When I was a kid, I read all kinds of fairy tales and mythology from all over the world, and later, I loved Star Trek, Star Wars, Serenity, Lord of the Rings, and such a mixture of past and present, of mythical creatures and futuristic worlds. Of places stuck in the past while others moved ahead. Of those who thought they were the civilized nations, when a more primitive form wasn’t so uncivilized. It’s a fun electric story meant to be fun.

I had a frozen outside pipe. From 80 degrees, to below freezing. Ugh. I think it’s supposed to warm up next week, but I’ll have to call a plumber too.

Free Creative Market Goods Each Week

They usually have a font or two that are free, and a myriad of other stuff. What’s great about Creative Market is if you lose your hard drive, you can always go back to the site where you had your free font or anything else you’ve downloaded before, free or otherwise, and it allows you to re-download. I’ve picked up fonts, overlays, a number of things from their site, and they can be very reasonable. Plus, if the people with the items update them, you get an automatic notice about the updates.

This is a picture I took at the old house of two bluebirds sitting on the roof. I had a whole swarm of them trying to get bugs one day. I had never seen bluebirds there before. This was shot through a window and screen with the sun overhead at an odd angle, so not the best of shots.

This shows the difference between what I could capture with the new home, clear glass still, so not shooting from outside, better lighting, gray day.

Deadly Fortunes was the first. And she has this wild cousin whose book I was writing next. I often did this, started sequels to books in the hopes of selling the series. But when I couldn’t get picked up by a publisher for the first book, I’d just set the sequel aside and work on something else. I had one title for it, but I think to tie it in with Deadly Fortunes, I might call it Deadly Mis-Fortunes. She’s also a fortune teller with real psychic powers also. It’s already 25,000 words long. Hmmmm. When I’m starting out on a new book, it’s like ack, so many words to write. The draw to the Dark Side is powerful… write the book that I have an upcoming deadline on, or write the book that is a good way on its way to being done???

Okay, okay, so I can fight the Dark Side and I will keep working on Flight of the White Wolf, but…maybe I’ll finish up Deadly Mis-Fortunes after that. We’ll see. 🙂 It depends on where my muse will take me. It’s been bugging me to write Chet’s Cougar Christmas story.

Need Free Pictures for Blogs?

I used the water from a surfing picture to add to the splash motion of a photo I had paid for of a romantic couple where the water was gray and not as detailed. So I overlayed it on top of the original water.

I have new tomato plants, volunteering to grow in different spots in the garden, even winter tomatoes! But today, it’s a windchill of 25 and raining. The high will reach only 37 for us, windchill much lower, and for us, that’s COLD. I put off running errands until today. Mistake! It said our weather was going to be 65 today. Hmmmm, I should know not to listen to the weatherman. Tomorrow will only be a high of 44, not counting windchill.

Okay, so I’m off and running on Flight of the Wolf. Well, beginning it. Have the first 1,000, 79,000 to go.

Transferring Files to Beta Reader–What a Job!

Sometimes it’s just easier having fun with the sock puppy.

Tanner is good. He just carries them to his resting places, doesn’t chew on them. But it’s a game with him. He tried to grab the one I was trying to put on the other day.

So anyway, I used Jutoh to create an epub for Nook for my beta reader, and for some bizarre reason, chapters were out of order, sooooo, I went to the Mac to use Vellum. Well, my Mac won’t connect with the Internet. So I put the books on an external hard drive and attached it to the Mac. It’s not showing the external hard drive. Finally, after much fussing, it’s showing. Wait, wrong file for Loving the White Bear. This one is an earlier version and not finished. Eject from Mac. Back to the PC. Get right file. Eject from PC. Insert in Mac. External Hard drive isn’t showing on Mac. AND the internet won’t come up on the Mac.

Does this sound like a vicious circle?

It is. I’d rather take pictures of Tanner stealing my socks.

Okay, so finally the hard drive shows up, create the Vellum file, the Nook file, eject hard drive. Insert to PC, send on its way because my internet is working fine on it.

I also was finishing revisions on Galaxy Warrior. I keep calling it Galaxy Quest….that’s a movie. lol. I wrote this way before that came out. Over the years I’ve revised it a million times.

