Dragons Guarding the Tomato Plants

So I was trying to get the tomato plants used to the filtered sun but the wind wasn’t cooperating. And then my garden dragons jumped right in to save the day! Aren’t they the little dears?

I finally planted all of the tomato plants. All 7 of the 5. Yes. You read that right. My daughter told me she gave me 5 tomato plants and when I had planted 3 of them, I realized I had 4 more. lol Anyway, white, red, pink, yellow, and midget (2), and burgundy. It should be fun! If they all make it. They already had 6 tomatoes on them. And all of them were in bloom. I LOVE tomatoes.

I managed to write another 3,000 on Wolf Pack and am at 12K. Off to write and do some more weeding.

There Be Dragons–Fantasy Art

I love dragons! Though if they were real, maybe not so much. I think we might be a midnight snack.

I’m off to do something. Not sure what. I finished the synopsis for Wolf on the Wild Side, still working with the narrator to finish up His Wild Highland Lass, looked over half a dozen books in the making, and need to start the next deadline book–Lachlan MacQuarrie’s story, another Highland Wolf tale.

It’s cold! I brought the tomato plants in last night and it’s supposed to get a little warmer late this afternoon, then freezing again tonight. One of the plants already has a tomato on it!

I’m off to get to work on something. Have a beautiful day and let your imagination soar with the dragons!

I Feel Like This…

in this cold, cold weather.

Added 2,000 more to the vampire story yesterday. This morning I’m just trying to get warm, though I need to take out the garbage and the dogs. Yesterday, we had heavy frost on everything and the roofs made it look like it had snowed.

In other news: you just never know where a story idea might come from. I was reading an article about reversing aging by adding certain chemicals to cells. Now, just think of the repercussions of that! Even very old people can rejuvenate their bodies through this process. Not just stop aging, but reverse it! Sounds like science fiction.

Can you imagine all the businesses that would be put out of business? All the new startup businesses that would evolve? Some that would be illegal, trying to sell a product that would be dangerous to users? Or cheaper because the procedure is too expensive? Facelifts are out. Forget the cosmetics that claim rejuvenating ingredients.

Chemical salons would start up and people could sit in the salon chairs to get their chemical treatments and watch their wrinkled skin tighten and become ageless.

But what if you get addicted to it? Like some are to plastic surgery? What if one treatment every year isn’t enough? What if…you went too far. Or it affected people differently. One rejuvenated the right amount, and another became a juvenile.

For the condition in children where they age rapidly, this might be a good way for them to aid them in slowing down or even reversing the process. For the rest of us? Hmmm, could I remember more? Write faster? Have a few more years to finish the millions of books I have on my computer and in my head before I die?

Done! Done! Done!

Sometimes you can claim something as your own, and sometimes you need to just give it up to someone, or something, that wants it worse.

I’m done!!!!! 17,000 words over word count and the book is finished and I did the marketing materials and it’s done! Now the book is with my beta readers, I sent the marketing materials in, and I finished planting dianthus, daylilies and flower seeds and weeded some more.

I set up a folder for the next book: Billionaire She-Wolf Ready for Action. That’s my working title anyway. I have Chapter 1 done. As in Chapter 1. Not the chapter. But hey, it’s a beginning!

But today, I’m cleaning the house. And then, I’m going to continue thinking about the new book, and then begin to write it!

Someone Has to be in Charge

Can you imagine telling a dragon what to do? Just pretend it’s a very big lapdog. Feed it well. Pet it nicely. Speak soothingly. And always remind him that you are the boss.

Now that you’ve had your lesson 101 in being in charge, I’m back to writing and trying to take charge of my characters. It’s not working. They often take over. And then there are the dogs. The granddaughter–toddler, you know. But in the end, it all works out.

Took Time to Play

I took my grand-daughter to the reading program they had at the Woodlands Mall Barnes and Noble, but most of the kids were about 4 years old and she’s only 20 mos. Needless to say, she sat still for 2 books and by the third, she was ready to get into the coloring pages. So we left. The lady had to read three more books and that wasn’t going to work for us. lol

We had lunch, I signed books, and I showed her all the cool stuff at the mall. She actually showed me the sculpture of the bird each time we passed through that way and I finally took a picture of it. It’s huge. But that was her favorite sculpture.

