Have my granddaughter here today, so we’ve been reading books–love Rocket, Drop It, watching an interactive Jurassic Park where she can choose her fate, it’s really a cool show. And now we’re going to set up her fairy garden. We had 2″ of rain yesterday and we’re supposed to have rain in a little while so we have to do this quick.
We were supposed to have rain all day today and through Saturday, but now it’s not coming until 11, so I’m going to get some groceries before it comes, if it comes!

We can’t really put out chocolate because here it will melt. We can’t put out other kinds of candy in plastic eggs unless they’re wrapped in packages because the ants get into them. Our heat index yesterday was 94 degrees. We were hot, hot, hot, when we got home from our walk to pick up my granddaughter from school yesterday. It’s the same scenario today. But the rest of the week it will be a little cooler and stormy. Except for Sunday, and it should be fine for the hunt.
One year we had snow and ice for Easter. Yep, Texas. That was in Central Texas, but still, snow???
My granddaughter and I will be decorating eggs on Friday since she’ll be here the whole day.
So yesterday, I took my grandson to the post office to ship some more books by nine. Man, media mail cost is out of this world. It was $7.10 to send each book! It used to be $3.30. Anyway, when I got my grandson in the car, he was yawning. No, no, no! We need to go get the car safety inspection sticker so I can renew my car registration. Do NOT Fall Asleep!
He’s supposed to have his diaper changed, eat lunch, or vice versa, and shoes off, rock in the rocking chair, then off to slumber land. But he fell asleep in my arms at the inspection station. No, no, no! I need the time to write when he sleeps. So I drove home and thankfully, he just slept on his mat, and didn’t wake. I had lunch, then changed his diaper when he woke, fed him lunch, and managed by the end of the day to get 2,000 words, yay!
Today, we are on the hunt for some toddler Easter hunt stuff, and we’ll have a more normal routine. Come home, lunch, diaper change, down for a nap, then snack, and we’re off in the horrid heat to pick up his sister. I hope to get a 1,000 today, 2,000 if I can manage. It only happens if I can think up more scenes to write. Only 26K to go though. It’s getting done!
Up to 52K on Highland Wolf. I had hoped for more yesterday, but I was glad to get at least my 2,000 words in. Planted some more flower seeds, zinnia and sunflowers.
Baby is here today. I need to ship some books and get my car safety inspected, so I figure I’ll do that today since baby days are non-writing days. Though I hope to still get a 1000 words in.
I’ve been watching Alone. It’s interesting to see how everyone builds their shelters and tries to scrounge up enough food to survive. Some of the shelters are out of this world. It’s amazing how some have built shelters to really last. And others? No way would they survive a snowy winter. The guy that built a beautiful cabin got homesick and went home. It was really a shame because I really thought he’d last through the snows that are coming. The area is sure beautiful. But the grizzlies? Huge and dangerous. Since I wrote about grizzly bear shifters, it’s interesting to watch this and for the 2nd book, I’ll have to reference some of their behavior that I watched in the show. Also, one of the guys was cooking and a cougar showed up for dinner.
I only have 28 more days to write, and need 30k for minimum word count, but getting there!
They’re always longer than that, so still hunkering down to get this done on time. Easter next weekend, so I’m having my granddaughter stay overnight on Thursday since she’ll be out of school on Friday. Then all the Easter stuff over the weekend, so I need to keep after the writing too because I can’t make allowances for any days off from word count.
The roses are blooming in abundance. And lots of the flower seeds I put out are sprouting. At least I hope they are and they’re not new weeds. lol
I finally made my word count. We went to a ramen noodle restaurant last night for my granddaughter’s birthday, her choice, and then opened presents. I got her flash cards for addition, and one for more words to learn, books, and a 1st Grade workbook and I let her open that one early. She started working on it before her mom arrived to pick her up. Yay!
I made my word count plus 1,000 last night. Did not think I’d even make word count it was such a hectic day, so really glad. And I’m back at it today. We’re going at 2:30 to her kids’ birthday party, Girl Scout troop, to do science stuff. She loves science experiments. So hope to get my word count in by then.
I’ve been planting flower seeds and saw that some of the ones I planted a couple of days ago are up. Now I need to get the zinnia and sunflower seeds in the ground.
