too much to do. 🙂

One already sold, the other might have also. 🙂 And I have a lilac bear I’m working on for an order also.

3,000 words done on Howard’s story. I’ve got to think of a working title! And I have that maternity shoot this afternoon, so getting ready for that. It’s supposed to be warmer, cloudy, and no rain, so much better!

Super Moon and Teddy Bears

Baby is on her way and I have a maternity shoot tomorrow, but I finished my bear orders and promo blogs for Flight of the White Wolf. Now, I need to write the next jaguar story. Still trying to figure out the first meet!

The maternity shoot is free and I hope I do it justice. The young lady is a good friend of my daughter and set up her baby shower for her. I was volunteered, I didn’t offer. 🙂

She loved the ones I had done of my daughter and son-in-law, but we did it at the golden hour, and most of my pictures were soft. Still working on capturing clear images for people. 🙂 <3 I took those last March.

These are the bears I finished for orders. And I have another, but waiting on baby’s birth date. The supermoon was beautiful yesterday. Today, it’s hidden by clouds. And the other was the lunar eclipse, but I focused on the tree branches instead of the moon to show what was in my way as I was photographing the moon. 🙂

Super Moon, Blue Moon, Total Lunar Eclipse!

I had already taken the puppies out at 5 am, and then around 6, I looked to see what the weather was going to be like for the day because it was so cold that morning. Oh, oh, oh: Super Moon, Blue Moon, Total Lunar Eclipse started ten minutes earlier. By the time I got my camera and the right lens on, and ran outside, the moon was already eclipsing. Fast. And I didn’t have time to grab a jacket. It was 37 and COLD. I was out there for about an hour taking pictures.

No tripod to hold the heavier lens, so I finally ran inside, grabbed a bunch of boxes of bear fur, stacked them on a patio table, and, didn’t work. Ran back in and got some of my books and stacked them higher, and took steadier shots. On the one, I focused on the tree branches to show that the tree was in the way!! They turned out pretty cool. This morning we have all cloud cover, so I was glad we had a clear morning to see it anyway!

The wolves, I’m sure, were impressed.
