Playing Around with Older Photos–Turning into Art!

I take tons of pictures at zoos, wildlife reserves, on hikes, at arboretums, and though they are sharp and good (not all of them of course), the backgrounds are boring on some. So I’ve been playing around with texture overlays and texture backgrounds. With the elephant, I added flying dirt particles using a brush to give the sand motion. So much fun. From so-so zoo pictures to something that is really fun to look at.

The first two were shot at the San Diego zoo and the third one at the Minnesota zoo.

So I’m back to Red Wolf. Have 50K. Working on turning it into 60K this week. 80K is the minimum and I’ll shoot for around 89K or so.

Legend of the White Wolf is Off!

Did you know that polar bears don’t hibernate? When I began writing my polar bear shifter series, I found that out. All these years and I didn’t know it!

Okay, so finished proofing of Legend of the White Wolf and sent it in. I’ll be working on Red Wolf Christmas today, once I return from running errands. I’m also reworking a romantic suspense I wrote some years ago–before cell phones! It might be the next cougar book. I’ll have to see. Anyway, I’ve got to run.

Because I work at home, I don’t usually get out until most of the work traffic and school traffic has gone, but I have a vet appointment at 7:15… so….

Zoos Are My Inspiration

When I was at the San Diego Zoo, I had so much fun seeing polar bears in the water playing. I had never seen that before. At the Omaha zoo, one just sleeps in a cave all day. Our Texas zoos that I’ve been to don’t have any. I don’t think the one is Wisconsin that I went to had any. I don’t remember any at the zoo in Minnesota. I could be wrong. I might have missed them.

But when I saw the active bears in water at the one in San Diego, it was so much fun. They loved it too.

Claiming the White Bear

I’ve been wracking my brain for a story idea for my polar bear shifter book 2, and finally came up with one. Ironically, when we went to the grocery store yesterday, they had this big display with polar bears, and it was like a sign: Write your next polar bear book! 🙂 <3

And then this morning amidst a white Christmas Eve, I came up with the title. 🙂 Claiming the White Bear.

It’s snowing on Christmas Eve! I haven’t been anywhere that it snowed on Christmas since…hmm, maybe when I lived in Wisconsin? But I was little back then.

We had snow in the Houston area way before Christmas, and I was in a blizzard in St. Louis once on Thanksgiving. We had snow and sleet on Easter in Waco, Texas one year. But Christmas Eve and Christmas Day? Maybe never! Except when I was little. I remember walking across frozen lakes with my parents, being carried on my dad’s shoulders to the bus stop because the snow was so high, and the bigger kids helping the little kids remove all their snow gear so we could go to class. 🙂

We’re seeing Star Wars today, having Christmas Eve dinner, inviting a service member who couldn’t go home for Christmas, and having fun! My son and his girlfriend are both in the AF, and so is their friend.

Snow on the way to 20,000 Leaks Under the Sea

Yesterday, we made it to the Escape Room to solve the puzzle of how to stop the 20,000 Leaks Under the Sea. We made it! Woohoo! It had snowed before I arrived, and then yesterday when we were driving to the Escape Room, it was snowing heavily.

For those of you who live in snow country, I know you’re shaking your heads. lol For me, it’s a novelty. And Inge said her mother came here from Hawaii last year and it was in the 60’s, very mild Christmas. They’ve had them for the last several years. Global warming come to mind? Or just one of those 100-year, 1000-year, million-year cycles?

We might not have enough snow to build a snowman, but this has been a lovely white Christmas in any event!

Have a Merry Christmas if you celebrate it, and if you don’t, wishing you a special day with snow or without! And if you’re getting snowed in, be safe!

Time to attack again. In fun. They were having such a ball.

I’ve only seen a sleeping polar bear at the Omaha zoo that raised its head once for a shot and then went back to sleep. So it was really fun at the San Diego Zoo where they could swim and play, and there are three of them there. 🙂

The one is pacing in the background. The bigger male made a big splash to dive, and the female is up for air.

Playing around with a New Book Cover and Idea

SEAL Wolf Hunting | [Terry Spear]

First, I had to share this. He’s now out in audiobook! What makes this so special is that it’s the first time I have have a wolf book in audiobook. Silver Wolf Christmas, coming in October, will also be out in audiobook. Two companies are considering producing the rest of the wolf books, and that means 14 books in all. One is producing the first 4 jaguar books, so excited about that too. Two are out: Jaguar Pride and Savage Hunger. Jaguar Fever and Jaguar Hunt are in process.

I have a novel that needs to be revised a lot to make this work, but I was messing around with a cover for the story for when I can get around to rewriting it. Still need to figure out a tag line. More on it later, but the novel was turned down a few years back, had totally rewrite it for my publisher, and so I’m revising it to create this new book, polar bears instead of Arctic wolves.

And I’m working on this book right now, have 64,000 words to go.

And I finished proofing Killing the Bloodlust. The narrator will make the corrections, I’ll reproof it and it’ll be off to production.

Even hunters need to take time out from taking care of rogue vampires and have some fun!

And now I’m back to tangling with the wild cats. I have to still go back in and reread Billionaire, but I always let it sit for a couple of days so that I’m looking at it with fresher eyes. Have a great hump day! 🙂
