Hungry, Frisky Little Ladybugs

I’ve been having fun taking pictures of the ladybugs in the garden. I have tons of them. Usually I might find one or none a year. So this is a surprise. I still have the same number of aphids whether the ladybugs are in the garden or not, so I’m glad to see the ladybugs.

I was reworking my first simple painting this morning to resubmit for review. We can only submit a painting, then wait for review, then submit a rework or the new one if we passed–once a day. But they’re good about reviewing them daily. I’m behind on the art course from working on the books, so I’m trying to do one a day, reworks, etc, and have the next one ready as soon as one gets approved. And still work on the books. 5,000 words left on this one.

Little one and I fed the birds, the dogs, and did a puzzle and some workbooks, and collected leaves on the way home from our walk, so did some leaf tracing, not sure what it’s called, to show the form and veins, and I was teaching her about the different kinds of leaves. I showed her all the ladybugs too.

Then we worked with coins–teaching her about the penny, nickle, dime, and quarter. I was teaching her about the value, but she was having difficulty figuring out which were which, so I concentrated on having her tell me what they were and which pile of coins they belonged to. This is the first time we’ve done it and she was having a ball. It’s fun when teaching is fun.

We’ll keep doing that every time I have her. I was teaching her to count by 10s with dimes, 5s with nickles, etc.

Anyway, today is writing day!!! It’s going to be beastly again. sigh.

Have a super wonderful day!

If You Like Lora Leigh’s Books…

Oversized Ladybug in the Garden
Another Huge Ladybug

I found these on the milkweed plants, but one on one plant and then later, I found the other. Now, naturally, since all ladybugs look alike and both of these were oversized, I thought it was the same one. But looking at their patterns after I took the pictures, you can clearly see they’re different ones.

I’m glad to see them in the garden, and also the dragonflies are coming, and milkweed assassin bugs. The latter, you have to be careful about. They bite. I try to watch for them and leave them alone. They eat whiteflies, aphids, which are starting to appear, and even tomato caterpillars. Does it mean they’ll attack monarch butterfly caterpillars? Maybe. 🙁

Pretty cool, huh? Okay, I’m off to write. I edited and wrote 3675 words. I’m only 4400 words from word count, though I’ll probably write a lot more, and I’m still on a deadline crunch.

Have a great day!!!!

Not Fair!

Storytellers can’t cheat! That’s the reader rule. If a bad guy is a bad guy, he can’t be someone new that’s stuck in at the end of the story. It’s not fair. Readers have to have the opportunity to guess who he is.

Okay, so I watched a series where the bad guy turns out to be a woman, figured that from her size, BUT this is the kicker. She has multiple personality disorder and her other personality is her son. Okay, no problem. This isn’t revealed until the end, but that’s okay. I can live with it. BUT, others see him and talk to him as a separate entity. While she’s in the room. They even question him at one point while she’s standing off to the side. And then she moves in to take his place on a chair to be questioned. The whole time, they are two unique people that everyone sees. Now, later in the series, people “see” her with him, but then the show indicates that she was alone. That doesn’t discount that earlier in the series, they were all talking to him and she was in the room too, not that close by.

He’s a real, separate person. Then conveniently at the end, he’s not. Just in her mind. What?????

That is soooo wrong in so many ways. It’s like the storyteller decided to do a huge twist, but it only works if it’s consistent from the beginning.

Ladybugs in my garden…

Okay, off to write on my own story. I bought another book cover. I’m a total book cover hoarder. *sigh*

Have a great day!!!

Ladybug, Ladybug, Where Are Your Spots?

brown large bear army ribbon ladybug on pepper plant 005 (640x567)1

She is eating aphids on my sweet pepper plant. Good little ladybug. Love seeing them in the garden. Just like I love seeing dragonflies and praying mantis. They are good bugs eating bad bugs.

Ladybug, Ladybug (640x427) reflectionI took this picture while walking in the woods at the arboretum in Waco.

Easter bunny and lady bug bear (595x640)Do you see the ladybug on her sweater? It is a sure sign of spring. I thought I had another picture of a ladybug. But I couldn’t find another. I guess that’s my mission, see a ladybug, take a picture!

Have a great day!!
