Just for Fun

Okay, so I have NEVER painted a flat coloring page on Photoshop and tried to create a 3-D character. We’re supposed to use only one brush in the course, so that limits things, no textures on the dinosaurs, so everything has to be done with the one brush by hand. It’s a contest, but we have some real talented artists in the course and it will be no contest, really. I’m totally new at this and doing it as an effort in learning how to add shadow and color to create more of a 3-D character.

So for me, it’s just a chance to begin to create something that is more realistic. I have a long way to go and just started on the flying dinosaur in the background with one layer of paint. I took the original background picture at Disney World and painted all of it. The dinosaur still needs a ton of work, hope to add more feathers on his legs, but you should have seen it when I first began it! I guess he looked as flat as the pterodactyl in the background. I tried to simulate feathers and make him more colorful because they’re now saying that a lot of the dinosaurs were feathered and more colorful than we envisioned.

We’ll be finding out whether my daughter’s baby will be a girl or boy today, and I have little one to take care of. My granddaughter says it will be a girl.

What if it’s a boy?

It’s not going to be a boy.

Wouldn’t you like a little brother?

No.

Why not?

They’re weird. Little girls are cute.

She is three and a half and has been going to a daycare where all the kids her age are boys. So it’s not like she doesn’t have some experience with boys. lol

I got my word count in yesterday on Cougar, 6,000 words to go, but I started also working on edits on Dreaming of the Wolf’s 10th Anniversary Release. It’s hard to get anything done on days I have little one, so they’re non-writing days. I’m hoping to at least get through 5 chapters on Dreaming today and 5 tomorrow when I have her and maybe finish up on Friday.

Have a great day!! I’m excited about Thanksgiving next week.

Grapes in a Sack

Painting in Photoshop

I’m still working on Wolff Bros 2, and I’m still touching up this painting for when I need to turn in 3 paintings we’ve done for review, in addition to 2 that we’ve had critiqued as part of the course before I can move on to people. Ack!

It might look easy and it’s anything but. But I still love doing it, though sometimes while I’m working on it, I think, what made me think I could do this?????

Okay, little one is on her way and I’m still working on my story.

Have a great day!!

In a Rush This Morning

So this morning, I was getting the garbage out, killing fire ants getting into my house with boiling water, and then here comes little one, early. lol So I switched gears and had to find something for her to eat since her daddy didn’t feed her. She’s having a granola bar and I fixed eggs for her because, even though she didn’t want any, as soon as I fix myself one, she wants two. I top them with shredded cheese and mine had mushrooms. Add some orange tomatoes and it’s great!

Then she wants a towel. Her hands are a mess. She knows how to use a fork, but she wasn’t. While I’m wiping off her hands, I said, “Do you know how little hands get messy like this?”

She looks up at me, waiting to hear how.

“When you don’t use your fork to eat your food. Humans use forks.”

She laughs. I don’t think she has the concept of humans down pat yet. There are wolf shifters and there are humans. That should be known from birth.

Okay, I’m back to getting stuff done. I had been getting edits done and I did do several lessons on the oil painting last night. I have to say I’m lousy at it. But, I am still trying to figure out the Wacom. I swear I tell my hand to curve the strokes one way and it goes straight, curve another way and it goes in the opposite direction.

I know that practice makes perfect, so I did all the original samples we were supposed to do again before going on to the next lesson. Then I started the new lessons. I love the background one. At least for yesterday’s, I did really good on it. And when I can do that, it encourages me to practice more backgrounds and I’ll get better. I have 3 more practice ones to go.

I’m going to try and set up a “preschool” of sorts for little one since she’s three and the kids will be doing virtual school at home for a few weeks. I just need to get more organized and do it in more of consistent manner. I homeschooled both my kids, so it’s fun.

Have a great and safe day! We’re off to get ready for some fun!

Out Weeding

It always gets away from me. I think sometimes that maybe it would be best to just have…grass.

But taking pictures of tons of grass would be downright…boring.

Okay, little one will be here any second. I was out weeding like crazy and cutting back some rosebush branches that were dead.

And I was using the Wacom to paint a tulip, first lesson. I am so bad with the Wacom, it’s like being a toddler and learning how to draw with a crayon. So trying to learn a painting skill with it on top of that makes it doubly bad. I was doing better on a bottle, lemon, and pear with the mouse. I did them with the pen also. But I’m sure as I get more used to it–practice does make things better!–I will get better at it.

The pen doesn’t want to curve when I want to curve. It wants to squiggle.

This is the first lesson in painting color onto blown-out highlights in Beyond the Brushes. We haven’t gotten the training in edges yet. I have 3 other practice pictures to work on after this. But I’m also going to pull up the first 3 pictures of the bottle, lemon, and pear and redo them to get more practice in. My Wacom wouldn’t work yesterday so I gave up on it and just worked on Red Wolf. I had worked on that all day, but was taking a break from that to paint the picture.

They show people doing beautiful pictures with people and pets. The fur critters is what I want to do.

Went to the grocery store yesterday, and was glad to see that most people were distancing and wearing masks. This woman came up to me and said, “Ma’am. Ma’am.” And I looked up from peering at the meats to see my daughter in a mask. lol We’d had the same idea.

Gotta run! Have a fun and safe day.
