Mushrooms in the Dark

I saw these mushrooms the day before and wanted to get a picture of them because they were so interesting. But I got busy, and I didn’t take them. Then when I took the puppies out in the rain in the dark the next morning, the mushrooms were still standing. I thought how neat they would be to take a picture of them in the dark. So with a camp lantern that doesn’t put off much light, and a flashlight, I proceeded to set out an outside doormat on the wet grass, get low, and take some pictures. I think I needed to pull the flashlight back a bit, but that was it on the mushrooms. They have now all collapsed. We had hard rains all night last night and it wreaked the damage. I looked for any new ones, but didn’t see any.

Mad Hatter Tea Party–Draw a Mad Hatter

I’m still behind on my writing. I had to crash a seaplane so I’ve been doing tons of research on them for the book. Did you know that a lot of places don’t allow seaplanes to land on waterways in their states? That many don’t allow a seaplane to carry external loads, like canoes and kayaks? I’ve watched way too many plane wrecks, trying to get a feel of what it would be like.

Landing gear up? Down? One airplane landed on it’s belly, the pilot trainee forgetting to put the gear down. But he did a great job of getting it back in the air and landing with the gear down the next time. Yes, it did damage to the plane when he landed with the gear up. Seaplanes that have landing gear flip when the landing gear is down. So it’s best to have them up for water landings. 🙂

Rough water, gusty winds can make it difficult to land, but also smooth glassy water because it’s harder for the pilot to judge where the water begins.

See? So I’m behind, but it’s because I have to do so much research. I had one scenario in mind, but it wouldn’t work based on the research. So I had to rewrite all of it, and when I did that, I have some other scenes that I need to change because I did some of the stuff earlier now. *sigh*

Will all of the research be in the book? Nope. But I still need to research to find out if they can do what they do.

I’m also getting Dreaming of the White Wolf Christmas 2nd edits, need to make a few minor changes due next week. AND, I have to write a novella to incorporate in the rerelease of Heart of the Wolf. It will be the 10th anniversary of it’s release next January. Plus, I need to write a letter in the book, all due mid-March. And the book I’m currently writing is due April 1st, when the baby is due.

I also have a writing retreat to go to, first one ever. Have no idea what to expect. I scheduled no writing word count on those days, because it’s a long trip, and I have no idea if I’ll get any writing done at all. But maybe I can catch up???

We were under a tornado warning yesterday morning. But other than thunderstorms, we were fine. Have rain again today, which brings March flowers, right?

Mad Hatter Tea Party–the Treats and Tea

The cakes were all delicious. Everything on the pink cake was edible. The pictures on the cake were rice paper. I ordered the Eat Me cards from Amazon. I had some other kinds with Alice and all on them, but I must have missed getting pictures of those. 🙁 One of Jennifer’s friends, Elizabeth, made the beautiful cake and petite fours. She also made cucumber sandwiches and we had heart-shaped tuna salad sandwiches, fruit and tea.

The silver set was on loan, Jennifer’s friend’s sister, was generous enough to polish it and offer it for the party.

One of the ladies had the beautiful working teakettle on the stove.

There were several other teapots on loan, but I missed getting a picture of them. 🙁

The food was great. I’ll share about the games and decorations later. 🙂 Back to writing!

Word Count…Ready for an UnBirthday Party

Bad news/Good news.

On word count. The bad news is I’m behind. The good news is I scheduled myself off for the weekend because of the party and I was planning to go to a brunch on Sunday. Soooo, I canceled on the brunch, I’m as ready as I’ll ever get for the party, and I have some time before everything kicks off to write this morning and all day Sunday. I need 3400 words to reach my 16,000 word goal.

Full Moon & Solar Garden Light

I still want to take better pictures of the moon, but this was as good as I got last night.I accidentally used a flash on the first picture, but I hadn’t seen the crystal ball glowing, and so when I was out looking for the full moon last night, I saw the glowing solar garden ball, no moon. Not at first.

Without the flash, the glowing ball colors the fence and trees with blue light.

And the puppies were groomed for the party tomorrow, but now it’s pouring rain out and will be through Monday. Which means their fluffed out hair is now in curls again. 🙂 But at least they’re clean and their faces are trimmed.

I also finished up the teddy bear for baby. She’s wearing my daughter’s Mad Hatter hat.

I’m off to work on Flight of the White Wolf! I’m behind on word count, but hope to catch up on Sunday.

Pretty Little House Finches

No Internet this morning, so playing catch up. The puppies are getting groomed today at the groomers for the baby shower on Saturday. I usually groom them myself, but I like to take them in three times a year at least so they can get their nails clipped. I clip them when I can.

And I need to get the fruit platter for the party. In the meantime, I finished the baby’s bear. Pictures tomorrow.

I Got Caught

I have to capture the photos of the birds from inside, though I will try this spring to sit outside and take pictures of them, if they’ll get used to me. Some do.

Even the smaller woodpeckers will. Not this one. He’s super cautious.

Running late on doing anything. Some days just seem to be that way. Don’t they?

I’m still getting ready for the baby shower on Saturday, started working on a bear for the baby, and trying to keep up with word count.

But my cupboards are bare, and the puppies are nearly out of food. Soooooo, I HAVE to go to the grocery store.

And I need to make a list before I go because I will forget the things I really need–meat, potatoes and dog food, and be enticed to the Dark Side: sweets and chips.

Not that if it isn’t on my list I won’t get it anyway…

My beta reader said she didn’t expect the big twist in the story, Loving the White Bear, and that thrills me no end. Plus she’s told me every day how I’ve kept her up at night because she couldn’t put the book down. That’s music to my ears. 🙂 I hope everyone who takes a chance to read it enjoys it too.

Off to write. Need 10,000 today, need groceries, and need to work some more on the bear. It’s cut out, sewn, and now I need to start putting it together. 🙂
