I loved the discrepancy in the two animals heights, both with long necks and long legs at the zoo when I took this picture, but the background had fences, so I did the composite to show off the animals better.
We swapped out days that I have my granddaughter so she should be here any minute. My daughter and I were swapping seeds so I need to plant some more. Green zinnia? Can’t wait to see them grow in my garden. Off to get ready!
Little one is coming so need to hurry with this or it will be 3 hours later and I won’t have finished my blog!
Bath time for elephants and of course the ducklings wouldn’t mind checking out the water if they could find it under the bubbles. Giraffe isn’t sure about all this.
I only have 4 more chapters to proof on Emerald Isle of Mists and then I’ll post it all over on the book seller sites as a preorder. Hope to do that today.
Okay, I’m off to get ready for my granddaughter’s arrival. Have a great one!
This juvenile giraffe was so cute. He was a perfect model!
Beautiful day yesterday and today we have all kinds of plans, walking, gardening, icing an angel food cake, playing on a splashpad, planting flowers. Just all kinds of fun. The same tomorrow. I hope to take my granddaughter to a pond where they have all kinds of daffodils out right now and take pictures.
Well, still doing edits and not getting anywhere on word count, but I was way ahead. But it will get there. Have a terrific day!
Have you ever seen an ostrich picking on a giraffe before? Pick on your own size, Ostrich! Maybe the ostrich was having a bad day. He/she chased two other ostriches around the enclosure, but also kept picking on a baby/juvenile giraffe. What was up with that?
There’s no call for bullying on the playground. Maybe it’s a natural thing for an ostrich to do. What do I know? But he/she would poke at the sandy soil, then lift her head and poke at the giraffe. And repeat, over and over again. The giraffe didn’t seem to mind at all. So maybe it wasn’t bullying really, but a strange friendship that I couldn’t decipher. It was odd. But then I have to wonder what the deeper motivation was. Did the ostrich just need attention? And the young giraffe was ignoring him?
This is a photo of the Ostrich pecking the young giraffe. Of course, I could make up another story. Ostrich is talking to Giraffe over some perceived slight and Giraffe doesn’t want to discuss it. So instead of tapping on Giraffe’s shoulder to get his attention with his wing, it’s much easier to get his attention using his beak. “Hey, pay attention, Giraffe!”
That’s my story and I’m sticking to it, unless I think of a better one. Motivation, conflict, got to have it.
So the title for White Wolf Moon is going to be WHILE THE WOLF’S AWAY. It’ll come out in 2022.
I had taken this picture of the head of a giraffe, part of his neck and mostly a fenced yard at the Cameron Park Zoo, Waco, Texas.. I think that I was trying to miss all the fencing, back in the day when I didn’t know how to remove fencing from a photo. So what to do with a body-less giraffe? They’re so tall, head in the clouds, munching on a tree, a surrealistic, whimsical piece. That worked!
Sometimes a little bit of whimsy is what we need. I think I’ll do something like that today. My granddaughter is all into rainbow animals, so I might play around with something like that. I have to look up rainbow hippos today for her, but the only hippo pictures I have are of pygmy hippos that are very dark brown, nearly black in color. Maybe I could do a rainbow rhino. They’re a lighter gray. She had a study of frogs at school, and so I showed her frogs on the internet–to show her they weren’t all green. The next thing I know, we see a rainbow frog–photoshopped and we were off to look at rainbow animals. lol
I managed to get some weeding done too while little one had Tanner chase her in the yard, and then she played tug-of-war with 3-foot lengths of grass that I pulled out of my flowerbed. Both would be tired I’m sure. She only took a 45 min nap also, which made it harder for me to get much done.
I got up way too early this morning–4 am. The experts say to get up if you can’t sleep and do something else for a while, then go back to bed. So I’m going to try it and get maybe another hour of sleep. Hopefully. Or I will be dragging all day. I’ve tried this before and it doesn’t work. I can’t shut my mind down on things I need to do. But I’m going to try. Maybe if I think of wolves jumping over fences, I will manage to sleep. Forget sheep.
Even my little granddaughter loves wolves because Grandma does. lol
It’s cool this morning. I should get a million things done in the yard, but I’m working on Wolf Fever, joining the kids for breakfast and then back to the book. My beta readers are about done with Red Wolf and I need to get back to it!
Hope you all are having a great day! And stay safe!
There’s just something about a giraffe that’s…lovable.
I have to admit I only reached 29K yesterday. Baby was needy and I just couldn’t get any more done on My Highlander. I had wanted to get to 30K. Though, it really was my free day and on my regular schedule, I would have to be at 18K today, so doing great. I also did critique a winner’s first 20 pages of her novel. Need to reread it this morning and make any further comments and send it back to her.
Not to mention I was awake all the night before and I just couldn’t think by the time the evening rolled around. Have you ever done that? It’s like having super-charged caffeine and you can’t sleep.
Anyway, so hope to make up for it today. Hope you have a great one!!! The puppies are telling me they are STARVING. Like, why? They slept all night. 🙂 <3
