Creating Art from Photos

I’m off to type up edits and begin writing again next, but I had to play with some artwork first. You know. Just because I have to blog and I needed something new to post. Right.

Any excuse to play with photos, right?

I added several layers of water, two different kinds, sky, and texture. It’s not perfect, but I have 4 dogs I have to keep taking in and out and I have to get back to the real work at hand. But isn’t the artwork pretty?

I took the picture of the African ducks at a zoo and they just wouldn’t all look at me or hold still, yet it captures the essence of ducks, don’t you think? One grooming himself, two cuddling, another standing on one leg in rest.

In other news, Barnes and Noble is now beta testing an author bio page and guess what???? I was asked to participate. That rarely happens to me. Well…uhm, never. But yay! I felt honored.

Okay, I’m back to writing. Maybe I’ll take the dogs all out one more time. Kill milkweed bugs. And THEN get back to writing.

Leader of the Pack

I am. Really. The dogs love me. Rilo is a beta corgi, and he’s always sleeping at my feet. If I go anywhere, all the dogs follow me. Luna, the other corgi and Tanner the black havanese are the alphas. Max, the white havanese is the other beta and he’s usually on my lap. It’s pouring out, so they all did their thing this morning and wanted right back inside and it was so wearing, they’re all asleep. Sooooo, I’m off to edit some more!

I love the rain! I was so glad to hear it this morning. Rain? Really? We haven’t had any in weeks, and even when we were supposed to get some, we haven’t.

So I’m ready to dance in the rain. But I have to edit and write instead.

Always the work ethic.

Horrible Bugs in the Garden

Milkweed bugs–the juveniles. They’re horrible. Oh sure, they have families, they probably love each other, and I’m the monster, but they they will destroy milkweed plants that monarch butterfly caterpillars have to have to survive. These bugs go after the seeds that will produce new plants so I never have to buy new ones.

I haven’t seen this many milkweed bugs ever. It’s like they’re in plague proportions. I had been cutting off the seed pods and dumping the whole lot of them into a soapy water container. But since then, I’ve been just shaking the seed pods using a stick, and dumping them into the witch’s brew, and that’s been working.

I also have these. They’re milkweed assassin bugs but they’re NOT doing their job. I think there are just way too many of the milkweed bugs. I was getting rid of the mating pairs of milkweed bugs as fast as I could, but obviously I didn’t get rid of enough of them. The good news is that I THINK I’m getting a handle on them. I’m not finding the huge numbers on the seed pods. But I have to be diligent and every time I go outside with the dogs (I’ve gained two more, dogsitting), I get rid of more of the milkweed bugs.

Okay, the pack of dogs has gone out, eaten, gone out, it’s time to settle down and write.

Fairy Art vs the Real World

I’ve got to concentrate on my writing! *sigh* I’ve been battling bugs–show pictures tomorrow. Kids came over to finish helping me set up Windows 10 so it should be up and running when I have time for it. Kids are dropping their corgis off with me and then I’m having to watch them for the week. We’re going to the swimming pool first thing this morning, and then I’m dropping them off at the airport. So when can I write???

*sigh* I have to write! Hopefully the dogs will let me. That means I have to be alpha all the way.

Be the alpha. Take charge of your destiny. You can do it. I can do it. ha!

For My Birthday, I Got a Nightmare…

Okay, so let me explain. I had a Windows 7 and they said they were no longer going to support updates and so I asked for Windows 10 for my birthday. My SIL gave up on waiting for it to install last night, so I did what I could when it came up. But, I can’t get logged into my blog, I’ve lost several actions I use all the time on Photoshop, I can’t get my email uploaded on it, I’ve had to reinstall tons of stuff, and so I finally gave up and am on my laptop for the moment because I need to get my word count.

Other than that, the day is great. Don’t you love changing things out so that it’s new and better? Not.

When Fans Can’t Put the Book Down…
