A Little Owl and Mouse Whimsy

I’m working on taxes and started on chemo again today, so I needed a little whimsy in my life. These are clipart PNGs (owl, mouse and flowers) on the plate and painted backgrounds, some overlayed to give the painted effect through the window and on the wall. I do a lot of color coordinating also to make it feel more natural. It’s just a fun thing to do when I’m stressed out.

I also cut back more branches to clean the crepe myrtles up. Lots of work to go.

Little Owl Looking up over His Shoulder

It’s amazing how they can turn their head so far around on their body!

Yesterday, I did manage to get 1,000 words done, and I cut back on some crepe myrtle branches. Their trunks are so beautiful, but then they shoot up all kinds of new shoots, some that crisscross and wear on other branches, and this is the time to cut them back before the crepe myrtles leaf out and flower. I have a ton of them since they have volunteered in places where I didn’t plant them. Which is mostly everywhere. I only planted 5. The others have come from birds, I think, because they are different-colored flowers from the 5 that I planted.

They are beautiful, but I just have to keep after them a bit so they stay that way. They say to let them have trunks in a multiple of 3 or 5 or 7, that they’re more aesthetically pleasing to the eye that way.

I’m also cutting back Esperanza that died during the frost, but is coming back at the roots, and other flowering plants like that. Some made it through the frost, others didn’t, but they’re all coming back from the roots.

I’m off to write before I don’t have the chance to.

My Primitive 1st Attempt at Painting a Pumpkin

Wild day and night. Have little one here today, so not getting a whole lot done, but the Halloween decorations are away.

It’s the start of NaNoWriMo! So for the month of November, I hope to write 50,000 words, 28,000 on the Wolf Pack novella, and the rest on Angel Fae. I’ve been working on Angel Fae a little this morning.

Okay, off to play and work. I was teaching my granddaughter dominoes. It says for children 8 and older, but she was doing really well and she’s only 4.

Owl at Wolf Canyon. They have taken in owls and bald eagles that have been injured. My son took the picture, I did the photo art, trying to emphasize the details on his feathers more and take away the background distractions. Focus was more on the tree, but this is the first time he’s used my camera. Wish I hadn’t broken my wrist before visiting him. It will be the last time I’ll get to see the reserve. They’ll be moving to Japan in April.

For those who celebrate it, hope you all are having a great Labor Day weekend. I managed 3500 words yesterday. I wanted to get to 4000, but we went out to eat with my SIL’s parents and the kids and took photos at a park and I didn’t get home until 8:30 PM. So I finally just worked on some edits.

I updated my word count calendar and I’m going to make 84K by deadline, if I just manage 2,000 words each working day. So still need to do 3,000 for four more days.

Off to write!

Someone Has to be in Charge

Can you imagine telling a dragon what to do? Just pretend it’s a very big lapdog. Feed it well. Pet it nicely. Speak soothingly. And always remind him that you are the boss.

Now that you’ve had your lesson 101 in being in charge, I’m back to writing and trying to take charge of my characters. It’s not working. They often take over. And then there are the dogs. The granddaughter–toddler, you know. But in the end, it all works out.

Birds Not of a Feather

All kinds of different birds, all beautiful in their own feathers.

I’m off to do all kinds of things early this morning and then have to pick up sick baby from daycare. Today was supposed to be my baby day off, but I know she sleeps better here, if she can sleep. It means no writing though. I did manage 2,000 words yesterday and finished a bear I need to ship this morning.

When You’re Sick…

Get plenty of rest, right?

Are they kidding? Painful sore throat, teeth hurt so they feel they need to be pulled, can’t breathe, coughing…

Get plenty of rest???? I wish!

Even though I felt terrible yesterday, I managed to proof the last two fae print books, and two of the ebooks.

Baby is coming. She’s the one who gave me this. I love her anyway. 🙂 <3 She picks up everything from the daycare. I usually am lucky to dodge most of it. But I caught what she had in October, and now again….

All I need to do is rest though. Yep. Easy. Peasy. AFTER…she goes home for the night! And IF all the stuff that’s keeping me awake, goes away. No problemo.

Just…nod off and I’m good.