I wrote it as a short story for a contest, and the coordinator said it was a by invitation only contest, even though it said nothing about that on the website. It was supposed to be about a book/coffee store in the future. This was before I was published and I was writing everything and anything, and trying to get some writing recognition. Okay, so I LOVED the story, the characters, and I decided to create a futuristic world, different planet, romance, she’s a shifter, he’s not.And actually, this was my first shifter story ever. Way before I began to write more realistic ones. It turned into a full length book.

So this one will be coming out soon too! Like in a couple of weeks or so.

He’s a fighter pilot fighting the good fight in the Great Galaxy War, but when his spacecraft’s navigation is sabotaged and he’s stuck on an inhospitable desert planet awaiting repairs to his ship, he believes one woman might make his stay on the planet more than…hospitable. But the woman isn’t like any that Quaid Lassiter has ever met. She has secrets that can get him killed.

Zaira Cole is a shapeshifter, a pacifist, and is helping her scientist brother to turn the desert planet green. Her people must find the scrolls to give the High Council legitimacy and solicit help from Quaid Lassiter to train their pilots to fight in the war headed their way when they’ve always been a neutral planet. But she wants him for more than that. It’s mating season, she’s just turned of age, and she’s selected him for her mate. Now all she has to do is convince the Prince of Orion, he wants the same. And so the battle begins.

I’m so late today on everything. Nearly didn’t get the garbage out. Was playing the latest Mist game with my daughter last night, loving it, but I get so nauseous when I play with someone else, I took some medicine and then slept too late. 🙁

Playing games shouldn’t make you sick! The day has been off to a rough start, but now I’m ready to get going on Flight of the White Wolf. 🙂

Four of the books listed are written. I have to write three for 2018, so that’s why I never can tell how many I can actually finish because of edits that pop up, and life sometimes gets in the way!

I have my work cut out for me! I just finished Loving the White Bear, sent it to the first beta reader, and now I’m setting up the first page (after the title page) of Flight of the White Wolf.

I have 0 word count. It’s a daunting task when I start a book, knowing it has to be at least 80,000 words and filled with romance, wolf shifters, suspense, and humor, but in the beginning, you have to just…begin. And even after you begin, that might not be the real beginning. Who knows where the characters will ever take me?

Daily Goals, Anyone?

I finished edits on Dreaming of the White Wolf Christmas yesterday! When I’m finishing a book or doing edits, I don’t really know how long it’s going to take. But I still try to have a guesstimate so that I keep on track. I wanted to have Dreaming done by the 1st. It was the 2nd, but that’s okay, and I sent it in. Then I jumped on Loving the White Bear. I worked on five chapters, added another 2,000 words, and it’s over word count, which works. I’m up to ch 14 on edits, and my goal is to finish it in two days and send to the first beta reader. I’ve written to the end, but I need to add another scene, maybe some more transitions, don’t remember because when I keep switching from one book to another (to do edits on deadline), I have to begin from the beginning and read the book all the way through again.

And that’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

Once this is done and with beta readers, I’ll begin working on Gavin’s White Wolf story. I think for now I’ll call it Flight of the White Wolf.

I’m still messing around with the party stuff for the baby shower. I’ll show pictures of it later. 🙂 And I’ve decided to call Tanner the Sock Thief.

I’m off to work on Dreaming of a White Wolf Christmas! Had a disaster yesterday afternoon and lost the book file completely. Some stupid Windows termination, and the whole file went from a 400 page book to a blank page. And there was no way of getting it back.

Thank God I had it on my laptop, but not all the edits I’d done for two days. And thankfully, I’d been sending SOME of the changes on a personal message on FB to a beta reader to see what she thought, and so I was able to copy and paste those into the manuscript. But I still lost a whole page of edits and I have no idea what I had written or changed. So I spent until New Year’s working on the edits last night. Thought about taking pictures of the fireworks, but I was so upset about losing the book, that I concentrated on work and not play. 🙂 It sounded like we were in the middle of a war zone last night. Luckily, the dogs were okay.

I have a luncheon to go to later this afternoon, but before that, and after that, I’m rereading the book to see if any more changes need to be made, then it will be done, I’ll send it off, and get back to finishing up White Bear so I can get to work on my next wolf book. That is:

Untitled White Wolf–can’t remember whose story I said I was doing next. Have to find those synopses! Okay, found it. It’s Gavin’s story!
