If I Were a Millionaire…

I would hire people to do all my work for me and I could just sit back and…write. Because I’m not…I have to periodically spend some time working on tons of other stuff–like updating my signature line with my latest book covers. I need to do that with my website too. Etc, etc, etc. Did you ever watch “The King and I?” Etc. I loved that line of his…

But really, I love working on all aspects of everything, just need more time. I changed out the cover on Ghostly Liaisons, a teen book I wrote about an area that I lived in Florida.

When I was a kid, I read all kinds of ghost stories, mysteries, true stories, folktales from around the world, and all kinds of other stories. Florida is known as the Sunshine State for a reason, yet we would have violent storms and my dad worked graveyard shift at the space center and we watched scary movies with mother and our toy poodle. We lived across the street from a jungle-like area full of swamps and my sister and I would explore it as adventurers where there were dangers untold–and real ones too–rattlesnakes, water moccasins and alligators. The perfect place to set a teen psychic ghost story.

So I only got 2,000 words, which is my normal word count goal, for Cougar Magic yesterday, baby is due any minute, and that means limited word count for me today. We’re facing some possible rain tomorrow and the next day from Gordon, but it looks like the brunt it hurt further west of us. Hope everyone makes it through the tropical storm, and possible tornadoes that might come out of it.

Wet and Wild

We ended up having a downpour yesterday when the weatherman kept saying it wouldn’t be until later, later, later, and that was supposed to be around 11 pm. This was around 1 pm. They were off by a 1.

We may be getting some more rain tomorrow and the next day from a tropical storm.

In the meantime, just remember if you’re a shifter, don’t do it when I’m out taking pictures. Image may contain: text, nature and outdoor

Have a fun day! I wrote 6,000 words yesterday, hope to get to 45,000 today! Baby will be here tomorrow and that’s the end of writing as we all know it.

Scene for Another Book

We had rain! Yay! 2 inches! Want more! Those are my dogs, and the black and white tuxedo cat looks like like the one I had for 16 years. I’d taken her in from the Kitty Welfare Society in New Jersey, a group of sweet ladies who fostered cats until they could find a home for them. She was the sweetest thing, talked to me, talked back to me, played with me. Loved her dearly.

Okay, so sometimes writing another book will prompt a scene from the book I was stuck on. Naturally. I mean, it has nothing to do with the other book, but I was making hot English Breakfast Tea, and there I had it! The new conflict I needed for Claiming the White Bear. Anyway, it’s the beginning and I jotted down the scene. But I also wrote a couple more pages of Cougar Magic late last night, so I’m staying on track. Though my daily word goal is 2,000, sometimes I set higher goals–like yesterday wanting to reach the halfway mark, then wanting to reach OVER the halfway mark. Now I need to start figuring out how to end the book. I want to get to 40,000 today, so that means writing 3,000.

So I wrote the polar bear scene to get me started on that book, but now, I’m off to type my notes from last night and get cracking. Except, the dogs want out again. Don’t they know how that interrupts my train of of thought? *sigh*

Excerpt from The Winged Fae by Terry Spear:

Bringing her attention back to the store Serena was standing in as she watched out the big picture window, she heard a clerk say to a woman trying on a beach dress near the dressing rooms, “Oh, yes, that looks just lovely on you.”

Serena turned around to see what looked so lovely on the woman and stared at the ugly monstrosity—the dress, not the customer. Although anyone wearing the dress would instantly look nearly as awful—the gauche colors, the hideous billowing sack, the ragged edging on the sleeves and hem of the dress as if the seamstress had forgotten to hem it.

Her faeness coming to the forefront, like a ventriloquist, Serena threw her voice, making it sound close to the clerk as if she was the one speaking again and said, “That is the most hideous-looking dress in the store. The color makes your skin look splotchy and sallow. The style, if it could be said to have any style at all, adds a hundred pounds onto your weight.”

If that didn’t do it, nothing would discourage the woman from buying the dress. Yet, Serena loved the gaping look on the customer’s face, and on the store clerk’s, too, and couldn’t leave well enough alone. Although if she’d been truly in a mischievous mood, she would have encouraged the woman to buy the goddess-awful dress.

“Not only that, but it looks like something you dragged out of a rag bag. The colors clash in such a horrible fashion that they wouldn’t look good on anyone, no matter—”

A hand seized Serena’s shoulder, and she was so startled, she shrieked.

I swear the fae were messing with me today. I had to change yet another darn smoke detector’s battery. There are like 10 in the house! Talk about total overkill, and it really hurts the dogs’ ears. So, first, I’m trying to figure out which one it is. In the direction it was, there are three.

Then I can’t reach it with the 8 foot ladder without lifting a bedside table and moving it. Then I finally could change out the battery, and as I was moving the table back in place, the drawers were falling out and I bumped one of the legs against the wall, very narrow space there, and skinned up the paint on the wall. I know the fae were up to no good. Not saying they moved the wall in closer, but the drawers, helping to push them out, yes. Then I carried the ladder back out to the garage and set it against the wall. Only it didn’t stay there. Now this is definitely where the fae were involved. They pushed the ladder against my car and dented it.

Darn fae.

I’m off to work on Cougar Magic, should be halfway done today, but I’m out to fix the fae once I can.

Supposed to rain, but the percentage keeps dropping. It’s very gray out though, so maybe…

Have a lovely day and hope you don’t have any troubles with the fae like I’m having today. And if someone says something nasty to you or treats you meanly, they might be one of the spiteful fae. Just saying…

Bear Shifter, Anyone?

Of course! I started out with Loving the White Bear, but I also have a confrontation with a grizzly.

I started to have a grizzly in one of my wolf shifter stories, but it seemed like too many characters and I was afraid my editor wouldn’t like it. He was just adorable too. But I went ahead and cut out all the scenes pertaining to him, and every time I re-read it for proofing, I missed him. So he will have to be in his own story too.

For now, I’m back to working on cougar shifters. I reached 30,000 words last night, not sure I’d make it because I had baby all day, had to take her to the doctor and then to the grocery store to get medicine for an ear infection.

This weekend, I hope to make it to the halfway point!
