Happy New Year!

In one of my cougar shifter stories, I have the heroine home alone on New Year’s Eve, but she can’t quit thinking about the bad guy she’s trying to take down–she’s a special agent with an agency–and so she gets herself into a mess, meets a deputy sheriff, also a cougar, who wonders what she’s thinking when she’s involved in a shootout in a ghost town, and that’s her wild and exciting New Year’s Eve. Her new year’s resolution is to have a great New Year’s, without the shootouts and all, for next New Year’s Eve.

Hope you all are having a lovely day today. I finally figured out how to assign skills to my characters in the game and guess what? I’m killing the monsters so much more easily! Which is a good thing because the next level is supposed to be really tough, so the Tower Avator warned me, and I was already having trouble. My kids laugh at me. My daughter told me I go into battles without the skills and armor and then wonder why I’m dying.

But hey, I watched a video a player had posted and his team was annihilated twice because he had his tank, the heavily armored guy, hiding in the background. He needs to be up close and personal with the bad guys to whittle down their health. An air elemental was chasing them around while they were trying to hide around rocks the second time. Didn’t work. So I didn’t feel so bad about two of my earlier battles. I know, misery loves company.

But I’m back in the game. Writing first though. I did 2500 words on the vampire story yesterday, but now I need to get onto writing the deadline book.

Have a wonderful day! I’m ready to eliminate some monsters and make the world right again.

Spinning Circles & 2 Chickadees

Two little chickadees visited my feeders yesterday nearing twilight. The sun was hitting my window and showing off the dust, lol, so I wasn’t sure how well the pictures would turn out. Note to self: Wash windows again. But the pictures didn’t turn out too bad. I love chickadees. They are so fast and flittery, they’re hard for me to capture. And yes, we still have roses in bloom.

Spinning circles–that’s what I was having when: I tried to edit my manuscript…spinning circle on my Word. Spinning circles on my blog. Spinning circles on everything.

Do you ever feel your life is on hold because of the evil, uncontrollable spinning circles?

For us, it’s New Year’s Eve and I’m having fun at my daughter and SIL’s this evening–dinner, games, movies, s’mores, yep, it’ll be fun. I picked up everything yesterday at the grocery store for the party. Hope I didn’t forget anything.

Yesterday, I managed another 4,000 words on the Vampire Redemption, which meant I caught up on the book, over halfway done, yay! I’m shooting for my 2,000 word goal, hoping I’ll get 4,000 before all the partying we’ll be doing today!

Do you have plans for New Year’s Eve if you haven’t already had yours on the other side of the world?

Start the New Year’s Right!

Christmas is over and it’s time to begin thinking about the new year.

Drinking until late into the night? Forget that! Early to bed, early to rise…and welcome the new year in right! I’ll be puppy sitting, so there’s no sleeping all day anyway, even if I could!

So two of my cougar stories have New Year’s themes, one, at the beginning where she goes to an old ghost town looking for answers about criminal activities as she’s in law enforcement on New Year’s Eve, nothing better to do, and ends up in a gunfight and meets the cougar who will change her life forever. And the other ends with New Year’s Eve, and New Year’s Day, and the trouble they have to deal with before they can get on with their lives in the new year.

A new year promises so much, to undo all the bad habits (ha!), and to make new ones (uhm, good habits, not new bad habits), to make new memories, to accomplish goals that have been put off, to start all over and make this year the best, or just to plug along and do what you’ve been doing all along, only having more fun along the way.

The new year can be daunting. For me, it means the beginning of having to write more deadline books, what do I write about now that’s new and different???? More teddy bear orders. They’re stacking up. And I haven’t finished writing Claiming the White Bear. *sigh*

But it’s also a time to take a breather or two and have fun. Hopefully, no category 5 hurricanes this year. We had snow too. Really bizarre for the Houston area. But great for pictures!

So Christmas is over, we had a really lovely time, and I’m ready for spring! Have a lovely day!!! I have to write!

Happy New Year!!!

happy-new-year-2017I’m off to work on Dreaming of a White Wolf Christmas! Had a disaster yesterday afternoon and lost the book file completely. Some stupid Windows termination, and the whole file went from a 400 page book to a blank page. And there was no way of getting it back.

Thank God I had it on my laptop, but not all the edits I’d done for two days. And thankfully, I’d been sending SOME of the changes on a personal message on FB to a beta reader to see what she thought, and so I was able to copy and paste those into the manuscript. But I still lost a whole page of edits and I have no idea what I had written or changed. So I spent until New Year’s working on the edits last night. Thought about taking pictures of the fireworks, but I was so upset about losing the book, that I concentrated on work and not play. 🙂  It sounded like we were in the middle of a war zone last night. Luckily, the dogs were okay.

I have a luncheon to go to later this afternoon, but before that, and after that, I’m rereading the book to see if any more changes need to be made, then it will be done, I’ll send it off, and get back to finishing up White Bear so I can get to work on my next wolf book. That is:

Untitled White Wolf–can’t remember whose story I said I was doing next. Have to find those synopses! Okay, found it. It’s Gavin’s story!

Untitled Silver Town Wolf–Sarandon’s story

Billionaire Wolf for Christmas–Rafe’s brother’s story

I thought I had synopsis for these, but I can’t find them!!! Oh, well, it’s a brand new year. And everything is the same as usual. lol

Have a wonderful day!

May the Force be with You

blaine-darth-vader-sometimes-the-force-is-with-you-900My son as Darth Vader and one of his AF friends, while her fiancee took the picture. I added the cool room and special effects. 🙂

Okay, so next up is New Year’s. Have you set goals?

