Chickadee feeding its Babies in a Birdhouse

I bought one for my daughter also a couple of years ago and for the first time, she also had chickadees in hers. Who knew it was perfect for the tiny birds! Though I might have had the chickadees nesting in the birdhouse last year, but I was in the hospital then.

Well, I almost have word count. I want to get it done today.

We had a ball for Easter Sunday. The kids were ready to go home when my grandson (4), saw the egg cartons I had out for them to use in the garden. He asked what they were for. We had a back and forth discussion–you can take them home and plant them. Mom–no, you can do it here. Then the grandkids wanted to do it right then and there. I was worried about their nice Easter clothes. So we got them all covered up, gloves on, dad carried the bag of dirt out for us, each grandchild had an egg carton, I had the seeds and hand shovels.

I had the grandkids fill up egg cartons with dirt that will dissolve in the ground, then add zinnia seeds, and then bury them completely with dirt in their flowerbeds. Then they took their cartoonish watering cans and covered them in water.

After we went inside, my grandson was watching out the back door and asked if the flowers had sprouted yet. lol Love the grandkids. They’re always so cute. But I love that they enjoy planting in the garden too. My granddaughter picked flower seeds that only showed hummingbirds and butterflies on them. If they had bees on them, she said, “Nope.”

Okay, I’m off to get some work done. I’m trimming back my sunshine ligustrum, should have taken a before picture, but doing like my daughter did with hers, making them more tree like. Then she plants underneath them. They are killing my grass off because of the lack of sunlight, and I have moss growing instead. But also, my side yard isn’t that wide, so they’re overtaking it. Luckily, I got all the branches I already cut last night bundled up and out to the trash this morning. But later, I’ll begin working on them again today.

The chickadees rarely sit still for me, so I got lucky, though it would have been better if the chain hadn’t been in the way.

So I forgot to blog today. Little one is here today and we were trying to learn how to read some words. She hates doing it, so I was trying to make it fun. If she could read the word on the card, she took a step forward. When she read enough and was to me, we hugged. Now what can be better than that?

She’s down for a nap, but she should be up any minute now. It’s a rainy day. We hurried to the mailbox to get the mail before we got too wet and did the same to feed the birds. 100% chance rain all day and night.

Chickadee Art

I hardly see the chickadees sit for any length of time to get a good shot. This one was waiting on a dove to vacate the feeder. They are so tiny and move so fast.

Hope you all are staying safe! Looking forward to a better new year in the future, but it will take some time to get there. And if tons of people refuse to get the vaccine, then we’re going to have a rougher time of it ahead. But maybe those of us who do want it will get it sooner than we’re hoping for. I always try to look at the bright side of things.

Off to battle more monsters with words. I’ve already written 1300, ended up with 6600 words yesterday, and that’s after having fun with the kids too. I’m about halfway done on Dangerous Liaisons!

Off to work I go!

Changing the Mood

A little chickadee in three different moods. It’s like writing too. Stories have mood. Scenes have mood. You have moods.

I managed to get 2,000 on Wolf in Need and 2,000 words on Highland Wolf! Now when I say that, it’s usually more. I just have to get the 2,000. The day before yesterday, it was 2273 on Highland Wolf. Last night it was 2375. And on Wolf in Need, I’m 55 words closer to my goal today.

The dishwasher repairman is supposed to come today. Yay!

I managed to fight all the monsters over again in Tower of Time, after I did the wrong thing for one of my characters in a challenge and she wasn’t balanced. Can’t have that. Luckily, I had saved an early game, but had to go through all the battles again. So now I’m on the 8th floor in the tower. Yay!

And it’s going to be warm again today, which means I’ve got to do more yard work. Tomorrow little one will be here and it’s supposed to be rainy and cold. For us. It’s all relative. It’s certainly not cold like it is up north. Here, we have lots of flowers blooming.

Okay, I’m off to write before these guys get here. Between 8-12. Will they arrive at 8? I’m ready! But I’m not counting on it!

Chickadee

I love the little chickadees. I’m always asked where I got the bird feeder from. It’s actually a plant basket! And it works great for the blocks of bird seed, plus it makes for pretty pictures.

Little one is here. I managed 3,000 words yesterday on Highland Wolf, but I need to get Wolf Fever started too.

I’m off to get breakfast for a picky toddler.

Spinning Circles & 2 Chickadees

Two little chickadees visited my feeders yesterday nearing twilight. The sun was hitting my window and showing off the dust, lol, so I wasn’t sure how well the pictures would turn out. Note to self: Wash windows again. But the pictures didn’t turn out too bad. I love chickadees. They are so fast and flittery, they’re hard for me to capture. And yes, we still have roses in bloom.

