Mallard Duck Art

The mallard duck was standing on grass next to a waterway, but the cement barrier next to it really messed up the picture. So I added some textures, removing the background.

I found some more miniature roses! And they came home with me. But it’s too hot to plant them. I’ll try first thing this morning. Of course I was so excited about getting the roses, I forgot my tortillas. lol Priorities, priorities.

This was supposed to post this morning, but didn’t! So I rescheduled it for 3 mins from now. Hopefully it will post. So weird.

Have a beautiful day!

Miniature Orange Roses

It was hot and sunny when I took the picture. I’ll have to take another when the lighting is better and with my camera, not my phone. The orange is just like this. Brilliant!

Have you ever seen something and wished you’d gotten it right then and there? Well, I saw these beautiful orange roses at the grocery store yesterday morning. They rarely have them, and they’re the only ones that get them. I’d never seen orange before. I have several other colors. I just adore them and this is the only place I’ve ever had success with growing them. So I picked up the orange ones and planted them and shared them yesterday. EVERYONE loved them. Me too. I decided to go back today to get the other orange one and maybe the hot pink. Pink and orange or purple and orange look great together. But they were all sold out and she didn’t know when they’d get any more in.

Sigh. So if you love something, don’t hesitate. It might not be there the next time you look.

I also picked up some bananas. I rarely eat them though I know they’re good for you. But I told my granddaughter about how I’d have them as a kid. Brown sugar and milk and bananas cutup. She asked me Monday if we could have them, but I didn’t have any bananas. So yesterday, I planned to pick a couple up and forgot. If it’s not on the list, not something I normally buy, I forget. Since I couldn’t find my roses, I grabbed a couple of bananas.

Tomorrow is her graduation from preschool, so we’re celebrating!

Have a beautiful day! I’m off to write–finally.

Giant Swallowtail and Storms

It’s been a morning and a half. About 2 months ago, I reinjured my shoulder where I’d torn the rotator cuff. It took a year to heal. But thankfully, in 14 years, it was fine. Until I reinjured it. I think it was lifting all those 40 lbs of bags of mulch, 18 of them about 2 months ago. Anyway, it kept getting worse and worse and worse. The first time, I had a frozen shoulder and could only raise my arm part way. I had to have surgery. It’s not as bad this time, but it aches constantly and so sleeping is intermittent.

So this morning I was in awful pain as usual, and I just gave up on it and began editing the book again at 4 am. We’ve had torrential storms from the tropical storm and had 9″ of rain already. I had to take the dogs out on their leashes to get them to do their duty. NO WAY were they going out in the lightning and thunder and pouring rain to do anything. They could hold it. Right. lol But if I took them out, they felt a little safer.

Anyway, so I’m up to ch 15, trying to still figure out how to end this. If I could get a couple of good nights of sleep, maybe I could figure it out!

I had made so many changes, so many new scenarios, so many shifts of scenes that I need to see if it was all working. So far, so good.

Have a great day! I love the rain. I wish it would spread out a little and not all come at once though!

Giant Swallowtail

on a Giant Zinnia

Their wings flap so fast constantly that I never know if I’ve just gotten a blur or something nice and clear.

I’m off to proof another 160 pages of Night of the Billionaire Wolf. Need to get this turned in so I can get back to Red Wolf Christmas.

Another sizzler for three more days and then the temps will be around 91 for a high, yay!

Have a super fun day!!!

Billionaire Proofing is Done!

Dragonfly watching the fairy in the cowboy boot, Tanner wanting to get into baby’s wading pool when she was gone, a tangerine zinnia, and a beautiful, magical sunrise.

A Billionaire Wolf for Christmas final proofing is done! I’m turning it in momentarily so I can get back to work on finishing SEAL. Nearly there. Jaguar edits will be coming any day.

Off to work!!! Have a magical day!

Playing Around with Photos!

So baby is here, so fussy, slept all night, didn’t want to be held, wanted to be held, ate a little, played a little, and I finally thought I’d try to put her down for a nap, even though I didn’t think she wanted one. That was it!!!

While she slept, I finished making up the collages for the Click, Grow, Love challenge. It was about taking pictures of what you see in the garden. So I did two: one on garden trinkets and one on flowers and animals in the garden. Though on the trinket one, I had a couple of doves take a seat next to the fairy and one on the stepping stone.

I also worked on a composition for a contest, though mine isn’t that great. Still have lots to learn. But they’re fun to do.

Okay, baby is awake and laughing, so must do something with her. I’m halfway through edits on the book, still no end in sight. lol

Have a wonderful day!!!

From Austere Beginnings to…

Bountiful beauty. And it gets prettier every day.

It’s like writing. It starts out with just a few words and builds and builds and builds until it’s a story.

And life starts out the same way.  With no thoughts of anything except eating and sleeping, and then awareness, dreams, the beginning of the beginning.

Have a day filled with good memories!

Grapevine, Really? & Happy Father’s Day!!!

maple life is sweet in a garden 002 (640x427)grapevine (439x640)Okay, skip writing, after cutting down the “maple” tree that was on top of the pine tree and the fence, I learn it wasn’t a maple tree at all. It was a wild grapevine. Think of the possibilities! Wine jellies. Wine wine. Hey, you know that some of our most famous writers were either high or…well, anyway, maybe THAT’S what I need for my muse. 🙂

Soooo, methinks I need to rethink this situation. I look them up. Are they going to take over my other plants in that area? Probably. BUT, I cut the trunk down already, and look how it’s sprouting from the roots again. So getting rid of it isn’t easy anyway. Now, what’s the good thing about it? It’s growing!!! No water needed. It’s native. AND it has grapes which both the birds and butterflies love. Since I’ve been so hard at work trying to coax butterflies and birds into the garden, maybe a well-trained grapevine could work.

