If You Ever Feel Like Things Are Off Kilter…

Maybe they are!!!

My goal today, besides playing on Baldur’s Gate 3–and taking down the metal guard factory and freeing all the slaves, is to send Christmas photos to the kids that I’d taken and to work on another series idea. I had another one yesterday, so that makes 2. I need to make up three.

Forget New Year’s goals. I try to have goals for every day—like writing—and get them done. Gardening–planted onion and garlic seeds yesterday between thunderstorms and tornado warnings. I need to move a rosebush, so hope to do that today.

I haven’t played on BG3 since last Christmas, so I’m getting close to the end…or closer. Then I have a new game, the new Dragon Age, but I’ll probably hold off on starting it until I get some of my writing done!!! I have to admit, it’s been a nice break from writing. I needed that!

I’m off to look for those photos and start sharing so I can begin playing and brainstorming for another series idea! My goal should be the series idea first, but I’ve spent weeks thinking about this, and I just finally came up with the other idea yesterday. So, who knows how long it will take for me to think of something else that is totally unique?

My daughter loves Alice in Wonderland, so she finished this puzzle and I had to take a picture of it.

But it’s hard to find stuff that isn’t just the Disney version. Still, this was fun. We had thunderstorms that chased us out of the pool yesterday and we had them on and off throughout the day. Normally, it’s not my day to take care of my granddaughter, but she wanted to go home with me so we had lunch, watched movies, and read books. She wouldn’t nap though, and I took her home so I could get some work done on cougar.

I have her today and we planned to go swimming again. She’s just now trying to learn how to swim–treading water and trying to make it from point A to point B, but she sinks more than she floats. lol Still, she finally is eager to try and I want to keep it up with her before the kids go back to school and they close the pool. But we’re supposed to have thunderstorms all day. It says 99% this morning, but I’m still seeing the sun, so what do I know? We see thunderheads lots and they’re really spectacular and then nothing happens.

Just checked the weather and it dropped down to 55% chance of rain. But 80% by the time the pool is open. We can swim in rain, just not thunderstorms. So it’s iffy. I don’t want to take her and then have to leave the pool because of the storms. She was so confused yesterday. But they didn’t blow the whistle a second time, she told me. Right, because of the thunderstorms. They close the pool for half an hour and you can’t hang around. You have to leave.

Anyway, I think it’s a stay at home day today.

Well, I’m off to post this before she gets here or it could be another hour or two before I do!

Alice in Wonderland Halloween

My daughter adores Alice in Wonderland–but it’s hard to find Alice stuff that isn’t Disney. When I can, I try to get it for her. She talked her daughter into being Alice in Wonderland for Halloween this year. Because my daughter loves the story so much, I have always gotten my granddaughter Alice outfits over the years and taken photos of her. I’m working on a composite of her for the one this year, if I can ever get it done.

I’ve moved on to the next practice image in the art class and I’ve got to get word count, wish I knew where I was going with the story. When I have an idea, I can really write. So far I’m a 1,000 words ahead, and hope I don’t get 1,000 words behind tomorrow what with Halloween. lol I will be taking care of little one for 3 hours, then we’ll go over to mom and dad’s house to trick-or-treat in the house and have dinner and watch a movie.

Also, I know another book is coming to me for edits soon and that will throw off my schedule. I should be at 31K today.

And the ant killer looks to have worked. I had a thick trail of tiny sugar ants hauling the poison back to the nest for two days. I had bought it on Tuesday morning and set it out about 10 a.m. The line of ants had thinned out quite a bit for the third day, yesterday evening. I kept thinking: it’s working! It’s not working! Because there was still a trail of ants.

The fourth day, this morning, I checked and there are no ants. Not one. So fingers crossed, it worked! But I will keep checking throughout the day.

Okay, enough goofing off. Time to write!

The End and the Beginning

Time for Tea

I turned in Wolff Bros after working the rest of Wednesday and Thursday proofing it and I’m 2,000 word count behind on Billionaire She-Wolf. But now I hope to catch up.

I had a beginning, but no real plot. For a romance, I’ve been told, you have to have the hero and heroine meet early on, and so I had an idea for the meetup. Everyone’s on vacation, I’m trying to keep my story from getting so hugely populated, so I’ve started out with three people.

