Sleepy Bear

I took the photo of the black bear at the Cameron Park Zoo in Waco, Texas some years ago and added textures to create photo art.

Little one is here today, which means it’s a down day for writing, though while she takes a break to watch preschool programs and a nap, I hope to get something done. I’m proofing Saving the White Cougar today, as much as I can and hope to get it to my beta readers by Friday.

I’m still editing White Wolf and hope to concentrate on adding more conflict to that book too. And then I’m working on You Had Me at Cougar as my backup when I get stuck on the other. I’m still also working on Angel Fae and I need to pull up my vampire book that I’m nearly done with and see where I stopped on that. I think I about have word count on it, just need to finish it up. So lots of fun books in progress!

I’m hoping I can get Saving the White Cougar done and up for preorders. I never have my books available for that because once it’s finished, I publish it. But in this case, I wrote the cart before the horse. It was just supposed to be a quick novella, ha! And turned into a novel. But the summer book needs to come out first, and that’s You Had Me at Cougar. So that means I should be able to put it up for preorder. One of my beta readers asked me where the bear came from??? Yes, it’s in the book I need to write. lol

Thanks so much for reading my blog!

I’m off to get something done before little one gets here!

Stay safe!!

Black Bear

I took this picture of a black bear at the Waco zoo and added textures.

So last night, we had fun going to the Christmas lighted Houston Zoo. I wish we could have seen the animals too but we had a blast in any event. I took pictures of ducks before it got too dark.

Image may contain: 1 person, outdoor
My battery on my camera died before I could take the dragon shots. This was on my phone. My son-in-law’s pictures for nighttime are much better than my Samsung’s. The worst part is I was wearing a mask and every time I went to take a photo with my camera, my viewer fogged up, plus I was having a time finding the focus ring using gloves. What can I say? I live in Texas. I don’t often have to wear gloves! But it was cold last night.

So not only is my granddaughter coming over for 5 hours while my daughter and SIL celebrate their anniversary, I’ve got edits on Jingle Bells Wolf to do. Ugh. So other writing will have to be put on hold. I had planned on writing all weekend.

One of my favorite photo spots because of the beautiful lights reflection

I’m off to try to get my day started anyway, before I’m detoured!

Have a great and safe day.

Back to the Saharan Desert & Photo Art

We have an extreme danger heat index today, and it will even be hotter tomorrow, so it will feel more like the desert, except for the high humidity.

I wrote another 3,000 words yesterday on the Highland wolf novella, but still need to write one more major scene and will be doing some edits today, or tomorrow. Little one will be here momentarily and that will put a crimp in writing and editing. But we’ll have fun. I got her some sight reading cards, so we’re going to start working on those. We were working on beginning reading books also.

A black bear and his very long tongue. A blue jay on the feeder.

Have a great day!!!

Darkland Elf, 8 Years in the Making!

See? Never give up, never surrender! Believe me, I don’t write THAT fast! I have a lot of books I start and then don’t have the time to finish right away. Even Claiming the White Bear I started last Christmas, but had to stop to write wolf and jaguar stories. Little bit, by little bit, they finally are finished.

As a motivational inspirer, Eloria’s mission is to convince her friend Persephonice to leave the elf world behind. She knows that if she can’t, she will be stuck in their world herself. But what she finds in the primitive elf world is magic and a connection she never thought possible.
Viator is a prince of the darkland elves and captures one of those extraordinary creatures like Persephonice to turn over to his father, but his people worry about the prophecy where a girl from another world would take over their kingdom. He’s not giving her up as he realizes he needs her to help fulfill his mission to make his wings transparent. And she has to see where his dangerous quests will take them both…if they can survive the trials.

I got back from the Thanksgiving trip and am playing catch up all over the place. Got some really great shots at the zoo so will share for the next few days. Put up my Christmas tree last night, some lights out front just a few minutes ago, but still need to finish decorating. Baby loved the ghost out front for Halloween and would talk to it, so I picked up a “crystal” snowman that she can talk to for out front. They don’t talk back. lol So it’s a one-sided conversation.

Despite all that we did, Thanksgiving, the zoo, and signed books at the Barnes and Noble in Waco, I managed to squish in 9000 words for Woodland Fae.

Okay, I’m off and running. I need to make a list so I can keep track of everything I need to do. I had no food in the house either, so had to do some grocery shopping… And I realized I had published Darkland Elf on Thursday morning before we went to Waco for Thanksgiving, but I didn’t have any time to tell the world!

One of my beta readers sent back corrections for the The Witch and the Jaguar, need the other’s still and then need to format the cover for the is book. So it should be coming out soon.

In the meantime? I’m taking a break and  having lunch. I’ll send this bear to keep an eye on you. What beady little eyes and what a long tongue he has!

Have a great day!

Bear Shifter, Anyone?

Of course! I started out with Loving the White Bear, but I also have a confrontation with a grizzly.

I started to have a grizzly in one of my wolf shifter stories, but it seemed like too many characters and I was afraid my editor wouldn’t like it. He was just adorable too. But I went ahead and cut out all the scenes pertaining to him, and every time I re-read it for proofing, I missed him. So he will have to be in his own story too.

For now, I’m back to working on cougar shifters. I reached 30,000 words last night, not sure I’d make it because I had baby all day, had to take her to the doctor and then to the grocery store to get medicine for an ear infection.

This weekend, I hope to make it to the halfway point!

