What’s more perfect than seeing a field of bluebonnets? Finding a Highland cow and her calf among them. Now I really wish I could take a picture like that!

A Little Monday Morning Whimsy

A little whimsy to start the day.

I managed to get 2,000 words on Protecting the White Bear yesterday AND I’m up to chapter 8 on 2nd edits on What a Wolf Wants, so it was a successful day.

I have little one and it’s supposed to be about 60 so we’ll walk to get big sister from school.

He’s playing educational games on his tablet, so I’m off to read more of What a Wolf Wants and might actually get something done!

More Christmas Fun

It seems only right that if I’m writing about Highlanders, I should make a Highland Christmas picture. Doesn’t she look like she wants a hug? Hmmm

Next time I visit Scotland, I want to visit a Highland farm where they raise Highland cows (coos).

It’s 37 here this morning, and it truly feels like what it looks like in the picture. Cold. lol Loving it. Our high will be 58 so it will warm up.

Fuzzy Highland Cow

I combined two photos of Scotland that I had taken while over there to create this. I love Scotland!

I’m off to work on Huntress Unleashed. 12,000 more words to write! Getting to the end! Yet, not really. Even though I edit all along, I will need to really edit once the book is fully written from beginning to end. That’s the fun stuff. 🙂 Because the book is written. Then I just have to make it better.

Step into pastoral Scotland, or anywhere idyllic like that and have a beautiful day!

Switching Things Up

I just finished Dreaming of the Highland Wolf, which is all about Highland wolves in a contemporary setting. See, you knew that wolves no longer live in Scotland, but truly, they do! Only in shifter form. So if you’re lucky, or not, depending on how you look at it, you might see one there, but it won’t exactly be a wolf.

Now I’m off to the world of vampires. It helps me to keep fresh with stories if I change things up. Of course there’s the problem of having to reread stories in the series to pick up other characters to give them their time too, and to make sure I have my world straight, though with the wolf one I’ve written so many in the series, it’s memorized…so it takes a little bit of previous story reading for other series.

But I’m having a ball and I should be at 8,000 words today.

Her Wolf for the Holidays

Okay, so no, that is not the Highland wolf, but that is the title of the Christmas Highland wolf story coming out next year, October, I think.

Anywho, the Highland cow represents the ones in the story. Isn’t he ADORABLE?

I just love them.

All right, it’s TGIF, and I’m off to hopefully finish up proofing of Big Cat Magic and turn it over to my final beta reader.

Last day to pick up little one from big kid’s school this week. She asked me when she was going to stay at my house for the day–even though she was here all day Monday and Tuesday. She has been staying here for two days of the week for 5 years, so it’s hard for her to understand we have a whole new schedule now. But I told her I’d take her swimming on Sunday, and when it was good for everyone, she could stay overnight with me. We do that at least once a month.

Now I’ve got to get to work.

When the Unexpected Happens

I was happily photographing flowers and playing around with an idea I had seen with a teacup and book, so created my Highland theme, when Tabby returned. He/she jumped into my lap, rubbed up against me, and claimed me as his own.

Then he proceeded to hunt squirrels (fence picture), and taunt my dogs who were sitting at the window barking, before birds overhead distracted him.

Okay, off to write. I’m coming down to the wire on deadline and the end of the story, 18K left to go, and I need to figure out how to wrap it up!! So I can get started on the next book.

Grandbaby will be one at the end of the month, so trying to figure out a theme for pictures. Her mom is big into Alice in Wonderland, so I’m thinking of doing something like that.

Oh, and because of the looming deadline of April 2nd, I keep forgetting TOMORROW is a new book release!!! You know, I wrote it last year, so it seems to me that it should already have been out a year ago. And since then, I’ve written 3 more books. 🙂

The Magic of Scotland

The heather and fern were below one of the castles in Scotland. Love the Highland cows.

NaNoWriMo ends today. But in my mind, I “see” this as saying Write More. I’m at 65,000 words on My Highlander and need to finish up the story. I ended up having to babysit last night, so I didn’t write as much as I planned to.

But playing with some of the photos I took in Scotland helps immerse me in the world. I had to run errands today before baby is here again tomorrow and guess what I forgot to do. Post my blog. lol

Scotland the Beautiful!

I could be inspired to write all day long there!  The picture of the view is from Glengarry Castle, the new one. The bottom one is of the ruins.

Instead, I’m at home getting totally distracted by a swarm of woodpeckers! And that’s why I have been seeing a red-bellied woodpecker feeding CONSTANTLY at the feeders. There are 3 of them!

Momma and 2 juveniles, I think. Maybe daddy? Not sure. And then a redheaded woodpecker showed up! And so, besides working on Vexing’s cover until midnight, and the story until 1 am, I am late on everything else. The woodpeckers made me it.

The juvenile red-bellied woodpeckers at the bottom were playing around the tree.

And there you have it! Nope, the dog didn’t eat my homework. The woodpeckers did!

Pictures of Scotland. Yep, that will work. 🙂 The first is a Highland pop-up card of a Highland cow. The next is the bridge to Eilean Donan, the next 4 birds on a branch with a loch in the background on the walking path to another castle. 🙂 <3 Fog over the Eilean Donan and a breeze-less day.