Spinning circles–that’s what I was having when: I tried to edit my manuscript…spinning circle on my Word. Spinning circles on my blog. Spinning circles on everything.

Do you ever feel your life is on hold because of the evil, uncontrollable spinning circles?

For us, it’s New Year’s Eve and I’m having fun at my daughter and SIL’s this evening–dinner, games, movies, s’mores, yep, it’ll be fun. I picked up everything yesterday at the grocery store for the party. Hope I didn’t forget anything.

Yesterday, I managed another 4,000 words on the Vampire Redemption, which meant I caught up on the book, over halfway done, yay! I’m shooting for my 2,000 word goal, hoping I’ll get 4,000 before all the partying we’ll be doing today!

When it Rains, it…

Little Chickaee on a Wet Rosebush

Pours. 19″ of rain, roads flooded, and schools are out today. We were under 40 flood watches last night, down to 10 flood watches today, and only 50% chance of rain this afternoon.

My daughter is off from work because of the flooding and we’re having a tea tasting party and watching a movie. Then I’m back to writing.

Ten days to go, and I still am a LONG way from getting the book done. Argh.

Have a super day! We finally got rain! And rain. And rain. And….

Blue Octopus Saga Continues

Not again! I was on the chatline on Amazon again, trying to get rid of the charges for the the teapot that keeps revisiting me in my nightmares. I did not want it, Sam I Am. Not in a house or with a mouse. Not on a boat or with a goat. I do not want it, Sam I Am!

So quit charging me for something you tell me that has been returned, 3 times!

Okay, now that I have that off my chest, I feel better. Until the next time. To be continued…

Hopefully not!

You know, if I wrote this in a book, everyone would think it was pure fiction.

I took this picture in Minnesota of a chickadee on a little red barn feeder.

So I was nearly finished with reading SEAL Wolf Surrender last night, but I have to keep taking breaks so I don’t start skimming over the words. That’s how I normally read books, so it’s hard to break that habit when I need to edit. I did walk 4.6 miles while I’ve been doing this though.

We have another scorcher today! Have a great one, and may you never be visited by a blue octopus you don’t want. Ever.

Chickadees and Cardinals

I adore chickadees (rarely see them, but my rosebush has grown to five feet tall and cover the feeders, so I think they feel safer to feed), and I had two of them at the same time, but they’re so quick that I couldn’t catch two of them together at once. And the little female cardinal is a baby. I pictured her momma and daddy yesterday. There are two babies.

Sooooo, I did get my word count, but I also spent tons of time trying to fix things. I took a broom handle to the disposal. Yay! It worked.

I talked to Apple techs for an hour and a half, and finally, finally got my issue resolved. And the plumbers fixed my plumbing. So those were three of the MAJOR issues I needed to fix. The phone still does its out of control like a robot has gone haywire alerts. And my tires still say they need inflating.  Well, not the tires exactly, but the idiot light in the car does.

So that’s not bad, really. The three really important things were fixed. The others…I still need to resolve. The issue with my Mac came up when I did an update. The issue with my phone came up when I did an update. Do you see a pattern here????

Okay, 10,000 words to go to get word count, AND I have edits on a book I need to finish and turn in, so happy weekend, everyone!

Early, Late, or On Time?

When I was in the army, I had a boss once who said he didn’t want us there to give a briefing early or late. He wanted us there on time. “You’re wasting the government’s time if you’re early. You’re wasting the general’s time if you’re late. So come on time.”

What are you normally? Always running late? Have to be there early? Never want to waste time and are right there on the button?

You know if you’re running late, nothing will go your way. You’ll get behind slower traffic, get a flat, run into every red light. If you’re early, all the lights will be green, no traffic to speak of, car’s running fine and you’re there even earlier than you had wanted to be. I know. Because I always try to be early anywhere I go. But the moment I’m running behind on time….

I turned in the changes to SEAL Wolf Undercover, caught up on my word count on Double Cougar Trouble, and finally figured out what I was going to do with White Wolf and sent in the materials I needed to–long synopsis, short synopsis, etc.

For a second, that means all I have to do is finish writing Cougar Trouble, unless I’m forgetting something. 🙂

And then the new sky pencil holly are already attracting birds. This chickadee was diving in and out of the spindly, newly planted shrubs.bird-on-new-holly-900-005

And then a blue jay came to explore. Just add a little plant life and the animals will find a home.

blue-jay-new-holly-900-006I forgot my excerpt yesterday, so will try to do that tomorrow. 🙂 Otherwise, it’s back to writing and walking and taking pictures.
