Happy Mother’s Day!

Image may contain: one or more people, text and outdoor

My computer keeps freezing up, so making this a short message.

I was reading “Are You My Mother?” to my granddaughter the other day, and Mother’s Day reminds me of that.

My mom was great. The Mother’s Day Annual tea party that my daughter and Mother and I shared each year as we decorated hats and dressed up and had tea at the arboretum. My trips to Salado with my mom where we took long walks along the historical streets and visited the shops, always bringing home a gift for the garden or two. I set A Ghost of a Chance at Love in Salado because while I was walking those streets with my mom, I thought about what it would be like to be stuck in the historical past. We always had a sandwich at a tea shop, tried on clothes and saw antiques and artwork, and had ice cream in another shop.

We all went to Galveston Island and ended up in a tropical storm, but we had fun too swimming and visiting the glass pyramids and saw the tropics, the butterflies, the fish. We visited South Padre Island and had a lovely time. My daughter, Mother and I went to a new restaurant and they did a feature on us!

I’m off to feed the dogs. The kids might be grown and on their own, but now I have fur babies I have to take care of.

Have a beautiful Mother’s Day.

And stay safe!

It’s Saturday! I’ve Got to Write! But…

WordPress wouldn’t open for me! What’s up with that?

I was sick yesterday, sure it was food poisoning, but you now it’s always a question of…is it the virus???? Checking temperature. Fine. And I feel better today. But taking care of little one when you’re sick is not fun.

I’m off to write. I’m going to have to stop working on Red Wolf to do edits on Highland Wolf, probably Monday, so I’m shooting for 70K today, and maybe 72K by Sunday. Doing Mother’s day fun stuff on Sunday, so we’ll see.

Have a great day!!! Hoping you all are staying safe and still doing some fun things too.

Removing Fences in Photos in Photoshop

Image may contain: outdoor

I had just come across this cool video on how to do it and I was dying to use it to see just how easy it is. It was amazing and I’m going to try and do the same with some other photos I took that are really good, but the fence needs to go. I mean, it’s perfect in a commentary kind of way, but it really is nice in an artistic way to remove the fence.

I had dinner with the kids last night, so didn’t make my word count. I hadn’t expected them to invite me over. We played tag and I’m out of shape. lol

I’m up early this morning, little one will be over in about an hour, so trying to get the rest of my word count. I just need 600 more words to make my daily 2,000.

Have a great Friday, and stay safe!

Ack, It’s Thursday! Not Wednesday!

And I forgot to blog again first thing this morning. What is up with that?

I was out planting MAMMOTH sunflower seeds before it got hot. Totally forgot it was Thursday, and when I heard the sanitation collectors, I ignored them, wondering what it could be because it sure sounded like the garbage trucks, but now, it’s Wednesday. Until they got closer and closer and closer–oh, oh, oh, it’s Thursday! So off I make a mad dash to get the garbage bag from the patio that I had filled with grass and weeds and stuff, and the kitchen garbage and dashed outside. But wait, did they already come? Since I’d heard them earlier, I thought maybe they had.

Nope, the recycle collectors had come earlier. And the garbage collector was just around the bend. Yay! Out went the garbage and I saved Thursday, but as far as writing goes, I keep thinking it’s Wednesday.

Have a great day! I’m back to working on Red Wolf.

Get out a Good Book and Read!

Well, I was so busy trying to plant some hibiscus this morning while it was cool out and before it got hot, I totally forgot to blog.

I had picked up 4 of them at Home Depot. They only had 1 gallon size braided ones. I like them better because they’re easier to plant! I picked up one for my daughter for Mother’s Day.

Okay, I’m back to writing. I had to figure out who the parents were in Red Wolf and how they fit into the story.

Have a great rest of the day!

