We Survived the Weekend!

Other than one of the corgis being sick all weekend, which meant cleaning up diarrhea in her crate, two mornings in a row, the floor, and washing all the dog bedding and her, and the floors where she tracked it through the house, other than the other corgi throwing up in the house and leaving a present in my bedroom, and one of my dogs throwing up on the patio, and other than my granddaughter and I being sick still, it was a great weekend!

They look so adorable, it’s hard to believe they can be such a mess. lol They’re all very lovable.

I actually got 8 hours of sleep yesterday, miraculous! Not this morning. I was sick again. ugh. She and the dogs went home last night. Nice and quiet. My dogs went to bed early and I played my game. Oh, and I did edit more pages of Vampire Redemption. I tried to write, but with 4 dogs and one toddler, impossible.

But she was really good the whole weekend, and we took a 2-mile walk yesterday because we felt better. She didn’t miss her parents, knew they were coming back for her and that was my biggest worry. And getting her to sleep so I could sleep some! At her young age, it’s iffy, but she does spend a couple of days a week with me, so she’s used to being here. And naps and nighttime? We had a routine, and it worked!

So I’m off to write because Friday I didn’t get my word count, too sick, and I have to get it today!

So I received a note from my editor on You Got Me at Jaguar. They want to change Howard’s last name. No problem, except that he is in a couple of other books that are already published.

I run out of names. Pure and Simple. I make up names for secondary characters, trying to ensure I don’t have the same name because what if–and this has happened–I end up with a hero in one book, and then a hero in a much later book, with the same last name. OMG, I planned it that way! They are now brothers. But sometimes I make a name that my editors don’t feel is hero material. And that is the problem. But you see….I didn’t plan to make him a hero. Note to self–make all secondary male names hero names. This has happened twice for me in my wolf books.

I have over 60 books out and so it makes it a real challenge to keep up with.

Anyway, You Had Me at Jaguar is coming back for a second round of edits any day now, and I received the final proof of A Billionaire Wolf for Christmas, so I’m trying to get through that and turn it in, then get back to the ending on SEAL Wolf Surrender. My plan to just finish SEAL has been thwarted. Next week, I’ll only be getting baby one day a week, so that will give me an extra full day to write. For ONE day. BUT, then I’m helping my daughter with watching baby for several days while she’s busy with her conference, and that does away with my writing goals too….

That means I have to quit goofing off and get all 3 books done, pronto! I need to do the synopsis for the current book too for marketing.

When it gets overwhelming like this, I just tackle the easiest project first–final proofing of Billionaire. I’m hoping to have it done by tomorrow.  This was the neverending story, so it is a really long book. I’m on ch 6 now… I think there are 25 chapters. Maybe more.

Then, I’m going to try and finish SEAL before Jaguar boomerangs back to me.

And that’s the plan. Oh, and take pictures, of course. Got to get my fix in for picture taking! Found two juvenile dragonflies yesterday and my purple magic crepe myrtle is in bloom, and will show off pictures tomorrow!

Have a super, lovely hump day! Mine is grand–full steam ahead–tackle, tackle, tackle….

Dogs and Cats and Squirrels, Oh My!

It’s been raining and raining and raining since yesterday. You can see the wet squirrel and the rain pouring down. The tabby cat is in hunting mode, headed for the bird feeder and checking out the water fountain. The dogs are lined up waiting for me to fix lunch, but they should have guessed I would take pictures of them. Then Luna began poking her nose at Tanner. They’re the two alphas and she didn’t want him there, so she intimidated him until he got up and moved. He loves getting his picture taken. Poor Tanner.

I tried to get low to take a head on shot of the puppies, but that won’t work. As soon as I did, they all came over to greet me. lol

Reached 45,000! Over halfway done! Woohoo!

Doggy Daycare, Dragons, and a Cougar Wannabe…

Okay, so no baby this week. I’ve got corgi power instead. Rilo, the black and tan Welsh Pembroke corgi, was my first grandbaby. 🙂  Luna came after that. So I’ve been their grandmama before my dogs came along and before the first grandbaby–human persuasion, came along. Here they are with my dogs chilling out near where I am at my desk. “What, Max??? Don’t tell me you want to go out! Now! When everyone just got settled down.”

Yep, and so it goes. I take three dogs out at a time. Mine don’t usually hassle the next-door dogs, but the corgis will, so I take them out on leash, one at a time, for the most part. I did “lose” Luna as she darted out the door one time, and Rilo another. But I was lucky. The neighbor’s dogs weren’t out. They all go crazy.

Because I write about fae dragon shifters, I had fun with creating the dragons courting in the one picture. You thought they were fighting, didn’t you? I write HEA so they are HEA. 🙂  And I write about cougar shifters. So I thought it was fun that the Abyssinian cat wishes she could be a cougar when she grows up.

I’m off to write. It’s supposed to be stormy, so I’m hoping it won’t be too much of a hassle taking the dogs out in the rain all day. 🙂

Super Dogs Ready to Save the World

I took the picture of both the castle steps and the dogs, but not on the castle steps. 🙂

Super Dog, Wonder Dog, a Navigator, and a Pirate, they’re gathered at the castle for the big mission.  Drums are beating. Horns are blaring. It’s nearly time. And they’re ready.

I have to tell you my daughter and I had quite a time getting them all to stay put. 🙂 <3 And Sir Rilo, top dog, though he’s a beta, is up on top, which made it perfect. Wonder Dog, the real alpha of all of them, was keeping my two in line. They were only a year old at the time. Max and Tanner had to sit together. And here, they’re wondering about the mission.

And that’s the story. I hope their mission goes well.

No April Fool’s!

My grandbaby was due today, but she came at 1:58 yesterday morning, so not an April Fool’s day baby after all.

 

And their corgis are happy to have an added member of the pack! They’re curious, just like wolves that are excited about the new pups added to the pack.

What with deadlines, turned in Flight, and working on proofing SEAL Wolf Undercover, new release on Tuesday with Between a Wolf and a Hard Place, and trying to keep up with the word count on The Bounty Hunter Gets Her Wolf, and helping out the kids and baby—and being up all night with them yesterday–it’s a juggle!

But all worth it!

It’s beastly hot here. We were going to take a walk to the dog park, but at 6 am, it was like a sauna. Yesterday, it wasn’t as hot, drier, and a stiff breeze made it wonderful.

20160703_092904 (1280x1206)Dachshunds and beagles in the large dog park, and Havanese and Shih Tzu/Poodle in the small dark park.  The other dogs were barking before we even got there. But Max decided to bark like nuts on and off at the other dogs. Tanner was into exploring. Mishka was quiet.

20160703_093143 (720x1280)Max, Tanner, and Mishka all lined up in a row, trying to cool down. Shaded, so it wasn’t bad. The Havanese are Cuban breed of dog, so are supposed to be good for the heat.

20160703_093330 (720x1280)Then Tanner discovered the water, and he was so funny as he was trying to figure it out, and then had the brilliant idea of actually lying down in it to get cool.
