A Montage of Cardinals

Some of these were taken in my yard, some at a birders stand in Texas. I love cardinals. I keep trying to capture video of the ones playing in the birdbath, but I miss getting my camera ready in time. There was a beautiful swallow-tailed kite flying overhead yesterday when I took all the dogs out. They’re just amazing. Probably looking for my little birds to serve them dinner.

So day 1, the 4 dogs have been fine. I have them through Wednesday. I managed to get to 8,000 words done on Big Cat Magic. Can’t wait to see the cover for it.

I’m off to try and get another 2,000 today. At least that’s always the the plan. But I also need to come up with an idea for more scenes and if I dry up, that’s all she wrote. lol

We had a heat index of 109 yesterday. It’s only going to get worse.

So I’ve been working on Big Cat Magic. It’s a Halloween cougar/snow leopard shifter novella. I have the first 2,000. Hope to keep at it for the next couple of weeks. I need to get started on Roxie Wolff’s story too and have been mulling it over. Still haven’t come up with an idea yet.

I finished the book and turned it over to my beta readers. Then I was working on the long synopsis. Did I mention I don’t like having to write them? lol

Copycat Art Challenge

In the original artist’s version, she showed only one page of the book with a little bit of text, a child’s scene, and a girl sitting on the edge of the book. Copycat challenges are to use a similar layout, colors, something that makes you believe you’ve copied some aspect of it.

Mine is more of historical romance and instead of a person, I had the two deer on the outside of the book. I thought the two men looked like they were the same person, maybe different clothes on another day. I thought the girl looked different. lol Which made me think the guy was playing the field.

All right, I got through edits yesterday on the Highland wolf story, and today, I’m trying to finish it up all the rest of the way before I pick up my granddaughter at preschool. If I finish the book today, I want to get the synopsis done before I dive into the next deadline book and forget what this one was all about. lol

Getting a slow start this morning. I was working on edits on Lachlan’s story until late. I’m up to chapter 9 on edits. The book is now at 89K.

We’re having a 4th of July dinner tonight and kids are off to a 4th of July party on Monday. I get to stay home and work on the story! So off to work I go for now!

I loved Agatha Christie and Sherlock Holmes when I was growing up. But we had some family murder attempts for money also, greed, a shady lawyer who was a relative, just all kinds of cool things to think about while I was writing this story. Nope. You won’t see the real murder attempts in this story, but I have sprinkled them through others to protect the guilty. The shady lawyer? Yep!

I already walked each dog this morning and it’s muggy! It was only 85 yesterday so I managed to get some more weeding done. After I cool down from the two walks, I’ll tackle some more weeding this morning. I’m sure it’s going to heat up again. We had a little rain, but not enough to register in my rain gauge I don’t think.

I’m up to chapter 15 on Deadly Fortunes, have 6 more chapters to proof. Then it’ll be ready, but I have to wait on the new cover and then I can republish it.

I started the second in the series, but when I couldn’t sell to anyone (you know, before indie was an option), I put it on hold and then never got back to it. One of these days, I will!

I bought four more covers. What was I thinking? They’re gorgeous though. I just need to write faster. lol

I need to finish editing Deadly Fortunes and then finish writing Lachlan’s story! They’ll be asking for the synopsis soon and I haven’t finished the story.

Fairy of the Green Woods

When I create these, I used lots of layers and they just keep building one on top of another. The green flower is a photo of a zinnia I had taken. And the butterfly, adjusted colors to match the artwork, was also a photo I’d taken.

I finished proofing Relative Danger. I’m waiting on the cover artist’s print cover. Barb of CoverInked did a lovely job on the ebook cover. I’ve eyed it for a while now once I first saw it. It just embodies so much of the story. I realized I didn’t have it in print, so once she sends the cover to me, I’ll publish it.

We were supposed to have storms from 4 am to 4 pm and coastal flooding, but they’ve been wrong every day this week, so we shall see.
