We had our last Christmas party with one of the groups I belong to. I really love it here. When I lived in Crawford, there were no groups to belong to. The wild cornfield group. The roadrunner group. Well, that meant the cornfields and me…and the roadrunner and me. Oh, and the snake watcher’s group. I had more snakes than I could count.
We had free mimosas at the restaurant because of the holidays. So much fun! I wrote 2,000 words before I went, got some Christmas cinnamon candles at half off, and will scent the house with the candles for the holidays. So I walked all over the mall, and then the parking lot, looking for my car and got my exercise in too. Win-win!
My daughter has the winter break from school, so we’re spending the day out shopping and having lunch out. My son arrives on Thursday. So Friday, we’ll be running and doing something. We’ll be seeing the new Star Trek movie this weekend too.
I meant to finish Loving the White Bear before all the holidaying began. So that means Tuesday and Wednesday, no more goofing off. I did spend the evening editing 20 pages…. 🙂
Okay, I get it. I’m boring you. Get the picture taking over, already. 🙂 <3
It went from 80 to a wind chill of 22. I know that’s not that cold for our northern cousins, but, that much of a drop for us is a LOT. Eighty is not normal for us either. It’s very cold again today. It’s supposed to warm up after this. The puppies love the cold though. They have been having a ball running in it, and then when they come in, Max curls up on my lap to get warm, and warm me.
I feel like I need a polar bear coat.
Well, before I am off and running again, I’ve got to get back to writing.
Enjoy your Monday!!

“Giving new meaning to the term alpha male where fantasy is reality.”
Jess looks forward to a holiday season of saving puppies and
working at the shelter. With her new sister-in-law taking over the Yuletide
Gathering, it’s run for the hills or wind up covered in glitter. What she
doesn’t anticipate is her brother lining up yet another in a long string of
bodyguards. She might be a wolf who can’t shift, but that doesn’t mean she
needs anyone’s protection. When things heat up during the festivities, she
finds herself face to face with the one man who just might hold the key to her
heart.
It was supposed to be a two-week Ops for ridding the world
of hybrid wolves, not a babysitting gig for the spoiled sister of the Westmore
Pack Alpha. But when Thorne sets eyes on the curvy brunette, he finds a fierce
beauty with a soft interior just begging to be tamed, and he’s just the
gargoyle to do it.

