The Reflection of a Castle in a Well

well and flowers (640x480) (2)

I love purple flowers and these were more showy, but you couldn’t see the detail of the crenelated parapet which showcases the medieval design on the battlements better in the second picture I took with the tiny orange flowers bowing down over the well. They are actually to the right of the purple flowers above.

Orange Flowers at the Castle Well

This was at Dunnottar Castle in Scotland, one of my favorite of the seven castles we visited.

Okay, back to writing! 18,000 done! 7,000 to go!

Have a super Sunday!

Painting between Storms!

Please vote and have a chance to win too, if you haven’t already.

As of last night when I pre-posted this, The Dark Fae was in the lead, which is incredible! Considering where she began. She might not be there by the end of the contest, and I was ready for it to end when I was ahead, but isn’t that always the way???

So if you haven’t had a chance and want to, she’d still love the votes! Because between now and May 31 when it ends, anything could happen. You know how it is, you’re way behind in a game, and all of a sudden you think you’re going to win and somebody else out of the blue does??? If you’re the person out of the blue, that’s a good thing.

I thought I had taken a picture of the wrought iron I had painted too, but apparently not. So here is the before, and the clouds that prevented me from doing much else, then went out again later. I’ll have to take another picture of the wrought iron I did paint for the after picture. But I’m afraid the ALL after will take a long time. I have to do it between violent winds and rainstorms. 🙂 Then it will get too hot and… aren’t I good at making excuses? But I am using about 3 cans a day, so I am getting somewhere with it. I realized I have miniscule black freckles today. So much for the wind going in the right direction.

I love the wrought iron. It makes me feel as though I’m truly within my castle walls. 🙂

The unpainted wrought iron, part of my castle defenses. Note, the wheat from last year’s crop and then the corn.

There’s something cool about holes in clouds. 🙂

It should be illegal to have electric wires above ground. You know, because of the fact that the best shots are always right where the darn electric wires are.

And that’s my stormy day.

Off to write. For the first time, I was able to get my 3,000 word count yesterday, AND a little ahead. Not much, but writing a little ahead, makes me…a little ahead. 🙂

Have a terrific Thursday!!!

Have a great day!

And thanks again to everyone who voted. It’s amazing to me that I moved up to the top. It doesn’t usually happen. I usually make a little headway and fall right back down. So thank you, thank you to all who voted!

Reflection

reflection of rock in creek (640x427)

Can you see the reflection? I love seeing reflections of life, catching our world upside down, duplicating, copying, but in a different way.

Do you see where the world ends and the reflection begins?

It’s there, visible, and yet is nearly invisible.

When we saw it, it appeared as though the reflection was not a reflection. Not a mirror of the world at all.

Reflection is the stuff of fantasy.

Is Your World Upside Down?

female cardinal 008 (640x427)

It was a gorgeous day outside and so I sat out on the patio and wrote some, hoping to catch a picture of the birds, but the only one that came close was the female cardinal, usually the most skittish of birds and she sat in a shrub right next to me, but the pictures still didn’t turn out. A big bird, not Big Bird, but some big bird, I figured was a predatory kind, landed in the leafless maple tree. I saw its white breast feathers, that it was big, and then it moved somewhere too high that I couldn’t see it through the trellis, though he continued to yell at me. I was dying to get a shot of it, to see what it was.

The cardinal was on the shrub next to me, watching him, and watching me. She was in between us. But I think she was more worried about the big bird. It was probably a hawk. I see them a lot, but I hadn’t see one in the tree before, just on our electric wires sometimes. Usually they’re quiet. Unless they’re flying around. So I’m still curious.

Here’s the picture that did not turn out of the cardinal. 🙁

The top picture is of my upside down world. While I was waiting for a bird to come around so I could take a picture, which of course they wouldn’t, I looked around to see what else I could get a shot of that looked interesting. A reflection of the bird feeders and side of the barn in a puddle of water. It’s like looking into another dimension. Too cool for words, right?

And I’m back to writing on Cougar’s Mate.  I’m at 48,000 and that means only 32,000 to go! See how easy that was? 🙂