Looks like I’ll be finishing Loving the White Bear, writing three new books for Sourcebooks–another white wolf, Billionaire Wolf Christmas, and Brett’s Silver wolf story. And, I need to write a fae story, Highland, cougar, and I’m missing someone, but can’t think of it now. I want to also write 2 more cougar Christmas novellas and a Highland novella. I also will be in a boxset with Taming the Wild Highlander and other Highland novels, so trying to get that ready pronto.

We’ll see what I can manage! No moves this year, but my daughter’s baby is coming, and I’ve promised to take care of the baby two days a week, so that will be starting probably in May.

I have a writer’s retreat in January, a baby shower to host in January, a bear to make for the baby, and a reader’s convention to attend in February, and Rita published books to judge in January. So lots of stuff to do writing-wise! AND, I want to plant more sky pencil holly along the fence. I need 18 more of them to line the whole fence. 🙂 I also want to play more with composites, learn how to get better, and take better photos!

Off to work! Make the most of the next 3 days, because after that, you have to start all over again and have fun in the New Year! No plans for New Year’s Eve except to work on all the writing projects I need to, and New Year’s Day, I’m going to a ladies’ luncheon.

What about you? Have some plans for the New Year?

Picture Bloopers with Pets

Don’t you love bloopers? I thought it would be fun to show a couple of the Christmas pictures that didn’t turn out and a couple that did.

Puppies a Blur

Christmas, Luna and Tanner 041 (640x427) (2)

To better. In the shot with the corgis, I think I had my puppies in the bedroom, which was why both were looking that way and not at the camera. Oh, well, at least they weren’t blurs. 🙂 <3

Christmas, Luna and Tanner 024 (640x427)Christmas, Luna and Tanner 036 (640x427) (2)

And there you have it!  Lots of bloopers and a few nice shots. I might have to include some of this stuff in a story. I actually have a lot of “real” life stuff in my stories, no matter how imaginary they may be.

So, are you doing anything fun today? I’ve been awake since 3, up since 4, so doing anything exciting beyond writing this blog just wears me out thinking about it. 🙂 The audiobook for Call of the Cougar came back last night, so I might start proofing it today.

What about you? Have any plans? Eat special dishes? Black eyed peas? I’m having stuffed bell peppers since I bought them for when my daughter and SIL were here and we didn’t eat them. So that’s on the menu. 🙂

Happy New Year’s!!!

OMG, It’s New Year’s Eve!!!!

Call of the Cougar starts at this time of the year and the heroine is sitting at home getting ready to watch 3:10 to Yuma and enjoy fajitas…alone. She has no plans for New Year’s Eve or New Year’s Day, when she gets THE CALL about a possible wildlife trafficking case that she needs to investigate.

Call of the Cougar FINAL WEB

Crime doesn’t stop for a holiday, after all. And she has nothing better to do than look into it–in case there’s something to it. She’s alone, she has nothing better to do, and she’s a workaholic. So despite it being snowy out and a really good day to stay home, she’s off to search a ghost town for evidence of wrongdoing.

Call of the Cougar: Looking for love can be dangerous…

Special Agent for the U.S. Department of Fish and Wildlife Services, Tracey Whittington, takes down wildlife traffickers and more, but what she doesn’t expect is to be in a shootout, multiple times, when the business turns deadly. Nor does she suspect she’ll be working with Hal Haverton, who serves as a part-time deputy for Yuma Town, Colorado, and runs his own horse ranch. As long as he doesn’t stop her investigative work—she has been placed on administrative leave due to the last shootout—she’ll be just fine.

Hal Haverton has every intention of keeping the wild cat safe, even if it means helping her to solve the case when every time he turns around, she’s involved in another shootout. When her boss asks their good friend, the sheriff, to have one of his deputies serve as a bodyguard for the cougar shifter, Hal’s all for it. So is the other deputy, but Hal’s got this covered. Even if getting somewhere with the lady means having his gun ready at all times. There are definite perks to getting to know the Special Agent better—if they live long enough to do something about it.

I think this is my only book, of maybe 60 books I have out?–I lose count–that is set during the New Year and what a disaster it brings.

We all hope for the best for the upcoming New Year, hopefully celebrate the passing of a year that had its ups and downs, and wish everyone the best the New Year can bring to them.

So on this New Year’s Eve, I want to wish you all the best!

Fireworks

I’ve been reading up on puppy anxiety, and who would ever have thought Tanner, the 9 week old would have puppy anxiety when he’s with Max. Max doesn’t have it. But then he’s 5 1/2 months old and so maybe when Tanner’s not so little, he’ll realize I will be with him when I can. I had a pen fence blocking the part of the family room that they’re in so that I could take down the Christmas decorations without them being underfoot, plus Tanner kept trying to chew on the tree branches. He could watch me and was barking his head off. *sigh*

But last night when I went to crate them, it was the cutest thing. I’ve been giving them a treat, and when I told them bedtime, Max actually went inside and sat. Sometimes I think I’m getting a handle on this alpha business and sometimes I think I’m failing miserably. But I’ve only had Tanner home a week, and Max, 2, and so we’re really doing great.

But back to the scheduled New Year’s. I don’t normally make New Year’s resolutions. I have so many book goals and such, that I just live from book to book. Of course, I’ll continue to work on the puppy’s housebreaking, mainly Tanner as Max has it down and is telling me he has to go out. But that’s just another necessary goal.

Do you make New Year’s Resolutions???

And keep them?

My goal was to have Phantom Fae done by Dec. Well, it’s finished, but I haven’t finished editing it. *sigh* I need to format Kissing the Highlander for release soon and get to work on my next wolf book. I really don’t have time for New Year’s resolutions, just deadlines. 🙂 <3

Are you planning anything special for New Year’s Eve or New Year’s Day? I used to always go to a movie. It was our special thing to do on New Year’s Day.

Happy New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day! May yours be extra special. 🙂
