Elk and the Butterfly

I took the photo of the elk at the wildlife reserve in Omaha, NE.

I created the surreal picture by accident. I used one layer in Divide Mode and the elk in Hard Light and voila!A really unusual result!

I’ve been coughing for the last 4 hours so got up to write my blog. Hopefully, after taking some cough syrup and nighttime Sudafed I’ll be able to sleep. Off to try again.

Have a great day!

Elk in Winter

When I took the picture of the elk, it was fall, very cold, Thanksgiving, but not snowing. The wildlife reserve closes down the at the first snowfall. So I winterized the photo for fun.

I finished all my edits on Angel Fae and turned it over to my beta readers. I was going to start working on Wolf Pack, but began working on two of the bear orders instead. I have to take Max in for vaccinations in just a little bit. In the meantime, I’m sewing on bear ears!

Okay, off with Max to the vet!

Have a great day!

Elks, Dragons, and Lizards…

There goes my randomness again. The elks were in rutting season, and so I was glad to see them happily resting, so I could take pictures.

The Carolina anole has been hopping around from the fountain to my chives. I caught him on the dragons and finally managed to grab my camera before he managed to slip away.

“Marta, look, we have a dinner guest.”

“Bjorn, make it go away. He’s tickling my ear.”

And that’s what the dragons  have to say about it.

Me? I’m off to write. I’m 16,000 over word count and still trying to reach the end.

Have a great day!!!

The Hiding Elk, or Are They…Hidden?

wildflowers elk in background (640x427)

Do you see the wildflowers in the foreground or is your attention riveted to the elk in the background?

Okay, the guys with the antlers, please lower them so we can really be safe!

Okay, the big guy with the showy antlers, please lower them so we can really be safe!

That’s better, but the antlers need to be LOWER. You can do it. Head down, please.

I think they saw us!

I think they saw us!

Have a great TGIF and take it easy! I have 4,000 words to write and then…wait, it’s not TGIF? Jumping the gun. Okay, happy Thursday! I still have 4,000 more words to write, now that I have my days straightened out!

Have a great one, whatever day it is!

Brilliant Thoughts

Ever have one?

You know. That most brilliant idea that you want to put down on paper. You want to use in your story. You want to use to accomplish something big today. You want to tell your best friend or your significant other. It’s there, right there, and then when you need it most, its gone. Just poof! Like a genie vaporizing into his bottle and he won’t come out no matter how much you coax and entice and threaten.

Nope. That brilliant idea is gone. Forever.

It’s not that easy coming up with brilliant ideas. Really. That’s what makes them so brilliant. If we have them all the time then they’d become the average, just another regular idea. No, the brilliant ideas are just every once in a while ideas which make them so special. So next time you have one, be sure to capture it on paper. And then, you’ve got it! Forever. For all eternity.

What if no one else who hears your brilliant idea thinks it’s all that brilliant?

Maybe it’s better not to tell anyone. Then we can continue to know how much merit it has!

The characters in my stories do tell each other their brilliant plans. And sometimes they are. In theory. But in practice,  it can have the domino effect–one falling into another until they all fall down.

But hey, if that happens–no problem. Just come up with another brilliant idea!

I’m still trying to remember mine. What about you?

bc431-elklastyear28800x78729 This elk was thinking of charging the car–rutting season, Omaha, Nebraska. A brilliant thought?

Change Can Be Confusing

Elk at the Lee G Simmons Conservation Park and Wildlife Safari in Ashland, Nebraska. This is rutting season and so we couldn’t stop the car and I had to get a shot while we were driving by. They’re very territorial and dangerous at this time of year. Last year, they were okay–because we could stop and take pictures. Note this year, it was much colder and the ponds were frozen.

This is a picture I took last year.

But the keeper said that they have a lot of wild young bad boy bucks this year. 🙂  So many things had changed this year from last, and I think it was because the temperatures had dropped so drastically. It was 11 degrees on Sunday morning, with a chill factor of 1 degree. We’re having 70 here today, so being in that cold of weather when you’re not used to it is COLD. 🙂

If I were this bear, note the snow on the ground, I would be hibernating. Which I sort of am. I’m in my cave, trying to finish up edits on A Hero of a Highland Wolf and A Highland Wolf Christmas.

I’m excited my roadrunner is still here!

But I’m confused about one thing–it’s just Tuesday, right? My neighbors put out their trash and they don’t pick up until Wednesday. It is Tuesday today, right???

Back to work on the two books. Brought out my notes for Jaguar Pride as that’s the next book I need to write. 🙂

Do you have your tree up yet??? I still need to do that, but because of deadlines, I think it might be the latest I ever put up my decorations.