Excerpt:
Thorne sat across the desk from his new employer and tried unsuccessfully to shake away the incredulous feeling gnawing at his gut. He’d come to Westmore with the understanding that this would be a two-week Ops mission to locate and destroy the violent hybrid wolves he’d been hearing about. They a role to play in his father’s death, he was certain of it, and now he could finally get the answers he was seeking and kill a few in the process. But, as he sat across from the Westmore Pack Alpha, he found himself staring at the man, completely disbelieving his ears.
“That wasn’t the job.”
“I want her protected.” Thorne met Carrick’s eyes, and Thorne struggled to hold in his frustration. This was why he’d been brought to the famed Westmore Estate? The Alpha was legendary for taking down his predecessors with nothing but brains and his own two hands…but to suggest he babysit a female? He was no one’s nanny.
“You want me to be a bodyguard? For a woman?” Thorne sputtered and erupted from the chair, stalking to the window. He kept one eye on the comings and goings outside and another on the man behind the desk. Thorne had come at night, as requested, to see the estate at its most vulnerable. What he hadn’t expected was to be insulted.
“Not just a woman. My sister. And the job is a trial period for two weeks.”
“And after?”
The Alpha thrummed his fingers on the desk. “We’ll talk about that if you’re still here.”
What the hell was that supposed to mean?
The door opened and another man entered, closing it behind him. Thorne eyed the man and waited to be introduced. The pinched look of the other man’s mouth and worry lines in his face indicated he cared about this woman. Interesting.
“Where is she?” the Alpha demanded.
“Probably at the shelter again. She’s not in her room and the guard at the front gate said she took off around eight this morning. Something about an adoption drive at Barks.”
“Thorne, this is Reid, my second in command.” Carrick ran his hand through his mane of dark hair and frowned. “Jesus, she knows I want her to be careful. I keep telling her to quit, but she won’t listen. After what happened with that fucking dragon…”
The other man, Reid, unconsciously rubbed at his arm.
“You were injured.” Thorne stepped away from the window and moved deeper into the room. He could sense their unease. Perhaps something more was happening here than met the eye.
“I was.”
Dragons? Now that was interesting.
“I was told there were hybrid wolves.”
“Originally, that was the contract. Yes.” Carrick rose from the chair, came around the desk, and leaned against it. “But we’ve come to find out that the previous alpha may still have some support out there.”
“A dragon?” Thorne raised an eyebrow. Dragon kind and Night Wing gargoyles were not on friendly terms. Territorial disputes in his homeland had made them natural enemies. But here? That would remain to be seen. Not that he would mind tangling with one.
“An old bastard of a firefighter, too. Seemed like he was setting more blazes at the end rather than putting them down.” Carrick’s lips thinned and his jaw clenched. “He endangered the life of my mate.”
Thorne considered the Alpha carefully.
“If you’ve rooted him out, then why am I here?”
“He’s not the only one,” Reid bit out. “We know there are more out there. What remains to be seen are when and where they choose to rear their ugly heads.”
“Why don’t you go to them?” It seemed a simple question, but the shuttered looks from the men in front of him stopped the suggestion before it could go any further.
“The Yule Gathering is coming and I want no complications. Likely as not, there are more of them out there and I won’t take a chance with my mate, my sister, or my pack. I spoke with your last employer and he said you were the best, most unobtrusive operative he had.”
“I am.”
And Thorne could find the creatures the Alpha sought. All he had to do was give the command.
Thorne wasn’t boasting. It was the truth. People paid for his work and paid him well.
“Good,” Reid snorted. “If you’re tailing Jess, you’re going to need it.”
“Is she your mate, this…Jess?”
“No.” A shade of pink crept up the sides of the other man’s face. “More like…a sister, if you want to know the truth.”
The Alpha sighed. “And she’s stubborn.”
“Yeah…”
The two men glanced at each other, a pregnant pause filling the room. Any information withheld could jeopardize Thorne meeting whatever goal they had in mind.
“What aren’t you telling me?”
“Her last bodyguard didn’t make it longer than a day.” Carrick closed his eyes, a twitch of humor playing at his lips.
This ought to be good.
“May I ask why?”
“He, ugh…went up in flames.” Reid coughed, but underneath the sound Thorne was certain he heard a note of laughter.
Flames?
“What did she do, torch him?”
“Not exactly.” Carrick cleared his throat and turned his face away in what Thorne was sure was an effort to compose himself.
Were they hinting he couldn’t handle a woman? It didn’t sound like she needed protection in the least.
Thorne’s lips curved up in a humorless smile. “If she’s such a force of nature, then why the protection? I thought your females were fierce.”
Reid met Carrick’s gaze and the Alpha cleared his throat until his second glanced away, his eyes finding Thorne’s.
“Tell him.”
“She can’t shift.” The Alpha sighed.
Reid crossed his arms over his chest. “Won’t shift. There’s a difference. She can but she doesn’t want to.”
“I don’t accept that.” Carrick pushed off from the desk and went to the window.
“Well, you’d better start. You and I both know that bastard damaged her. She may be strong for a female, but her wolf is broken,” Reid replied, his tone filled with frustration.
Thorne’s stomach lurched at the thought. To hear that her beast had been harmed was unacceptable. War with men he understood well, but not females. Women being abused made his skin crawl. He’d seen much in his line of work, but that was one thing he would not tolerate. It took a good bit of doing to squelch an animal. He should know.
“What happened?”
“You’ve heard what took place here? What the previous alpha did? The atrocities and the genetic experiments?” Reid asked with a bitter twist of his lips.
“I have. The overthrow of the previous regime was unavoidable. Your prowess in battle is legendary.” He nodded to Carrick in a show of respect. He’d found the main source but some of the tendrils remained. And he fucking wanted to tear out the rest of them by the roots. That was why he came here.
Reid shook his head. “That’s not what I mean. He took them…the girls. The women. He…”
“Stop.” Carrick’s voice was strained and his stance was tense. “We don’t need to hash out any of the details.”
So yesterday, I was adding more clues to SEAL Wolf Undercover, stopped to fixed lunch, and got a call from my editor, who wants more stuff in Between and Wolf and a Hard Place. Or she wants me to take out a bunch of characters. She wants more wolf stuff, less ghost stuff. Have I ever told you how if you change ONE thing. ONE little thing…even as much as moving a kiss to an earlier page in the book will change EVERYTHING. It’s like a tiny current that turns into a tidal wave.
I was reading over my sold synopsis of SEAL Wolf Undercover after I had written over 75% of the book and realized, horrors, the man attacked in the beginning of the book wasn’t dead. Really? So I had to go back and find all the killed, dead, murdered, and everything else that referenced it, and still as I edit and edit I keep finding dead man references using some other terminology. 🙂 Plus, he’s no longer just gone, he’s another person I have to mention–they have to check on him, be concerned, he has to come out of the coma, tell them things. I mean, I love it, but it’s amazing how going from dead to nearly dead really changes the story. lol
I told my editor I’m juggling 3 books, just finished with edits on another, and am having a hard time stopping one and starting over and over. So she gave me a little later date on edits, though I have a conference in the middle of that. So I stopped working on SEAL yesterday, and started proofing Jaguar, because I knew it would take only a couple of days to do it. I’d already read through the 5 or so comments, everything easily fixed, but I still need to read every single sentence to make sure they didn’t leave words out, which they did, when they did all their cutting and changing. And I found some words that needed to be changed because I had the same word, like dropped three times in a paragraph. It might not be really noticeable if you’re a fast reader, but if it’s made into an audiobook, it’s really noticeable.
I’m still proofing A Very Jaguar Christmas and was thrilled I should have that done today. This morning, if my daughter didn’t want me to follow her to the car dealership and make sure her bumper doesn’t fall off. But it should be done today. I think I have about 70 pages left, 230 done. I would have been more thrilled to have finished it, but now I have a major bunch of rewrites on the other book, and so it’s definitely not a time for celebration. So after proofing Jaguar and turning it in, I’m back to rereading SEAL, adding clues, making changes. I still need to get it to my beta reader, and the book is due in 13 days. ugh.
And Max kept wanting on my lap and I had to stop and wash them because they rolled in something. Tanner said it was Max’s fault that they got a bath because if he wasn’t such a momma’s boy and wanting on my lap all the time, they wouldn’t have gotten a bath.
He’s right.
Okay, off to help my daughter out and then back to work!
Have a super wonderful day!!! Mine is destined for deadlines.

