What You Want to Avoid at Sea

Reflection of a jellyfish

Getting a slow start this morning. I’ve been pulling weeds and such. I wrote 4,000 words yesterday! Yay! I am 41% done with word count! I can’t believe it! That’s encouragement and it means I’m nearly halfway there.

Have a great day and watch out for stinging jellyfish along the way.

Reflections in the Pond

On baby’s and my walk, I captured some pictures of our hot, muggy, Texas fall. And I realized there was a turtle near us. It was so muggy my lens kept fogging up (100% humidity) and then he hurried to get in the water and hide from us so the picture isn’t as clear as I’d hoped it to be. They are really shy around humans still. And I was able to show baby tons of very hungry caterpillars on the milkweed leaves, a carolina anole, the cocoon for the monarch butterfly, butterflies, honeybees, and bumblebees. So we had a science day.

Some days it’s impossible to get word count. Yesterday, it was just not possible. I was trying to finish edits when I could while baby was here. I managed 11 chapters, and still have 7 more to read through today. So I should get it done today, then back to word count on another story. I want to be able to turn in SEAL Wolf Surrender today.

We had stormy weather last night, lightning constantly. It poured, but things don’t look that wet out, too dark to really see. Our low is 65, our high 69. So much better than the heat index of 94 yesterday.

Okay, I’m off to finish SEAL…. hope you have a wondrous day!

Sights in San Diego

Some fun sightings in San Diego–gnarled trees along the waterfront, a go-cart driving down the street, and the reflection of the sunset and the marina in the glass of the hotel.

These were taken a couple of years ago, and I haven’t ever shared.

Hope you have a fun day!

Don’t Get in the Water!

Sometimes you can catch really interesting shots and they’re not composites at all, but real life.

This is an American Alligator and his reflection is topside!

And the biting part….

Off to take care of baby… Have edits on All’s Fair in Love and Wolf too…. *sigh*

It’s Time to Finish This Now!

Do you ever find yourself taking all kinds of pictures and never really having the time to stop and look at them? Do anything with them? Do you ever open the file and take a closer look and see the beauty you couldn’t before?

Elephant eating, turtle reflecting, snake watching, lemurs hiding.

Do you ever find yourself writing all kinds of stories and never really finishing them? They have great beginnings, and maybe great middles, but you never…finish them?

Do you ever start on a project and never quite finish it?

Sometimes it doesn’t take all that much time to stop, look over whatever you’ve been working on, and do something with it. Something fun and creative and ultimately fulfilling because you finished it.

On the other hand, maybe what you thought was okay, really isn’t, and it’s time to just get rid of it. I caution not to, though. It’s amazing what new insight, even years later, can help you to make a project shine.

I’m 20,000+ over word count and still writing the now Neverending  Story!

Have a lovely day! Babysitting day for me….

I Said No!

I agreed to give an author a quote who asked me a while back, despite all the deadlines I’m still on. But I look forward to reading her book at the end of the month. It sounds like a lot of fun.

But I said No! to a boxset that an author approached me on because I just can’t keep saying yes. To everything. 🙂  Plus, it’s really important if I’m going to do it, if it’s the same genre. I don’t think any of them write paranormal. Some readers love to read everything. Raising hand here. But some have specific genres they love. So it’s better to be in a specific genre.

I was in one once where we had a futuristic story, and some paranormal readers felt gypped. There were 21 stories in the boxset for only 99 cents! Just one was futuristic. lol

Is that me, or is someone else looking back at me?–Male cardinal pondering his shadow.

I didn’t meet my word count goal yesterday. 🙁 I had lunch with the author who needs a quote and had to pick up more goody bags and stuff for the reader’s convention, then got home and did 1200 words, but needed 2,000. *sigh*

Still puppy sitting, so it’s been trips outside a million times, and hard to concentrate. Just as I get in the zone, I have to stop for more puppy stuff.

Off to the novella! Only 5800 words to go! Must wrap this puppy up!

Have a wonderful day!!!

Hot, Hot, Hot–So Think of Something Cool

pop up Highland cow (640x463)close up under the bridge (640x427)4 birds on branch (640x427)

fog behind Eilean Donan Castle (640x427)

Pictures of Scotland. Yep, that will work. 🙂 The first is a Highland pop-up card of a Highland cow. The next is the bridge to Eilean Donan, the next 4 birds on a branch with a loch in the background on the walking path to another castle. 🙂 <3 Fog over the Eilean Donan and a breeze-less day.

Okay, back to the story!

If you don’t have Billionaire in Wolf’s Clothing, be sure and get it. It will make you feel healthy, wealthy, and wise. 🙂 With a lot of imagination.

The Reflection of a Castle in a Well

well and flowers (640x480) (2)

I love purple flowers and these were more showy, but you couldn’t see the detail of the crenelated parapet which showcases the medieval design on the battlements better in the second picture I took with the tiny orange flowers bowing down over the well. They are actually to the right of the purple flowers above.

This was at Dunnottar Castle in Scotland, one of my favorite of the seven castles we visited.

Okay, back to writing! 18,000 done! 7,000 to go!

Have a super Sunday!

Painting between Storms!

Please vote and have a chance to win too, if you haven’t already.

As of last night when I pre-posted this, The Dark Fae was in the lead, which is incredible! Considering where she began. She might not be there by the end of the contest, and I was ready for it to end when I was ahead, but isn’t that always the way???

So if you haven’t had a chance and want to, she’d still love the votes! Because between now and May 31 when it ends, anything could happen. You know how it is, you’re way behind in a game, and all of a sudden you think you’re going to win and somebody else out of the blue does??? If you’re the person out of the blue, that’s a good thing.

I thought I had taken a picture of the wrought iron I had painted too, but apparently not. So here is the before, and the clouds that prevented me from doing much else, then went out again later. I’ll have to take another picture of the wrought iron I did paint for the after picture. But I’m afraid the ALL after will take a long time. I have to do it between violent winds and rainstorms. 🙂 Then it will get too hot and… aren’t I good at making excuses? But I am using about 3 cans a day, so I am getting somewhere with it. I realized I have miniscule black freckles today. So much for the wind going in the right direction.

I love the wrought iron. It makes me feel as though I’m truly within my castle walls. 🙂

There’s something cool about holes in clouds. 🙂

It should be illegal to have electric wires above ground. You know, because of the fact that the best shots are always right where the darn electric wires are.

And that’s my stormy day.

Off to write. For the first time, I was able to get my 3,000 word count yesterday, AND a little ahead. Not much, but writing a little ahead, makes me…a little ahead. 🙂

Have a terrific Thursday!!!

Have a great day!

And thanks again to everyone who voted. It’s amazing to me that I moved up to the top. It doesn’t usually happen. I usually make a little headway and fall right back down. So thank you, thank you to all who voted!