And she fell asleep on the way over there and on the way back, so good day! Plus, she helped me to put pine needles on the flowerbed while I raked.

But, I didn’t get any writing done. Some days are just a time to play.

Doggy Daycare, Dragons, and a Cougar Wannabe…

Okay, so no baby this week. I’ve got corgi power instead. Rilo, the black and tan Welsh Pembroke corgi, was my first grandbaby. 🙂 Luna came after that. So I’ve been their grandmama before my dogs came along and before the first grandbaby–human persuasion, came along. Here they are with my dogs chilling out near where I am at my desk. “What, Max??? Don’t tell me you want to go out! Now! When everyone just got settled down.”

Yep, and so it goes. I take three dogs out at a time. Mine don’t usually hassle the next-door dogs, but the corgis will, so I take them out on leash, one at a time, for the most part. I did “lose” Luna as she darted out the door one time, and Rilo another. But I was lucky. The neighbor’s dogs weren’t out. They all go crazy.

Because I write about fae dragon shifters, I had fun with creating the dragons courting in the one picture. You thought they were fighting, didn’t you? I write HEA so they are HEA. 🙂 And I write about cougar shifters. So I thought it was fun that the Abyssinian cat wishes she could be a cougar when she grows up.

I’m off to write. It’s supposed to be stormy, so I’m hoping it won’t be too much of a hassle taking the dogs out in the rain all day. 🙂

There Be Dragons

I always do research for my stories and when I introduced dragon shifter fae in Dragon Fae, Hawk Fae, Phantom Fae, and now the latest I’m working on in Golden Fae, I wanted to learn the meaning of the color of their scales. This helped me to add personality to fit their character pertaining to the symbolism associated with their color.

Now, sure you’ve probably heard of red dragons, brown, green, just a variety of colors. Brown, for instance, may sound dull, but mine has shiny gold edging his scales and he is earth tones, which relate to fertility. Since it’s YA, I handled it this way:

Then he saw a dragon flying overhead. Olaf, a brown dragon, his scales edged in gold making them shimmer in the moon or sun’s light, and though he was only brown, he had such a way with the women, it didn’t seem to matter much. Not that Alton and their friends still didn’t give him a hard time. His coloration signified the earth and fertility and he should have been earthbound. Seeing him here now really irritated him. What was he even doing here?

He landed on the cobblestone next to Alton and shifted. He was wearing more standard fae fare, a brown suede tunic, britches, and boots. Well, for him it was standard. Other fae wore different colors, but Olaf liked to be brown—as if when he wasn’t wearing his dragon scales, he was still wearing them—in the form of fae clothes.

Now in Golden Fae, I’m having some fun. Well, I’m always having fun.

One of the dragons is changing colors when he shouldn’t be. Just all of a sudden. So I wondered, could he turn into a violet-colored dragon? There is NO such thing in their world.

He has no control over the shifting of the color of his scales. And the dragon games are coming up. All dragons participate to best each other, to win a pile of gold, and to entertain the dragon fae who are not shifters. But no way does he want to show up in violet-colored scales. And he desperately wants his scales to settle to one color, no other. He looks like some kind of freak!

Could be up to a foot of rain this week, flooding, hail, severe thunderstorms, tornadoes so staying home. So far just on and off rains.

Finished sewing up the bunnies, now just need to embroider them all. My problem is the house is so dark, really high ceilings, and new fan lights restrict using anything more than 40 watt bulbs, ugh, so it’s really dark. I ordered a swing arm table lamp that takes a 150 watt bulb, so I hope that helps when it comes in. I was used to having lower ceilings and lots of lights at the other house.

Back to the story!

When I was applying for jobs after earning an MBA and had been an Army officer, I applied at a university where the good old boys were shocked that the Army officer was not a man. That happened more than once to me, even while on active duty, which was the basis for having written these stories. Anyone can do any job if they have the proper skills and determination. 🙂