Hawk Fae Free on Kobo This Week!

https://www.kobo.com/us/en/ebook/hawk-fae

I’ve got to run, but just wanted to alert everyone that the Hawk Fae, middle of the series, they wouldn’t let me run the first book for free on the ad, is free this week only! It’s normally $3.99 and I have never reduced the book in price.

by Terry Spear

series The World of Fae #6

Synopsis

Sometimes doing a good deed can prove to be a disaster, Ena, dragon shifter fae, discovers as she must flee her home. But her staff chooses to go with her and deal with the dangers to reach the safety of the hawk fae kingdom, if the king there welcomes them. The human, Brett, promises to help her escape the marriage to the despicable dragon fae prince, rather than return home to his Earth world. And now all the dragon shifter fae are at risk of having to face the dragon fae king’s wrath.

Esmeralda, the hawk fae king’s sister has been imprisoned by the griffin on their island for half of her life and she finally makes her escape, only she gets herself into even more trouble.

Against her wishes, Ena must forsake Brett on the journey, and he finds his world is turned upside down once again and now he has to survive the life or death trials of the phantom fae kingdom.

Okay, off to run a million errands today, wearing mask, then not going anywhere for a couple of weeks.

Have a great safe day!

My Kids Have Become Instant Birders

Daddy bluebird
Mommy bluebird

Sort of. When a bluebird couple built a nest in the little fox birdhouse, that my daughter got only as a decoration–not even realizing it was actually a birdhouse, they had a fun surprise. Two baby bluebirds that are a real source of entertainment and their 3-year-old is also learning all about them.

Of course when I come over, I have to sit there and take pictures, trying to capture some fun moments.

Okay, I’m off to write. I managed 3,000 words yesterday, think I captured some good pictures of the redheaded woodpecker on the feeder this morning, and weeded, took my walk when no one was out and about, and…Max wants out again.

Sigh. After I take the dogs out again, I’ll get to writing.

Have a super fun and SAFE day!

Pelicans

So Texas opened businesses yesterday, and I stayed home. Of course. Over 63,000 dead in the States and it was nuts here yesterday.

Okay, so I admit, I got it wrong. I thought people would be more cautious, wear masks, do social distancing, at least for a while when things opened up. Forget that!!! Who let the people out of their cages?

My daughter’s coworker went to the grocery store yesterday and said it was nuts. I’m glad I went a few days before that happened. Crowded with people bringing whole families, all the kids, no masks. Another coworker had to drive up the interstate to see her brother-in-law in the hospital who is going through chemo treatment for cancer and the interstate was absolutely gridlocked.

Okay, so not enough testing, we really don’t have an issue, let’s all go back to working and playing as if nothing happened. Nothing is happening. Good. I’m glad we can live like everything is fine. Until everything is not.

I’d say use common sense. The problem is–going back to that earlier comment–no testing means we don’t have a problem. So common sense says–go for it!

I have to go get blood work done on Monday. Have to. Other than that, I don’t intend to go anywhere until I have to go to the grocery store again. And I’m wearing a mask. Will it be enough for me to do my part? I hope so. That’s all I can do.

I haven’t been reading the death toll. I haven’t been reading what’s going on about any of it because I can’t write when I keep hearing how bad it is.

I was visiting with my kids, who are also staying home, working from home, wearing masks and only going to the grocery store when they have to, and we were listening to two loud parties going on in their neighborhood–lots of people crammed together–having fun. It’s wonderful. I hope that everyone remains safe. That it’s over. Wouldn’t that be great?

We heard tons of sirens near where they live. I suspected it was a big vehicle accident–people crowding the highway, having forgotten how to drive.

I am staying home today. Again. And writing. It’s not that I wouldn’t love to get out and do tons of things I haven’t been able to, but…

Hope you stay safe too!

The Gorilla

Was he giving me the finger?

Anthropomorphism is the attribution of human traits, emotions, or intentions to non-human entities.

I do this with my shifter characters because they ARE human also. So they are cougar, jaguars, wolves, bears, snow leopards that are also human.

Okay, with that said, I’m typing up my edit corrections on Red Wolf before little one gets here.

I wanted to take her for a walk, but it’s so sunny already. She hides under a blanket because she doesn’t like the sun in her eyes. So we may skip the walk and later, if it’s warm enough, play on a splashpad. It’s supposed to be in the nineties on Monday and Tuesday. I’m so not ready for it. But at least it’s cooling down in the morning/at night so far.

Have a great one and stay safe!
