Finally got on track with writing again. Yay! And wrote a flash fiction for a blog. So I need to get to work on Roxie again this morning! 🙂 It’s supposed to be hot, hot, hot. No rain. *sigh*

58K done on Roxie’s story and 22K to go! Nearly finished weeding that front flowerbed. I will never plant sedum again. It’s such a mess and the grass grows up in it and there’s no getting rid of all of it ever. 🙂 Live and learn.
I’m up to 56K, which means 24K left, it’s great!!! I’ll probably be a much higher word count than that, which is great for when they begin editing it, but woohoo. It’s amazing how I start out with a few words and end up this far along. I start thinking of the story in the middle of the night, especially when I get nearer to the end. What kind of twists can I throw in? What will make the reader pause and love it?
There’s nothing worse than reading a story that goes from A to B and there are no twists at the end. I know what’s going to happen. No, no, we don’t want to do that to readers. Make it…something unexpected. And so much more fun.
Okay, I’m off to do more yard work before I write. I have one more flowerbed that needs a lot of work. Yesterday, because it was so cool, I was cutting down pine trees and yaupon holly tree branches and pulling up more weeds. The pine trees were volunteers, but there were getting to be a mass of them. I finally figured I needed to thin them out. I still have the three, probably 75 year old ones, and 3 young ones that are about 12 feet high already. They grow really fast. I wanted the young ones to replace the old ones if they die on me. I’ve had one die in the backyard, and one that looked dead after that horrible freeze we had a couple of years ago in the front yard. It lost all its pine needles, and usually that’s the end of them, but then it came back. But I’m just concerned I might lose them and so the new ones will hopefully replace them some day.
Okay, no more dilly-dallying. Time to get to work!

It’s supposed to be 64 degrees this morning, woohoo! So I’m definitely going to get some yard work done. It’ll still be 90 in the afternoon, but loving the lower temperatures in the morning. Even the fire ants take refuge until it warms up more.
And of course, I’m trying to get my word count in. Finally managed 3000 yesterday, yay! I need a few more days like that! Anyway, up to 54K, hope for 56K today. I had lunch with my granddaughter yesterday, and it was so nice. She was telling me all the days I needed to come to eat with her. Like all but one day a week. She’s so cute. So I hope to see her once a week. I thought of every other week, but she loved it so much, that I will try for once a week for a while anyway. It eats into my writing time and other work I have to do!
I’m at 51K, plan to get another 2K today. 1500 words to go. Woohoo! My granddaughter was out sick yesterday, so I’m going to try and catch up with her for lunch today. I really need to get my first thousand done before that. Then it will only be 2 1/2 hours before picking her up! But this should be fun. The lunch menu doesn’t look appealing, so I’ll bring my own.
It was so cool this morning, I was out doing some weeding, but now I’ve got to concentrate on the book.
I love writing about the jaguars, but it will take me a while before I can write another. I need to finish my other story, and can’t wait to be working on the next one. I need to figure out what three to contract next though–for when Roxie’s story is done. Hmm, maybe a new wolf pack. What do you think? And I want to write a fae story and a bear story too. I need to get cracking.
I think I’ll be eating lunch with my little granddaughter at school today. How much fun will that be? I will be the luckiest grandma in the world.
