Deadline Nightmare

Peacock in Hawaii

I was keeping up with my word goal, and then–book edits happened. They want two more promo blogs too. But You Had Me at Wolf edits came and those are easy, but it’s a long book and I’m through 90 of 250 pages. They were late on sending it to me, so it means they need me to finish it pronto. And first edits came on another book, and that one they want to move the release date to May, so they asked if I could get them done quickly too.

In the meantime, I decided to transfer 13 of my audiobooks from ACX to Findaway Voices because they didn’t have exclusive rights to them. When I first signed with them, I thought there were other audiobook outlets, but there weren’t. So I was getting barely any percentage of income off them from ACX and no way to share them otherwise. It’s rotten on the audiobooks because we pay so much for narration, not the seller, so we have a lot of money tied up in them. Findaway has wider distribution, but I don’t know how well it will do either. Some authors say they do much better.

Anyway, ACX finally transferred the titles and I had to redo 13 of the audiobook covers and upload all the metadata, so did that in the last two days, got 1,000 words word count on the new book the one day, and managed 90 pages of the one book I’m editing. So no new blog. I want to get back to the other book before I forget where I’m at. *sigh*

And, I asked for my rights back from a small print publisher I’ve been with for years and years and years. They have the first 2 of my Highland books and a western time travel. Without the 1st 2 Highland books, I can’t reduce the sale price to have like a BookBub ad for the first in the series. But it means editing the books, formatting them for ebooks and print books and making new covers for both. They’re coming back to me around the 14th.

That’s why I haven’t been blogging. Just too much to keep up with. And the heat is awful. I’ll be glad when it starts dropping to around 94 degrees as the high, which is still a heat index of 104. Tuesday it will be 111. Today and tomorrow, 109. So 104 will seem cooler.

Okay, I’m off to read!!! I hope to have the edits done for one of the books today. Have a wonderful weekend!

Stop Being Such a Peacock

Isn’t he just beautiful? I often can’t get a good shot of one. So this time I figured why go for the beautiful feathers? (Which are the green in the lower left of the photo. Go for a nice head shot, uhm, long neck shot. Yep. Beautiful.

Sometimes if one thing doesn’t work, trying something else does.

Have a beautiful day! And if you want to be a peacock, go for it!

Wedding was a Success!

Alpha peacock strutting his stuff.

I signed books at Barnes and Noble in Honolulu. Still working on edits on Wolff Brothers. Been busy most of the time in Honolulu, so only halfway done. I’m hoping to finish it up on Monday, and maybe the novella by Tuesday. But jetlag is an issue.

Left paradise and returned home, but the heat and humidity still feels the same so I can imagine being in paradise still, if I close my eyes.

Have a great day!!

The Snow was Where???

I’m writing a teasing post about all my Northern friends who have been plagued with snow and flurries and the like and will probably get more before the spring is through. But I saw so many trees and flowers in bloom, I said I’d post about that and show what it’s REALLY doing up north. lol

Then I couldn’t download my pictures from my camera to my Surface. *sigh*

I’m home now, but my camera’s on switch was turned on while it was being jostled in my bag, and so charging up my camera now. Unpack, washing towels from the disaster before I left, and repacking. 🙂 <3

Daffodils at the zoo in Milwaukee

We went to the zoo in Milwaukee, but didn’t get to see the wolves. I asked someone who works there and she said they’re sixteen years old. They were out in the morning, but sleep most of the day.

But they had peacocks all over. They are truly beautiful.

And Jaguar Pride cupcakes at Barbara Vey’s Reader’s Luncheon. Lots of fun!!

What a cupcake, eh?

What a cupcake, eh?

Okay, trying to get unpacked and do a million chores, more pictures to come!

We had a blast!

Have a super great Sunday!

Peacock Hen and Babies

She might not be as beautiful as the male of her species with their gorgeous tail feathers, but she’s beautiful in her own way–as a mother to her chicks. They are trying to keep up with her. 🙂  I took this picture of them at the Omaha Zoo.

My daughter took this picture in Hawaii.

Thoughts:

Terry Spear once again returns readers to the world of her Heart of the Wolf series with a Christmas treat, A SEAL Wolf Christmas. Spear’s attention to detail and her remarkable research into pack dynamics and behaviors has made this a must read series for fans of paranormal romance. Her latest offering has mystery and danger, as well as, a good dose of the Christmas spirit. Spear’s talent for writing compelling characters, with unrealistic abilities is exceptional. This author writes about the impossible and makes you believe every word!

The Heart of the Wolf series was one of the very first paranormal stories I read, when I decided to give the genre a go. I wasn’t sure if I’d like it, if I would find it over-the-top or just too far fetched. I am so very glad that I chose this series to start with, because I think it made all the difference. Had I started with a series that was not as well written or researched, I may have given up on it all together and I very happy I did not.

This series is written with such a great amount of authenticity. Terry Spear has done extensive research and it comes through on every page. Her shapeshifting werewolves act like real wolves, they are territorial and acquiesce to the alpha, they react like real wolves and they effect is mesmerizing. Readers who are looking for a werewolf series that has balance and sizzle, need look no further, the Heart of the Wolf series has it all. A SEAL Wolf Christmas may be the twelfth book in the series, but it doesn’t look like Spear will be done telling her stories about this big extended wolf family any time soon!

“Great characters, story, & a hot highlander!”

The Highlander

Romance Historical

THE HIGHLANDER by Terry Spear is Book 5 in this author’s Highlandersseries. Niall MacNeill and his friend Gunnolf are charged with finding a certain Frenchwoman and escorting her to Niall’s cousin, Laird James MacNeill, for her own protection. The lady’s father had saved James’ life once during the Crusades.

The search takes the warriors to the Lowlands of Scotland. At the opening of the book, Niall is just regaining his senses after he and Gunnolf were ambushed and attacked by Murray clansmen. He is grievously injured and there is no sign of his friend. He eventually makes his way to a cottage and rests.

When shepherdess Anora comes home, she finds that not only is there somebody sleeping in her bed, but he’s also a very attractive half-naked man. Luckily for her, Niall is a good guy as well as being hot. There are some humorous scenes when they first meet, caused by the fact that Niall wants to keep her from alerting others of his presence while he heals — a pitchfork is involved. Right away, Niall is impressed by Anora’s nerve and then later, her kindness in taking care of him and his injuries. During his convalescence, he grows more and more attached to Anora, even as he suspects she’s actually the woman he’s seeking.

And Deidre’s Secret is now available in Audiobook!

It dropped from 83 degrees to 28. That has to be a record!

Back to edits on two Highland books…
