We were walking by Edinburgh Castle down below and I spotted this sleepy cat half watching us. What a perfect perch for a nap high above the world.
I’ve got grandkid duty constantly–Saturday, little one. Monday, both kids, Tuesday, maybe both, but one for sure. I still need to do my writing, so I’m off to do it before little one arrives.
I’m updating Loving the White Bear, final proofing–8 more chapters to go. I’m working on Winning the Highlander’s Heart, but I want to get back to the new Highland book I was working on, a little paranormal, but this one isn’t a shifter book. I haven’t written a Highland story in 7 years, so I want to finish this up!

My friend Milly in Australia sent me the pictures of her ewes, sheep, and ram. If the ram was one of my shifters, he would be the true alpha male. Um, except he would be true to one lassie.
I’m still feeling like I was run over by a freight train, but I’m trying to get better!!! One of the things I read was that eating protein helps you to heal. I haven’t eaten any since I lost the only thing I ate on Sunday. So my mission today is to eat some protein.

That was the fun post. The awful reality is that I have to have a crown put on–not the gold kind that makes me a queen of all things, but the kind that goes on my tooth. Think of big needles, numbing solution, drills and the smell of bone being pulverized to dust….talk about medieval torture.

The stairs were more like what they were originally. These were sloping and harder to navigate and you really had to watch your step, but it was really neat to see them more like they had been in centuries past.
Little one will be here soon, trying to get some chores done before he is.

It’s hard to imagine what it would look like in the empty chambers, so the picture at the right shows castle life. At least for the noble folks, it’s not too bad. As you can see, the stairs are narrow and steep throughout the castle. These have been redone. I have to find the ones that they looked like originally! They were difficult to walk on.
Off to feed my dogs and the birds and get my tea and get to work on Highland Wolf. That’s my castle life.

I love photographing reflections in water and it was especially fun to do so when the area was lit up with lights at night.
Ironically, we got hot there. The sun was out for the most part during the day and I had to buy a short sleeved shirt! When we returned to Edinburgh, it was cold and rainy. Loved it though! I wanted to get away from the Texas heat. It sure has returned with a vengeance, with daytime temperatures of 95.
But at least it’s cooler in the mornings, and any relief from the heat is welcome.
I’m still waking up at 3 am, can’t break the habit, which is why I’m writing my blog at this time.

Midhope Castle, West Lothian, Scotland. I just love old castles.
It’s the real-life location of Lallybroch, the ancestral home of Jamie Fraser in the Outlander series.
A family actually lives here, which is why it is kept up so nicely.
My birds haven’t come back after I starved them for two weeks. The squirrels are back though. It doesn’t take long for them to figure out there’s a handout for them. It was so nice and cool this morning, I was out weeding. I hope it continues to be cool in the morning so I can keep after it.
I’m off to work on the two stories I’m finishing up that I wrote scenes for on the plane coming and going and I need to work on my website pages some more.

I have no illusions of grandeur. If I had lived at this castle in times of old, I’m sure I would have been one of the scullery maids.
But it sure was fun checking them out. I’m off to bring the puppies home. I’m sure they feel I abandoned them forever!
So if you had been here, what would you have been? A Lord? A Lady? A warrior? A farmer? Whatever it was, you would NOT have wanted to have been a prisoner in the dungeon!