Now, I have to work in the plot. I was watching a program about Lorraine Bobbitt and that ordeal, and then they mentioned about Tonya Harding and Nancy Kerrigan, Olympic ice skaters and sabotaging Nancy’s career due to Tonya’s husband hiring a hitman. So this morning, I was thinking about that. And coming up with a plot for my current story.

In Wolff Bros, I have no body count at all. I usually end up with a high body count, or at least three or four. None? *sigh* I’ve already planned a dead guy in the beginning of this story. I’m back in the game.

That’s how I do it in my Mad Hatter kind of way. Sometimes I can come up with a plot from the outset, but sometimes, I have to just get them to meet and then go from there.

I’m off to write. Baby now has fifth disease, a red rash all over her face. This is all viral and it will just go away on its own, but her poor little immune system is just having fits with keeping up with all of this.

Mad Hatter Tea Party–Draw a Mad Hatter

I’m still behind on my writing. I had to crash a seaplane so I’ve been doing tons of research on them for the book. Did you know that a lot of places don’t allow seaplanes to land on waterways in their states? That many don’t allow a seaplane to carry external loads, like canoes and kayaks? I’ve watched way too many plane wrecks, trying to get a feel of what it would be like.

Landing gear up? Down? One airplane landed on it’s belly, the pilot trainee forgetting to put the gear down. But he did a great job of getting it back in the air and landing with the gear down the next time. Yes, it did damage to the plane when he landed with the gear up. Seaplanes that have landing gear flip when the landing gear is down. So it’s best to have them up for water landings. 🙂

Rough water, gusty winds can make it difficult to land, but also smooth glassy water because it’s harder for the pilot to judge where the water begins.

See? So I’m behind, but it’s because I have to do so much research. I had one scenario in mind, but it wouldn’t work based on the research. So I had to rewrite all of it, and when I did that, I have some other scenes that I need to change because I did some of the stuff earlier now. *sigh*

Will all of the research be in the book? Nope. But I still need to research to find out if they can do what they do.

I’m also getting Dreaming of the White Wolf Christmas 2nd edits, need to make a few minor changes due next week. AND, I have to write a novella to incorporate in the rerelease of Heart of the Wolf. It will be the 10th anniversary of it’s release next January. Plus, I need to write a letter in the book, all due mid-March. And the book I’m currently writing is due April 1st, when the baby is due.

I also have a writing retreat to go to, first one ever. Have no idea what to expect. I scheduled no writing word count on those days, because it’s a long trip, and I have no idea if I’ll get any writing done at all. But maybe I can catch up???

We were under a tornado warning yesterday morning. But other than thunderstorms, we were fine. Have rain again today, which brings March flowers, right?

Mad Hatter Tea Party–the Treats and Tea

mad-hatter-tea-party-cake-900-014The cakes were all delicious. Everything on the pink cake was edible. The pictures on the cake were rice paper. I ordered the Eat Me cards from Amazon. She also made cucumber sandwiches and we had heart-shaped tuna salad sandwiches, fruit and tea.

The silver set was on loan, Jennifer’s friend’s sister, was generous enough to polish it and offer it for the party.

One of the ladies had the beautiful working teakettle on the stove.

There were several other teapots on loan, but I missed getting a picture of them. 🙁

The food was great. I’ll share about the games and decorations later. 🙂 Back to writing!

Party Decorating–Alice in Wonderland

baby-shower-chandelier-900-007My daughter didn’t like my tassels. I love them! Anyway, so they came down and I have some mini steampunk clocks that I hung up instead, but not loving them. Need to get cards. I don’t play cards since my parents passed away, and they had tons of them. I gave them all away. *sigh*

Need to find a dollar general store and see if I can get a stack that I can use. I make Steampunk hats for bears, occasionally, so if I have time, which I’m quickly running out of, I could make up some little hats. Though they’re Steampunk. And they take time.

If I could get some fabric that would be more Mad Hatterish, maybe I could do that….not sure. 🙂  My problem is time. I need to open up the edits for Dreaming of a White Wolf Christmas today and finish those. I took down my tree, but I can’t get my tree apart. ugh. I need more muscle. I remember struggling with it last year and finally managed to get it apart.

So I’m off like the Mad Hatter to get back to edits!