“Giving new meaning to the term alpha male where fantasy is reality.”
I usually post first thing in the morning, but it’s hectic around here. So I turned in Billionaire edits, published Covert Cougar Christmas as a stand alone novella, and it’s available for sale now, and am working on promo blogs for the Feb release.
Cougar shifter, Dr. Kate Parker, is planning her annual camping vacation alone this year. She runs into trouble before she even starts her trip in the form of one wounded, hot cougar undercover cop—or so he says. He’s not going along with just her tender loving care because he came into town as a cougar, and he needs her help to get him back to where he can take up the search to look for an arms dealer, who just happens to be a cougar too.
Leyton Hill slipped into the unlocked, darkened clinic, figuring his luck had just changed. Except he doesn’t plan for the good doctor to be napping in her office. Taking him on her vacation wasn’t in the plan, and taking her hostage, hadn’t been either, but now she’s stuck with him until he can get back to his mission and the chase at hand. It appears the roles have reversed and who’s holding whom hostage now?
Came out in the Anthology: Alpha’s Unwrapped Dec 1, 2015
And I’m now working on promo blogs for SEAL Wolf in Too Deep, releasing February.

ISBN: 9781492621836
Review: Spear returns to her crime-filled world of wolf shifters, with plenty of emotional turmoil brought on by heinous acts and unspeakable danger. This is a sexy, smoldering tale of an alpha SEAL wolf shifter, and the woman who leads his heart into a dangerous passion. If you enjoy reading about uber-manly, hot-as-heck, possessive heroes, then this is a must-read!
Max: Really Momma? Tanner: Just pose and maybe she’ll let us go.
Yep, I’m packing and packing and packing. I can’t believe I have so much to pack. I keep thinking I have to almost be through, then I find more stuff.
Max hopped out of the box right off. Tanner followed, but when I put them both back in, Tanner was mugging it up for the camera. Max was ready to leave the box. 🙂
Okay, back to promo blogs and more packing.
Have a very Merry Saturday!

“Giving new meaning to the term alpha male where fantasy is reality.”
It’s freezing here. Okay, for Texas, for me, it’s freezing here. When we’ve had such hot weather, and then the temps drop drastically, it’s cold. Frost was all over the ground, so it was cold. It’s not just my vivid imagination. 🙂
The puppies curl up together all the time whether it’s hot or not, and I wanted to turn on the heat, but I can’t make myself do it. My electric bill shoots way up. So I put on more clothes and just enjoyed the cold. And the puppies are curling up together even more now. They used to sleep in the same crate which kept them warm. I might have to put little blankets in their crates so they’ll stay toasty warm when it gets really cold. One can sleep out of his crate in his bed, and he’s done it on and off for weeks now, which is warmer then the liners in their crates. Not sure I trust Tanner yet.
Oh, and Tanner turns one years old this month, but yesterday, look what he found!
Yep, he’s still a puppy and up to his old tricks. But now, he’ll just pose for a picture, and then he’ll release what he’s found and I don’t have to turn him upside down to get him to release it without a struggle. My baby is growing up. lol I do have a time with him as far as grooming though. His fur is so thick, though silky, and Havanese don’t shed. I brush them daily, but he’s terribly matted still from the stay at the kennel. Max is good. He sleeps on my lap while I groom him and his fur is thinner so easier to maintain.
Off to write on Viking! Have a great day!

