I write these new releases a year earlier. I’m working on Jaguar Christmas now for next October, so when I get questions about the new release, I think, wait, hasn’t it been out for a while? I’ve since written 3 full length novels, 1/2 of another and a novella.

And even while I’m working on my current book, I’m thinking of another couple of books that are vying for my attention.

Mockingbird

I have a new lens 70-300 for my Canon, and I haven’t been able to get any shots of anything worth shooting since I got it. But then I heard a mockingbird singing away in its multitude of tunes beneath the window. Hot old Texas had finally gotten cool, so I had my windows open, but still, the screen is in place. In the past, I’ve used an 18-135 lens and gotten blurry pictures of cardinals sitting in the same shrubs because the lens has focused on the tree branches, difficult to see. I really thought the new lens would have the same result because of the shadows in the shrubs and because it would focus on nearer objects. Disappointing because the cardinal had come right up to the window too, curious as to what the one-eyed monster was that was peering back at him and he was not in focus at all.

Did you know the Mockingbird is the Texas state bird?

I got as close to the mockingbird as I was able before he flew off, and of course the branch was in the way, so it focused on it more than the bird, but even so, these are the best bird shots I’ve ever gotten through the window, of a bird in the evergreen variegated privet. The background almost looks like a stained glass windowpane. Touches of bokeh. Really pretty.

I think these are sparrows. These were shot with the 18-135. In the first one, you can see the window screen. It would have been fun to get a picture of them with the 300 lens to see what a difference it would have made.

Is the title an oxymoron? My daughter told her friend once that what she said was an oxymoron, and her mother got mad at her for calling her that.

Then my daughter had to explain what oxymoron meant. But truly, these are wild tame birds of Scotland! 🙂 <3

A SILVER WOLF CHRISTMAS is a rollercoaster romance with the perfect amount of suspense and humor. I laughed out loud when CJ had mispronounced Laurel’s last name (it is McTire but pronounced McTier) because I had actually done that myself. They are a good couple and I enjoyed watching as he brought out the playful side of the serious she-wolf. The number of mysteries and troubles that need to be solved in A SILVER WOLF CHRISTMAS just kept adding up. You have the ghost-busters crew, the “C” on the wall that paint didn’t cover, a ghost wolf, and of course the disappearance of the girls’ aunt and the past owners of the hotel. These mysteries all merge together seamlessly in this well-crafted story and it is all lightened up with the Christmas theme as they prepare for the holidays in the midst of the drama. I have read a number of books by author Terry Spear and this one is a winner that will be on my TRA shelf and I await her next offering.
