“Oil” Painting a Tulip

These are fun to do. They take considerable time, but it’s a nice way to work on something new. And I hope I’ll get good enough to do some really great works later.

Okay, so yesterday I ended up taking little one home with me after I ran to the grocery store and we had several hours of reading and playing and puzzle working and she didn’t want to go home. Her momma and daddy are working from home on certain days, so they’re busy. But Grandma needs to work too. I finally took her home at 3 so I could get my writing done.

I also got an urgent request to write the novella for Dreaming of the Wolf yesterday. It’s going out of print otherwise.

Say what? That’s part of Silver Town. And that’s Jake’s story. So I need to write the novella for the 10th anniversary release. I already did Heart of the Highland’s novella. So the Dreaming of the Wolf novella and Wolff Bros 2 are due October first now, not to mention I need to do a bunch of promo posts for the release in September–Joy to the Wolves.

See? Grandma is working too.

Okay, I’m off to get ready to take little one for a few hours this morning. I told them it’s just 2 days next week unless I can manage a few hours more, but once she leaves, I’m brain dead. Nearly. lol

Feeding the Turtles and Catfish at the Pond

I took little one to the pond to feed the turtles and catfish. We have two other ponds in the development so we’re going to try those too. And that’s a Carolina Anole.

I’m off and running. I have barely any food in the house, and so need to go early before the crowds come. At least everyone is wearing masks. A lady in a Facebook group I belong to just posted she lost her husband to Covid-19 and my son-in-law was playing online with a friend who’s friend lost a brother at 29 to Covid-19.

I saw where a teacher in Arizona lost her life to it, and half the teachers and staff had it after kids returned to school in one part of the country. I don’t know why anyone would think sending kids back to school would be “safe.”

Even if they are just carriers and don’t get that sick from it, teachers and staff and parents and grandparents and the list goes on, are exposed to it. Then take that to the grocery stores and everywhere else they can carry it to. This stuff spreads exponentially.

For when you don’t have time to do anything else: A Quick Page from Oscraps. This one is from Old Masters, and the picture in the frame is one I took of flowers at the pond. The rest was created for me. Easy, quick. lol

I’m still trying to make up my word count for Monday. I’m just editing, which means taking out and adding in, so I usually add some, but only 500 words yesterday with little one here. She’s here again today.

I will be lucky if I get 200 today to make word count for Monday. I will be having dinner with the kids after little one goes home.

I’m requesting professional critiques on my art work, rather than protege–doing this for myself and friends, just in case I want to do some for a picture book or something and I want to really learn how to do this right.

I bought some turtle food to feed the turtles and frogs in our ponds. If little one and I can go first thing in the morning to beat the heat, we’re going to go talk to the turtles. The food consists of floating sticks so maybe I can take some pictures while she’s feeding them. I’ll have to teach her only to throw a couple in and wait for the turtles to get them or she’ll probably dump handfuls in and it will all be gone. We’re taking a little bag of them with us to do that and leaving the rest home.

They should be here any minute, so off to try and get to work on art or the book. Last night I couldn’t sleep. I kept thinking about the book. Which is good, but only if I didn’t have a long day ahead of me with little one. lol

But maybe when I have a chance to write, I’ll be able to write some more scenes and move forward with the book.

Painted Tulip

Trying to get one or two of these done a day. I missed weeks of painting class, while working on deadline books. So I’m trying to keep up with both.

Little one is here today and we’re having cheesy eggs and hash browns. Yum.

Okay, I’ve been running all morning, so now, it’s time for more running!

Glitches

Yesterday, I wrote my whole blog and then there was some kind of glitch and I couldn’t post it. I’d hurt my back after pulling weeds and grass and spent flowers all morning in the light rain on Saturday, it was cool out, yay!–5 40-gal bags worth and so I gave up on the blog on Sunday when it froze up.

Today, thankfully, my back is much better. My daughter gave me tomato plants to plant and I want to get those out in the ground. I could barely walk still yesterday, did some yard work and it seems to help to continue to stretch the muscles. When I sat for too long writing, it was worse getting up again. So today, I managed to walk around the neighborhood and get my mail and get the rest of the garbage out.

I’m going to try and get the tomato plants out this morning because it’s going to be beastly again. We had a brief thunderstorm last night, and that helps to cool things off. I need to run out and take a picture of my mushrooms! lol
