White Butterfly on Pink Flowers

I’ve been up since 5, so what have I been doing all this time????

White butterfly at Wild Kingdom butterfly exhibit.

I did manage to walk with my granddaughter and we went through three rain forests, aka sprinklers on showering the sidewalks. It’s already hot so we were looking forward to having fun in the sprinklers. lol

And I weeded, and I’m still trying to cool down, but now we’re inside until she plays on the splashpad in the shade. It was 103 yesterday, but we had a lovely day! I only managed to proof 5 chapters, and have 90 more pages to go. Hope to get that done today.

Happy Mother’s Day!

To Moms everywhere who have made our being here even possible! Love you, Mom! Even though she is gone, she will always have a special place in my heart for being my friend and for all the special memories I have with her growing up and after I was grown.

I’m off to the kids’ place to celebrate Mother’s Day this afternoon! I had an impromptu day of babysitting when their TV went out on them yesterday. The grandkids and I played on the splashpad and I fed them and they watched cartoons and I finally managed to get halfway on proofing Christmas Wolf Surprise. Yay!

So I’m busy at work, well, blogging, but also I’m proofing on the book before I go over there!

Blue and Green Darner Dragonflies

I love dragonflies–they eat my bad bugs.

So I alternated between taking pictures of my granddaughter playing on the splashpad and the dragonflies that were eating my bad bugs.

I saw a red one too, but it looked like he didn’t like all the competition for bugs and flew on past. But I could have told him there are TONS of bugs he could eat! Don’t leave. Please.

I managed to get my 2,000 word count yesterday on Highland Wolf Christmas, and proof 3 chapters of Red Wolf Christmas. So I’m working on more proofing today and maybe will get a little of my word count on the other book. It depends if I can think of something, or if I want to just get this other book proofed and turned back in. But I’m already 2,000 words behind on the other book. sigh.

All right, I’m back to proofing. Have a glorious day!!!

Butterfly on Flowers

Butterfly Garden at Wild Kingdom

My granddaughter didn’t want to go out much yesterday, though we did take one long walk. But afterwards, we did all kinds of crafts and were going to make cupcakes, no frosting. What? No frosting? So I need pick up some and get some groceries. We did a treasure hunt instead. And that was a lot of fun!

They’re talking about us having a repeat of the freeze in February last year and our power grid not holding out, only with temperatures getting too hot this weekend and having the same effect. Everyone involved in the electric grid issues should be fired. And whoever is getting kickbacks for this situation should be in jail.

I threw a bunch of freezer packs into the freezer that I wasn’t using and I’m going to make more ice to add to it, JUST in case we’re without electricity. We did have wild storms last night and that cooled it down considerably this morning, which is great. But they’re expecting mid and upper 90s all weekend and next week. And this is WAY too early to have heat that high.

Okay, I’m off to get to work on writing. I have proofing to do on the Christmas Wolf Surprise so I might not get my word count for Highland Wolf today. It’s also a Christmas story, so maybe “seeing snow” will make me feel cooler as I write and proof.

It’s All Black and White–Photo Art

So the challenge was to have an essentially black background and add white to it. Of course my black and white dogs were up to the challenge. I did consider a black and white chickadee but I used it for another challenge.

I managed another 3,000 words yesterday–yay! And got a better sleep last night. Little one will be here any minute, so fed the dogs, birds, got the garbage out. And getting to my blog before she gets here and I don’t get to it for hours!

I’m only 2,000 words behind. Yay! If I can get a 1,000 today after she leaves, I’ll only be a 1,000 short, since days I have her are free writing days. Sometimes I can’t get any done at all.

We plan to walk, read books, do some workbooks, maybe make cupcakes and play on the splashpad after a nap, and that should be our day.

Spring Flowers and a Butterfly–or Moth

It’s time to do monthly art challenges again. This one was for spring. I took the photo of the moth? Butterfly? At Disney’s butterfly exhibit.

Good day on getting my steps in again yesterday, even got 3,000 words on the story, finally!!!!! I’ve been either taking care of grandkids or too sick to think with this head cold, and I managed to at least be only 3,000 words behind instead of 4,000. I need to try and get another 3,000 today if I can.

Bird Stalker Cat-Caught in the Act!

Beautiful black neighbor’s cat was stalking my birds, and I caught her in the act, startling her!

When I was taking pictures with my camera at Disney World, a little boy asked me what that was. A camera to take pictures with. Lol.

At least my grandkids know that not only phones can take pictures.

Turtle Day

We walked really early again to feed the turtles so that we didn’t get hot. It was cloudy out, but the yellow irises beside a different pond I wanted to take pictures of had faded. sigh. I did get some distant shots of herons, so hoping some had turned out.

This is a picture of the red slider turtle that wasn’t interested in the aquatic food, but he was much more interested in us. He came right up, scared my granddaughter, and she lost her water bottle in the pond. So I had to retrieve it. No trashing the pond. But she cried because she’d lost it. I had a bottle of water to share with her.

But she had sat down on the cement, snacks and bottle of water out, ready to have a picnic when the friendly turtle came right up to us and she panicked. I was hurriedly grabbing her snacks, her backpack, she’d knocked over her water bottle and I couldn’t grab it as it rolled down the semi-steep incline. He was just so interested in us. It was so cute.

And that was our turtle adventure! Today, we had a ton of turtles come up to see us. No pancake turtles today though.

Okay, have to figure out what to prepare for lunch!

Happy May Day!

This is the planter I cleaned out and added salvia (purple flowers) and bright pink/red coneflowers. The daylilies and phlox were already growing there but haven’t bloomed.

Fast forward about 3 weeks, flowers all filled in and the daylilies are beginning to bloom, phlox has gone to sleep.
