Some More Christmas Whimsy

This is a shifter who doesn’t want to shift. Kind of like my grandkids who come over in their PJs because they don’t want to dress. lol Which is fine with me. By the time we go out to do stuff, they’re ready.

Created this fun video yesterday. Little one will be coming over and then his big sister will have cookie sale training at Girl Scouts tonight, so daddy and little one and their dogs will all be here while escaping their house. lol

Still working on Stolen Highland Dreams and nearing the finish line. Set up the preorder, but it’s not showing yet. Working on the cover.

My brainstorming partner, Lor, came up with the title for the next white bear book: Protecting the White Bear, and I started to plot the idea for it. Then I’m awake at 3 am, thinking about the Highlanders and the polar bears. lol

I’m off to get ready, need to feed the dogs, the birds, and then MAYBE get some more work in before he arrives.

Wolf shifters have been around for centuries, even in Scottish lore, so the Highland Wolves of Old is my version!

I’m finishing up Stolen Highland Dreams, which will be a Medieval Highland follow-up to the Highlander series. It has paranormal elements, as many of the Highlander books in the series do, but there are no wolf shifters.

And then my next project is a polar bear book in the White Bear series.

I’m off to work on Stolen Highland Dreams some more! It’s done from start to finish, just editing now.

Elf on the Shelf and Friends

My granddaughter wanted an elf on the shelf because friends of hers had them and one left cookies for her friend. lol

Anyway, we don’t do it, but it was fun creating the picture.

Little one should be here any second, so off I go.

Salvia for Christmas

I struggled to keep this new salvia plant alive this summer. And now it’s doing better than any of the others. One pink one did really well and then bit the dust. A fuschia one has held steady throughout the months. Here we are in December, and lots of flowering plants that struggled are coming back to life.

I moved the impatients around so many times because they were getting too much sun. They were in tiny containers and look at them now!

And because of a little rain, we’re getting fall colors.

We rarely get fall colors. Usually it just goes from green to brown to bare. So this is a real treat, fall and flowers!

Polar Bear Anyone?

After I finish Stolen Highland Dreams, it looks like another polar bear novel is on the horizon. I have one triplet brother who works in the tavern, so maybe his story, or the one who is in law enforcement. I will have to put on my thinking cap. My good friend Lor and I have twin brains, we say, because she thinks so much like me. So I’ll see if she has any ideas also. I have one possibility already.

But first, I must finish writing Stolen Highland Dreams. I’m getting close. I have minimum word count. I just need to finish writing the story. Yay!

We’re supposed to go from 50-60 degrees Fahrenheit for a high to 76-80 degrees Fahrenheit for the next few days. That’s why I have short-sleeved holiday shirts!

Tuxedo Kitten Christmas

So one of my friends asked me where the Christmas Tuxedo cats were??? I created this one this morning for her. I had one for years until she passed away at the age of 16. She was a kitten rescue, and the Cat Welfare Society, made up of senior citizens in New Jersey, was trying to find her and her twin brother a home after they were found scavenging at a dumpster.

I was living in an apartment, working on my master’s degree, in the army, constantly away, and she was the perfect little companion, more like a dog than a cat. She would climb into my then paper sacks and I would go to lift them, and instead of being empty, they would be heavy. She had snuck inside.

She loved to slip under my covers and I’d see an unnatural lump in my bed. I would play mouse with her, and she’d try to catch it while my hand was moving on top and she was trying to get it from under the covers.

She would slide her paw under the bathroom door to get my attention. It always made me laugh.

When I finally had a home and a Lab, she knocked off Christmas balls and batted them across the floor until they hit the wall and broke. I thought my puppy had done it, but then I caught Trixie at it, who truly was full of tricks.

She never climbed on kitchen counters or tables, just on windowsills and on my bookshelves. She loved to ride at the back of my neck when I drove across the country on moves. She hated a cat box, so she rode where she could look out the window most of the time, sometimes on the top of the backseat.

My mother was with me on one of those moves. In the spooky motel where wild things were going on–we even put a chair against the door–the cat jumped on top of my mother, who let out a blood-curdling scream. I thought the wild things were breaking into the motel room! My mother was much scarier than the cat. LOL, I was used to Trixie doing that, and she’d settle down on top of me.

Lots of fun memories.

I’m off to write, getting nearer to the end of Stolen Highland Dreams.

More Christmas Whimsy

In this composite, I had a basic background with a Christmas tree and packages. The packages were beige with an off-red color, more of a burgundy. There wasn’t any window, sleigh, or wreath. The playful kittens soon joined the scene and I mixer brushed the edges of their fur. When I placed the window, it was just smeary, no scene. It was part of another composite. I trimmed it to show just the window. I added the deer, trees, and snow to the outdoor scene, as well as Christmas lights on the outdoor trees. Changed the color of all the presents. I added lights to the wreath and the tree. Created shadows and vignetting to give the composite more depth, changed the color of the room, and slipped in another Christmas tree so the cat could have her paw on top of it. Also changed the color of the small tree so that it fits better with the scene.

In other words, I should have been writing on Stolen Highland Dreams. lol But I love creating composites.

I’m off to work!

Some Polar Bear Fun

It feels like 33 and for us, that is polar bear weather!!!

Little one will be here shortly. I’m off to get ready. I took the dogs out super early this morning in the dark and I think they were chasing a rat or several. I can’t imagine squirrels foraging in the dark.

A Delightful Daschund

A little winter whimsy. Doesn’t the puppy look like he could use a hug?

I’ve been working on Wolf Pack to turn it into a novel from a novella. It’s completely rewritten and three and a half times longer. I hope to have it available soon.

Little one is here! He’s having second breakfast.