Have a great day!!! We might get rain. Yay!~ We got some yesterday, twice, both not predicted at all and much appreciated!

Time to Get Cool

Holly, the black bear, is making her way down to the pond to take a swim and cool down. It’s so hot here now, I think it’s a great idea, and Boltz, 6-year-old gray wolf is sleeping in his den. He’s being omega here, while all the other wolves are chilling in another den.

Do you ever feel that way? Just want to get away from the crowd? Holly was chasing another bear around earlier, but I couldn’t catch them in time for a shot.

Okay, I’m at 20K on Cougar Magic! Fifty to go. I need to make some changes to Silver Town Wolf Christmas that my first beta reader suggested…too. And a luncheon also. Sometimes it’s important to join the real world, then it’s back to the wolf den to write. Or…cougar den… Or bear den… I just have to make sure I go to the right one or I’ll be in trouble.

We might get rain. That’s a big “might,” but I’m always hopeful. Despite the heat, 109 heat index yesterday, I was out pulling grass from my flowerbeds. I couldn’t stand it any longer. But it didn’t feel that bad. Maybe I’m finally getting used to it. Were supposed to only have a heat index of 101 today. Yay!

Have a great one.

Black Bear, White Bear, Gray Wolf, Blue Waterfall…

Whoops, I goofed on figuring out my word count goals. I didn’t take off the days I have baby. No way can I get 2,000 words on those days. *sigh* I’ll have to get a little bit after she leaves those nights and try to make up for it during the week. I planned to weed this morning too, but can’t with baby here. I did work on another flowerbed later in the day, so it’s part way done.

Blue waterfall sculpture at the arboretum, black bear waiting for a peanut at the North American Bear Center, white polar bear swimming, diving, kicking off wall, repeat at the Como Zoo, gray wolf relaxing at the International Wolf Center.

Okay, got to get ready for baby! Have a great day!!!

Beautiful Memories and a Rainbow Welcome Home!

The double and single rainbows were in the clouds when I was in the airplane, descending into the Houston airport. The mirrored curved wall was the coolest artwork in a very strange field of art sculptures. And  Tasha is the black bear, 3 years old, playing in the pond.

The fun thing about the trip was that I took thousands of pictures and all are beautiful, fun, interesting, and funny memories that I can look back on for years. In the meantime, I managed to type up more of the story after writing for 5 hours while waiting to board the plane and while flying to Houston. I only paused to take some cloud and rainbow pictures. I ended up with 19,000, which is 5,000 over my word goal!

But, my gardens need major weeding. At 95 degrees, it’s just sooooo hot. I did take some zinnia pictures this morning, and I’m still downloading all the pictures I took on the trip. I still need to unpack more, but have to get my word count too. The puppies have been playing all morning. They’re happy I’m home, though they loved being at my daughter and SIL’s home with the baby and the corgis.

Off to work… Have a super, memory-filled day!

Being a Bear

thanksgiving-omaha-black-bear-sleeping-900-185

Everyone but me slept in, so now my son and I are off to run errands. It’s raining here, snowing up north, still really mild and supposed to get into the 70’s in the next couple of days. It’s going to feel like a Florida Christmas.

Hope you’re having a great day. 🙂 <3

Bear Cave Much Better Place to Be

black bear (640x364) (2)It’s really important that I stay in my bear cave to finish the edits on this book. 70 pages to go. 130 done. BUT, it’s essential that I get some papers notarized, scanned, emailed, and fedexed. We’re under 2 flood river warnings and 1 flood river watch. The two are already a couple of feet over flood levels. I tried to run in last night to a post office to do the notary, but the roads were soooo badly flooded, I had to turn around, not sure I could even make it back. In retrospect, I wished I could have taken a picture, but I was too busy trying not to get hit or flood my engine.

I kept saying if they’d send the paperwork earlier, even a couple of hours earlier, we would have been fine. Nope. Had to send them in the middle of the downpour and by then, it was already too late.

So I’ve been trying to figure out another way I can get this notarized…a place nearer by will do it, IF they can even make it into work. It’s a non-essential type place so they might not. And IF I can even make it over there. We have continued rains for several hours. I can’t do anything until businesses open up at 8:30-9. So until then, I’m back to the bear cave while the thunder and lightning continues, and the rains keep coming down.

ducks and koi (800x733)The ducks are probably laughing when they see all these cars stopped, trying to figure out if they can make it on the flooded roads. Lights flashing, they sit there, not sure what to do. Try to make it? Stall out their cars? Wait the storm out? The storm and the flood waters are not going away any time soon. Maybe tomorrow? But we have heavy rains through the weekend. Tow trucks have been out in numbers, towing cars stuck in the floodwaters.

I had to turn around while I watched a couple of other higher road vehicles plow through the water, the wet stuff as high as their headlights. I have a Ford Escape, the new models lower than the older ones, so the water was up to my headlights before I even reached the point where the water was even higher.  I didn’t want to risk it. Vehicles riding lower than mine were in a real quandary.  Two Suburbans sailed past me, idiots, not because they could, but because they were driving 10 mph over the speed limit as if to say ha! They could do it. There have been tons of accidents on the highways this morning, mostly due to the wet roads and flooding.

So I have to figure out this dilemma and figure out how to get it done without drowning myself in the process.

Hmmm, it sounds like the stuff for stories.

waterfall (427x640)Have a super great day! Back to editing!!! 🙂
