Fantasy…Reality

A hero being heroic and raindrops falling on a water lily pond.

Even with a made-up world, it has to seem real. It has to have some foundation of reality. It makes it easier for readers to feel connected.

In my YA fae stories, my world is different. If they shift from dragon to fae, they’re dressed. The same with the wolf shifters. They are fae. It’s a fantasy world, but combined with the real world when they visit us and wreak havoc. Believe me, they do it too. To me. All the time.

In my real world (ha!, you know, as far as reality goes), the shifters have to remove their clothes before they can shift. I mean, come on, it’s the real world, right?

And that’s all I’m saying as I go off to play in…hmm, the Woodland Fae….or Cougar Magic. Cougar Magic is the final read-through. Woodland Fae needs its daily word count. I want get my writing done, but I want to get Cougar Magic published. It’s a conundrum.

Have a great day!!! I’m off to play with reality.

Art in Nature and Otherwise…

A “beehive”, a SciFi motorbike kinda, and a snapdragon that produces dragons, and beautiful butterflies. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

Yesterday, I did the edits on Day of the Wolf, and wrote 3,000 words on Woodland Fae. Baby stayed home with her sick parents. And that meant I was trying to get as much as I could done. I might have to take care of her on Monday, which does away with my scheduled writing. I’m off to re-read Day of the Wolf! And I got edits back from another beta reader on Cougar Magic, so going to work on that too.

Hope you are staying healthy and having fun this weekend!! It’s going to be another hot day. 98 heat index in October. ugh.

Art: Whimsy

Sometimes it’s just fun to be whimsical. If you can’t finish a building, be an artist. Have some fun with colorful chairs. I want the purple one to sit on while having a peppermint mocha latte. You? The butterfly at the butterfly garden–beauty in nature. And an alternative to storing the bike in the garage.

Baby is on her way and I hope she’s feeling better! Made 4,000 words yesterday, woohoo! Shooting for a 1,000 today with baby here.

Have a magical day!

Baby was sick yesterday, cold and ear infection, so she did a lot of cuddling and sleeping, which she needed. We rushed through our walk in the fog, trying to keep ahead of the mosquitoes trying to get us.

I managed 1,000 on Woodland Fae while baby was here. I thought I’d have Monday to work on the story, but I may be taking care of baby again if the daycare is shut for the holiday. Both her parents are working.

Okay, off to get some more writing done to make up for Monday, just in case!

Have a great day!!

Fantasy and Reality

I was excited to get 6,000 words yesterday on Woodland Fae yesterday. Baby is here, sick with a cold and an ear infection and was asleep in my arms from the start, so trying to get my blog done and maybe a little writing done before she wakes.

Isn’t that the coolest house? It’s for real. I had to get a shot of it.

Okay, off to work before baby wakes. Have a beautiful day!!!

Making Progress!

The problem with having so many stories I want to write, before I hunker down and really just finish one, is that they plague me in the middle of the night. So I couldn’t sleep, and I kept seeing scenes of vampires (my teen stories), and the fae, and they’re not in the same stories. lol

I did manage to write 5,000 words on Woodland Fae yesterday, walked 6.8 miles, and finished re-reading Day of the Wolf! And I added some to Night of the Vampire.

So I”m off to work on Woodland Fae. About 40,000 words to go! But every day it will get closer to the end.

Have a beautiful day!

The End! Night of the Wolf

The end means I can work on another book, woohoo! I’m always excited to start a new one, BUT, I have to admit, like in a 12-step program, I have tons started!!!!

Here’s is my VERY partial list.

Claiming the White Bear–18,000 words

Woodland Fae–8800 words (I didn’t even know I had started it!)

Bite of the Vampire–(Blood Moon Series, book 2) 8400 words

Night of the Vampire (Blood Moon Series, book 3)–13600 words–do you see a problem here? YES! I have written more of the 3rd book in the series than in the 2nd. Kiss of the Vampire has been out for a long while. I need to finish these two books.)

And that is just a tiny drop in the bucket. When I’m beginning a new book (or continuing a new book as in this case), I’ll re-read a few other stories I’ve started to see if I can get anywhere with them.

After I finished Day of the Wolf, and before I re-read it one last time, I added more to Bite of the Vampire and Night of the Vampire last night. This morning, I’m re-reading Woodland Fae. Claiming the White Bear and Woodland Fae are supposed to be out this year, and Cougar Magic also (which is with a beta reader for now). Maybe I can finish Bite of the Vampire too….

It feels great to finish something, but I often have to stop to do edits on other books, or write other books with deadlines, so then I have to put these books aside. See? I have a good reason. I’m going to have to start writing the next 3 wolf books, for one thing.

Okay, I’m off to read Day of the Wolf and try to catch any mistakes, see if I’ve covered all my bases, and send it off to my beta reader! Then it’s off to one of the other books… It’s like Christmas! Who gets to have me come play with them for a while? And if I really can’t put the book down, it gets finished first.

Have a great one!!!
