The Magic of Fairies

Just when the winter blues are getting to you, or the summer heat is taking its toll, the flower fairies come to renew the flower gardens with their magic.
Large fairy from GT and T Designs.
Large flower background–Daily Texture.
Foreground flowers, butterflies, cat wings, sparkles from my stash.
MJ cat.
Louise Nash small fairy from 3D source. And toning, color changing, lights and highlights added and other textures added.

Some of my daylilies, that have been too hot to flower, have begun to flower! Despite the continuing hot, hot, hot humid days.

I didn’t get anything done on stories yesterday, but I did get to go with the kids and grandkids to see my granddaughter’s new teacher. I have lunch with my granddaughter once a week once that starts up, so I wanted to find out when it was and when they start. And I’ll be driving to pick her up until it cools down a bit so I can walk to get her.

One more day that I have her all day, and then tomorrow our new regimen begins. Which means I have to remember to go pick her up! When she’s in school, I can write when I don’t have her little brother, but then it means I might be in the middle of a scene, really into it and look at the time, horrors, got to run. lol

Have a great day!!! We’re going to do our last swim day and then we’re having our last ice cream treat.

In a Steampunk World

All is not right.

I have a gnat problem. I put down moth traps and that takes care of some of them. But my granddaughter and I spend a lot of time trying to kill the annoying pests. Haven’t figured out a way to eliminate them. They might be drain flies. I don’t have food sitting out, no fruit. It always is in the fridge.

The heat goes on. Maybe some rain next week, hopefully. It’s been like 7 weeks without any rain and all this heat. It’s supposed to be 104 today, and add 10 degrees for the humidity heat index. Awful.

My granddaughter starts school on Wednesday, so new routine. I still have the toddler on that day, so we’ll have to go pick her up from school. Can’t wait to see how she likes her new school year and teacher.

Okay, I’m off to get ready before the two of them land in on me.

Have a super non-steampunk day.

Soooo Looking Forward to Cooler Weather

Created this with a ton of elements and textures. I want cooler weather.

Still working on the cover for Dreaming of the Highland Wolf. I think I’ve got it done now. I have tons of book covers I’ve purchased from artists over the years that I haven’t had time to use for stories, of course. But they never fit the story I’m writing. For this one, I had to have more of a modern Highland story couple wearing kilts, hers a mini-kilt–and I wanted to have an Irish Wolfhound, Scottish Deerhound, and a wolf, essential to the story.

I’m still working on Bear of a Halloween. I added 3,000 words yesterday, yay!!

I keep meaning to get out and work on the weeds, but I was just trying to pick tomatoes and was getting bitten by fire ants and mosquitoes. We’re still at 112 heat index daily with no relief in sight. At 7:30, it feels like 97 degrees.

Have a super wonderful day and I hope yours is cooler than ours!

In a Perfect World

We would have Dragons and Unicorns to love! But that’s okay. We still have jaguar, bear, wolf, and cougar shifters to love!

I’ve got a Celtic clan bear order to fulfill, MacLeod, but waiting on the clan fabric to come from Scotland. In the meantime, I’m working on the bear.

Dreaming of the Highland Wolf and White Wolf Holiday went to my beta readers. I’m working on the dedication and the synopsis and cover for Dreaming. And then it’s back to Bear of a Halloween. I’m halfway done on it, unless I make it longer than a novella.

Got to get to the weeds before they get to me! And the sun! Hot, hot, hot, humid even at 6:30.

Have a great day!!

Fairy and Her Feathered Friends

So yesterday, none of my granddaughter’s girlfriends showed up at the pool and she was tired before even an hour was up. She got out twice to curl up on a chair in the shade. We might only go for an hour with her toddler brother this morning. Now that he’s actually swimming more, not just clinging to me in the pool, he’s wearing out sooner. Whoever heard of a toddler saying he wants to go home and take a nap, right? lol But he does. After we get home, change out of wet suits, we have lunch, and he’s happily off to his nap!

We’ve been pulling out all the metal decorations stored in the garage, one sunflower for fall, and I think we have a pumpkin, snowmen and a Santa that are losing all their paint. So we are in the process of bringing one out at a time and painting them and that’s a fun project for my granddaughter and me. I have a rolling wooden cart outside that I want to spray paint with high gloss after I clean it, and a couple of rusty ornate wrought iron plant holders also, so we’re getting a lot of painting projects done for outdoor stuff this summer.

The Farmers Almanac says we’re going to have a stormier and unseasonably colder winter than normal, which is bad for us because the last time that happened, we lost a lot of plants that normally just don’t take frigid weather well, and not only that, our electric system can’t handle it either. So we’ll see if they’re right or not. Right now we just have a heat index of 111 every day and no end in sight. No rain either.

Okay, off before both kids land in on me. Have a great day!!!

More Steampunk

Well, I think I figured out the ending of White Wolf. Woohoo! But I really need to reread it today to make sure. But that’s always a momentous occasion. And for my fans, I have a new novella coming out soon–Highland wolves? Yes! But more on that later.

Yesterday, while all the birds were feasting in my backyard, just dozens of them, a hawk flew in to catch one. He went straight into my 6 foot tall rosebush, but came out empty beaked. It was such a shock to see him. I post pictures of the hawks that have been on my fence, but there is so much more vegetation, I figured they wouldn’t come to feast on the birds any longer. My mistake. But I have several families of blue jays, cardinals, doves, woodpeckers, bluebirds, chickadees, sparrows, wrens, house finches, etc, that are fun to watch.

We spent 3 hours at the pool yesterday with friends. They had so much fun that they plan to do it again today. One little girl had played with my granddaughter before, so the three girls had a ball. But then my granddaughter wanted to know why she couldn’t have a sister. lol

Tomorrow, we’ll probably be there for just 2 hours. My grandson tells me he wants a nap after about an hour and half at the pool. We usually make it for 2 hours, but he gets tired. We only have through Tuesday for the pool to be open during the week, so I’m trying to take advantage of it for the last few days. We’ve been to the pool all summer long. As hot as it is, that’s about all you want to do.

Okay, off to get ready for my granddaughter.

One with Birds

Another picture created with kit elements, no AI.

Another scorcher of a day. They say in 10 days we might get rain, but I don’t have any hope for it.

I did manage to get one scene written yesterday, yay!!! Still need to wrap up the story.

Granddaughter’s coming, got to run.

Have a great day!

Girl, One with Nature

We had so much fun at the beach!

I turned in Roxie’s Wolff story yesterday, and today, when I have time, I’ll try to work some more on Slade’s white wolf story. I was so tired yesterday, that I tried, but couldn’t get into it. With two grandkids to take care of, I just couldn’t get my mind wrapped around white wolf when they left.

I just have my granddaughter today, so maybe I can get some more of it done. I always write a story that comes full circle. I love doing that. It makes it feel just write. I can’t think of how to do that on this one.

Okay, off to get ready for my granddaughter’s arrival, feed the dogs, the birds, etc. My daughter was amazed at how many birds I have out in the backyard. They have found it a haven once my shrubs and trees grew up out there to make it feel safe. I used to have to throw the leftover food out from them not eating it and it would get moldy and such. Now they eat every drop every day. lol We still are having this horrible heat wave–101 today, but make that 111 with the humidity index.

Have a wonderful day!