I took this out the kitchen window because when I go outside, the butterflies flutter around like crazy. These seem to be the most common I’ve seen out there. They love the fermenting pears.
What is Mom up to now?
Peek-a-Boo
Though I shot the pictures of the puppies at different times, they make the perfect pairing. I have to take some of these shots with the phone because if I move around too much, I lose the shot. They were so good that they waited for me to take the shots. Often, they will jump down and come to greet me.
Sunset
A lovely sunset before the rains begin again.
I’m back to working on The Viking’s Highland Lass! Have a great day!

Superman Rilo is at the top, because he can fly, you know, while Aviator Max and Pirate Tanner are secretly plotting their next move, and Superwoman Luna is focused on the mission.
This is typical of how they look, not looking at the camera, Tanner’s head tilted up, looking like he’s ready to do a pirate’s howl, Max looking like he’s getting ready to run for his airplane, Luna blocking the view of Rilo’s costume.
So to get these other pictures was great!
I’m rereading Jaguar Christmas a final time before I turn it in, and then it’s back to Viking! 🙂 Have a super great Monday!

“Giving new meaning to the term alpha male where fantasy is reality.”
We live out in the country, only 7 houses on about 2 miles stretch of road, and all around us are cornfields or wheat fields. Everyone has the usual kind of house, the usual yards, the usual everything…except for one.
Here’s the story. A man owned it and his wife died of cancer. He was grief-stricken and was riding one of his horses one day, was drunk, fell, and got caught somehow and was dragged to his death. It was days before anyone discovered his body.
We were told the grown kids moved in. And then the house was no longer like everyone elses. At first, I didn’t notice. And then one day, I saw trash piled up all over the front porch, the yard, the garage was filled with it. Despite that the house was way back off the road, it had become a hoarder’s house and was truly an eyesore.
Just the other day, I see a trailer filled with trash, and a small stuff mover, not sure what to call it, but it would lift all kinds of stuff, only it was mini-sized, most likely a rental. And I figured that the hoarders had left and someone was trying to clean out the house. Again, I drove by, and the trailer was gone, the occupants gone, the front door wide open, the garage door damaged and cocked, remaining up as much as it could be. And I wondered what happened?
Had they not paid their taxes? Gotten evicted? Someone reported them as a health hazard who lives next door to them? They died? What? And why would the whole place be left open like that? To air it out because they had died inside? I wish I had gotten pictures just for posterity sake, but I didn’t feel safe about doing something like that.
So I wonder what had happened. Some time I’ll ask my next door neighbor. He’s from Texas. He always has a story.
But here are a couple of pictures of my puppies that tell a story.
Here the puppies are playing. They have no clue I even exist. But as soon as I get my phone ready to take a picture, Max’s attention switches to me. Then Tanner has to see what Momma is up to. And as you can see, Tanner’s tail is a blur as he wags it at light speed. Do you know what happens next?
Forget playing with each other, Mommy’s stopped working on her stories and now she’s going to play with us!
Do you ever take pictures that tell a story?
I’m off to work on edits and writing and exercise. Yesterday, not only did I get my word count goal in and editing of 6 chapters of the other book, I walked over 7 miles, AND I managed to take pictures! And that makes it the best of days ever.

“Giving new meaning to the term alpha male where fantasy is reality.”
My puppies are easy to pose. They do so naturally, or I can have them sit on a spot and hold it. But throw another dog in the mix and it’s chaos. One’s over here, another over there, and the third one only shows off a tail in the picture.
So imagine my excitement when I had my phone in hand and the puppies and their cousin were all sitting on the stairs or one was lying down and posing for me, AND held their pose long enough that I could get all three in the picture and no one was a blur. Not to mention all their body parts were included. But also, the stairs provided for the perfect setting, AND they were looking at me. 🙂 In the first picture, mine had their heads tilted a little. What does this mean in doggy language? They’re trying to figure something out.
Believe me, before this? I had tons of one fuzzy dog or two fuzzy dogs, or tails or heads. So it was quite remarkable to manage several of them where they were perfectly posed.
Okay, so I have a big release coming up! I’ve got SEAL Wolf Hunting and a giveaway at this site:
