Vexing the Highlander is Out!

Yesterday, my neighbor, who loves historical romance, asked when I was going to be writing my next Highland book. This will be it. I just love this cover. 🙂 It’ll be next year. I have to finish Loving the White Bear this year and work on the next wolf story after that. 🙂 <3

Tomorrow, I’ll share some Christmas stories, some by me, and some by other authors. Though I didn’t get a lot of takers. Holidays are a hard time to keep up with everything! 🙂

Trouble doesn’t always come in twos.

blaines-stocking-534x800Capturing the warm glow of the fire and a little bit of Christmas lights for that homey feel. I don’t  have a fireplace, so I’m taking advantage of capturing some shots of the warmth of the fire. 🙂

Playing Around with Low Light Indoor Shots

Unfortunately, the focus on the middle picture was more on her bed than her.mishka-body-table-and-fireplace-534x800I wanted to capture the fireplace and my son’s dog, Mishka, in the low light of the living room. The blinds were open, but it’s still not really light, in fact, it was pouring rain all day, and there is no overhead light in the living room. So that was it. I got down low on the floor to take the first two shots. I wanted to get to her eye level.

In the first two shots her bed was farther away from the fireplace so the background had a nice creamy bokeh. In the last picture, I had moved her bed closer to the fireplace and so you see both more clearly.

She was very good. If I’d gotten on the floor with my dogs, they would have been all over me. Actually, she did join me too and I was playing with her, then trying to get her back in her bed to take a couple of more shots.

Now I wish I had a fireplace too. 🙂  It was one thing I really wished I’d had when I bought the house.. But I love so much about the house I bought it anyway. Even though we don’t have long winters, we do have winter and they’re so nice to have.

Cold, Cold, Cold

The falcon ruffled its feathers at me.

6 Reasons to Make Lists

  1. So you don’t forget anything, right? But what if it’s NOT on your list? Standard comment at the grocery store: Did you find everything all right? Yep, as long as it was on my list. Do you notice how you will get all the things you WANT that are NOT on the list? And if you don’t follow the list, you forget to get the things you really NEED? I forgot the dog food one time. It was the one thing I went to the store for. lol Yes, I had to return.
  2. To send to Santa so HE doesn’t forget you this year. Yeah, you know how well that works, right?
  3. So you don’t forget the routine stuff you do so often that it’s just…routine. Did I feed the puppies this morning? They are acting like they haven’t been fed, but I’ve already done so much this morning, I’m sure I’ve fed them. And they will eat as many times as I put out food, so that’s no guarantee they haven’t eaten. Yes, I fed them anyway, just in case.
  4. So you can get more done. Right! It’s not on the list? I can’t do it, because the other things are on my list and so I have to be held accountable. So then what do I do? Add it to the list to cross it off so I feel I’ve done more, because I have. Even if I didn’t get the things on the list done that were already there.
  5. So you can get ahead of the game. What? If you get everything done on the list, that means you have to make another list! And it might be worse than this list!
  6. So you can write it down, know it’s on the list, and not try to keep remembering all the things you need to get done. It’s right there. On. The. List. If it is. 🙂

Oh, and as a writer, I will make a list when I’m done writing the book when I’m re-reading it/proofing it. I will see loose ends I need to fix, names I need to change, descriptions I need to add. And sometimes I don’t want to stop the flow…so I make lists and then come back and fix them.

I have to say here I was obsessive compulsive about lists, getting everything done daily, etc. So I gave up on lists.

BUT, when the tasks begin to pile up, I start a list because otherwise I lose sleep over what needs to get done by what time. And invariably something falls through the crack.

So the good, the bad, and the ugly about lists… are you a list maker?

Okay, that’s one thing off my list. Blogging. Until tomorrow.

Brrrr…Getting Cold Here!

green-bear-red-snowman-sweater-900-007Yes, even the bears are putting on snowman sweaters. 🙂  It’s all relative. It drops to 40’s for us and that’s COLD.  And it’s good for me while I’m writing Loving the White Bear!

Hope you are enjoying the brace of cold weather for all those hot folks in the south. For the north, not so much so, I’m sure. I wanted a fireplace, but this home didn’t have one, so this time of year, it would be so nice to have a gas fireplace.
