The mallard duck was standing on grass next to a waterway, but the cement barrier next to it really messed up the picture. So I added some textures, removing the background.
I found some more miniature roses! And they came home with me. But it’s too hot to plant them. I’ll try first thing this morning. Of course I was so excited about getting the roses, I forgot my tortillas. lol Priorities, priorities.
This was supposed to post this morning, but didn’t! So I rescheduled it for 3 mins from now. Hopefully it will post. So weird.
I’m off to ship books and work on the story. I might have reached 20K last night. I have to type my notes. I did finish proofing Dawn of the Jaguar audio book. Yay! Today’s goal is 22K and it’s going to be warm today and tomorrow. Chilly this morning. So looking forward to the two nice days before the Ice Age hits on Thursday and Friday! That’s why I’m getting some other stuff done today while it’s going to be nice.
They had some of the most interesting ducks at the Japanese gardens in Houston. I hope to go back some time when we don’t have a pandemic to deal with!
I managed to edit A Date with a Wolf, need to read it through again and check over for any more mistakes and write a Letter to the Reader. I was thinking about it at 4 am this morning, not something I want to be doing at 4 am! I also managed to write 5,000 words on Saving the White Cougar. It’s at the halfway point on word count, yay!
After the big zoo trip the night before last, when little one came over for 5 1/2 hours, she was so tired. As soon as they got in that night, they said she woke from her car ride, it was 10, but she still wanted her regular routine, bath, book time, and so they sped it up. But it was still so late.
That meant, she just wanted to chill and watch stories when she was here yesterday and I could write. Yay!
I have edits that came in on Jingle Bells Wolf–don’t like the title, but what can I say?
And I hope to do that and get writing in. I normally can’t but with writing for words against monsters, I’m able to get a lot more done, and can still do lots more other stuff. Like comb out the dogs and watch movies.
I started a weird scifi series last night. Tanner is so matted from not combing him when my son was here, so I will need to keep working on it until he’s dematted. I love non-shedding breeds, but then the matting can be an issue.
All right, no more chitchat, got to get to writing–monsters to chase away, cougar battles to fight, Arctic wolf battles to fight, jingle bells wolves to edit… My day is full.
Duck that makes a funny chirping sound. I was showing the picture to my granddaughter who wanted to pet the duck at the zoo, so when she saw it on my monitor, she thought it was real. After I asked her what the duck says, quack-quack, she wanted to pet the duck. lol And the brown pelican was eyeing me too while I was capturing the picture of him.
Watching TV is not good for me. I’ve decided. At least in terms of productivity! But after watching baby all day, I needed a break.
Okay, so I finished the cover for The Witch and the Jaguar and finished proofing it. Hopefully, I’ll have it ready to publish today.
At the Waco zoo, they had a really cool bird walk-through and the birds were just not afraid of us. The place was empty on Friday after Thanksgiving, so we had the place practically to ourselves for a few hours. Several of the birds were sitting on the fence keeping the wild animals (that’s us) out of their home, so they were right next to the walkway. (The bald eagle was in an enclosure of his own.)
Love the pelicans. They always remind me of a pterodactyl.
I’m up at 1, couldn’t sleep, so thought I’d get some things done, like unpacking my suitcase, blogging, and editing on Woodland Fae.
The temperature dropped thirty degrees from yesterday, so it went from 63 in the morning to 33. Too much of a drop!! But by Thursday it will be 76 again. Weird weather.
All kinds of different birds, all beautiful in their own feathers.
I’m off to do all kinds of things early this morning and then have to pick up sick baby from daycare. Today was supposed to be my baby day off, but I know she sleeps better here, if she can sleep. It means no writing though. I did manage 2,000 words yesterday and finished a bear I need to ship this morning.
So I was at the Disney RWA Conference, book signings, networking, workshop hopping, editor meetings, firework watching, storm watching, rides, rides, rides, and rides. Walked between 9-11 miles a day! In the 98 degree heat and the 76+% humidity.
Rode monorails, ferries, and buses. Walked and walked and walked. And Walked. Got drenched.
When I go to a conference, I try not to just go to the conference. I want to see the area because….I paid a lot of money to get there. And….oh, wow, it’s just great for stories. And picture taking!!! And sharing.
This was the best birding place ever!!! Saw all kinds of different birds, and flowers, and the birds are so used to the millions of people, that they pose beautifully for pictures.
Even the squirrels and bunnies do!
Hope you had a great day!