Or not.

red leaf (640x427)

Oh, found a picture of the tree before I cut it down. Yes, it looks like a maple tree. I did good. 🙂

Since I didn’t kill the grapevine already anyway, might as well give it a chance to prove to me it is good for the garden. If that doesn’t work? Off with its head!

maple life is sweet in a garden 006 (533x640)Life is Sweet in the Garden. Yep. But sometimes ruthless. See the beautiful butterfly ornament? Very heavy and during the night, it fell over. Have no idea how it could have because it was stuck in the soil. But it did. And it didn’t fall toward the fence. It fell forward and crushed the coneflower in front of it. 🙁

So I moved the butterfly ornament for exhibiting bad behavior, found a spot where I could sink it deeper, and HOPEFULLY, it will behave itself.

Life is a story.

Have a super great day. I did all my promo blogs yesterday for my publisher. Hope! And then I worked on SEAL. I’m conflicted. Keep the story as it is? Or take out a few extra bad guys?

Remember, one change, changes all….

I hate that line they’re using in all the shows nowadays: It’s complicated. Are you as sick of it as I am? It’s a cop-out. But I think my base of villains might be too complicated. So I’m still thinking on it…what will the damage be if I take out some of them?

How many more rewrites?

But in the end, it doesn’t matter. I want it to be the best read it can be. 🙂

To the Moon

And Happy Father’s Day! When I have a chance to figure out one of my dad’s stories–I will write it! He was wearing goggles when he was little, and he was in the Army Air Corp, shot down during WWII, called up for the Cuban Missile Crisis on standby, and ended up working on the space program with our first mission to the moon. Soooo, it seemed just perfect. Thanks, Dad, for all the wonderful adventures you shared with me growing up. You will always be remembered.

Have a super great day!!! I’m off to make mine just as super!

More Deadlines!

So yesterday, I was adding more clues to SEAL Wolf Undercover, stopped to fixed lunch, and got a call from my editor, who wants more stuff in Between and Wolf and a Hard Place. Or she wants me to take out a bunch of characters. She wants more wolf stuff, less ghost stuff. Have I ever told you how if you change ONE thing. ONE little thing…even as much as moving a kiss to an earlier page in the book will change EVERYTHING. It’s like a tiny current that turns into a tidal wave.

I was reading over my sold synopsis of SEAL Wolf Undercover after I had written over 75% of the book and realized, horrors, the man attacked in the beginning of the book wasn’t dead. Really? So I had to go back and find all the killed, dead, murdered, and everything else that referenced it, and still as I edit and edit I keep finding dead man references using some other terminology. 🙂 Plus, he’s no longer just gone, he’s another person I have to mention–they have to check on him, be concerned, he has to come out of the coma, tell them things. I mean, I love it, but it’s amazing how going from dead to nearly dead really changes the story. lol

wet doggies and fairy writing 007 (640x427)

I told my editor I’m juggling 3 books, just finished with edits on another, and am having a hard time stopping one and starting over and over. So she gave me a little later date on edits, though I have a conference in the middle of that. So I stopped working on SEAL yesterday, and started proofing Jaguar, because I knew it would take only a couple of days to do it. I’d already read through the 5 or so comments, everything easily fixed, but I still need to read every single sentence to make sure they didn’t leave words out, which they did, when they did all their cutting and changing. And I found some words that needed to be changed because I had the same word, like dropped three times in a paragraph. It might not be really noticeable if you’re a fast reader, but if it’s made into an audiobook, it’s really noticeable.

VeryJaguaryChristmas_select (2)

I’m still proofing A Very Jaguar Christmas and was thrilled I should have that done today. This morning, if my daughter didn’t want me to follow her to the car dealership and make sure her bumper doesn’t fall off. But it should be done today. I think I have about 70 pages left, 230 done. I would have been more thrilled to have finished it, but now I have a major bunch of rewrites on the other book, and so it’s definitely not a time for celebration. So after proofing Jaguar and turning it in, I’m back to rereading SEAL, adding clues, making changes. I still need to get it to my beta reader, and the book is due in 13 days. ugh.

And Max kept wanting on my lap and I had to stop and wash them because they rolled in something. Tanner said it was Max’s fault that they got a bath because if he wasn’t such a momma’s boy and wanting on my lap all the time, they wouldn’t have gotten a bath.

He’s right.

Turning a Yard into a Whimsical Garden

garden in the sun, planted pots, bay laurel 035 (427x640)Colorful planter gardening. Hopefully my plant pots aren’t too small, but nothing else will fit in the stands. These were my mother’s, so I had to put them to good use. The colorful pots are mine. They’ve really gone to whimsical colors just so I can have a whimsical fairy garden.  🙂

garden in the sun, planted pots, bay laurel 033 (640x427)I’m adding a border, but when I did it, I realized I need to cut back more grass. The white bricks behind the lavender against the fence is to keep the dogs from going on at each other as much beneath the fence. It worked to begin with. My puppies thought the brick wall I had at my old house was up for a while. 🙂  I ran out of pavers, so when I have a chance, I’ll go back in and get more.

garden in the sun, planted pots, bay laurel 029 (634x640)garden in the sun, planted pots, bay laurel 031 (640x427)So I’m getting the rights back to Deadly Liaisons, and I’m working on getting it ready to publish. I need a new cover, so still working on finding the right picture, and almost done with edits.

Off to talk to the CPA about the taxes!
