Pink, Purple and a Hint of Blue Skies

The skies have really been spectacular lately–beautiful storm clouds, yet, they’re not really producing storms, just an art pallet of color.

Uh, huh. It’s thundering out now. I was out taking pictures of the thunderheads, all blue and white, this morning.

But now it’s back to the book. Waiting on Cougar Undercover notes from one beta reader, and I’ll finish that up. Sent in Night of the Wolf and Flight of the White Wolf.  Still working on Falcon Fae. Okay, so here’s the thing. I’m trying to figure out the end of Falcon Fae and the beginning  of Billionaire Wolf Christmas. 🙂 I keep getting scenes for Falcon Fae, so I’m hoping I can finish that up soon. And I still have 2 blogs to write for SEAL Wolf Undercover’s release in August.

Wolves and Jaguars in one. What could be better?

Oh, I had to do some research on closing a bank account, and I checked online, but I couldn’t find what I was looking for,  so I called my bank.

“What is this for?” he kept asking me.

I told him I could acknowledge him in the book.

“No, thanks, that’s all right. What is your name again?”

I’m sure he had fun telling about that crazy woman who called him about closing a bank account. Forms of ID, how much could you take out? Yes, really, it’s in the story.  Heart of the Wolf’s re-release in January. Night of the Wolf, the new novella in the story.

It’s fiction. She’s a wolf shifter. It’s fantasy. *sigh* No one believes they really exist. But we know better, don’t we!

It’s Just Wrong…

Have you ever picked up the wrong food by accident? Or picked up something you thought would be similar enough because your regular brand is out? Which still makes it wrong because it just doesn’t taste right. Or the texture isn’t right?

I have some cereal like that. I’m eating it because I bought it and it’s edible. But it’s not like my regular brand. I think I picked it up because the other was out of stock for several days.

But one day I picked up chocolate milk by accident. Now, when I was a kid, I LOVED chocolate milk. Kind of like peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Not today.

My daughter said, “Didn’t it look like it was chocolate milk?”

Some covers are more illuminating. I was mainly looking for low fat content. 🙂  But no, it wasn’t a chocolate container with big chocolate words and a chocolate dairy cow on it. 🙂

Now, sometimes covers can be downright deceiving. I buy the store brand/generic tomato sauce. Tomato sauce connoisseurs can probably taste the difference. Not me.  I did a taste test once. Tried all kinds of different fancy brands. They all were the same, as far as I could tell, or care. But all of the cans–tomato paste, sauce and stewed tomatoes have the exact same label. Exact same.  So you have to learn to read. 🙂  Because the title is the only thing that will clue you in. And the font is the same. So you really have to pay attention. I don’t like stewed tomatoes. 🙂

Now, I find that store/generic brands for canned fruit can make a difference. Sometimes the canned fruit for generic is hard and not cooked as well, I guess. Or not ripe enough, or something. So I buy the better brands of that, when I do. Or buy fresh.

And what brought all this on? My cereal. It’s awful. And I can’t wait to eat it up. I live too far out to bother returning chocolate milk to the grocery store, and I even tried to use it on my cereal, which is what I mainly use milk for. But….yuck.

And now I’m off to work on my word count. My puppies have learned if they sit at the makeshift gate, they get to go outside to potty. But they also sit there to tell me, “FEED ME.”

But if they sit by the fence, they go out. I’m not sure they’ve got it. I feed them when it’s time to feed. Not when they want to be fed, because that’s ALL the time.

Hmmm, I wonder if they’d like my yucky cereal?

Not Everything is Black and White, but Sometimes Black and White is Just Right!

Not everything is 50 shades of gray, either. But, I often talk about how people truly aren’t all black and white. They aren’t all good or evil. They are all different.

I like color. Different shades and hues. Like a forest with millions of different colors of green.

When I see photographers take pictures and turn them into black and white works of art, I think it’s so cool. I’m not good at doing that.

But I decided to turn Max’s photo into a black and white, because he is black and white and when I take pictures of him in the house, they always turn him more cream colored. Or oftentimes.

So here is Max, before Tanner was chewing on his whiskers. Max’s hair is still in his eyes, but as it gets longer, it should be better. Thanks to Lin, who sent Max some smaller rubberbands that work much better.  🙂 <3

The Full Moon and Havanese Playing with Ball

Woohoo, I added 2,000 words to Phantom Fae yesterday. Still way far behind. BUT, I don’t let that get me down. I figure I’ll catch up as I get into the story. Or finish later than I had planned.

The other night we had the most beautiful sunset when I took Max out. Unfortunately, by the time I went back in for my camera, it had faded and wasn’t as glorious, so I didn’t take a shot. Then, the next night, it was gloriously foggy. The neighbor’s night lights were shrouded in fog and I could imagine myself in London in the old days with the fog shrouding everything in a ghostly mist. I tried to take a shot of it, but it wouldn’t come out. Overhead, we also had a beautiful full moon. I did get a shot of it. Believe me, doing it while holding a puppy on a leash can be a trial.

I know not to try to take a picture when my daughter’s corgi is on leash, he has such a strong pull. Max is so lightweight, I thought it would work. I finally got him to sit long enough to take the shot.

Last night, again, he was spooked by my shadow. I have to admit that it is very long and scary to a puppy. So I’m going to try and remember to take my camera with me tonight and capture The Shadow. 🙂 <3

He has such a bouncy step and his hair flows as he runs. My poodles had that bouncy step too. I had forgotten. My daughter’s corgi has more of a scamper or scurry. His legs are so short and his body so heavy, he can’t do anything bouncy. But he’s so smart. I love how he can do high 5s. I want to teach Max that a little later. He needs to learn how to lie down first. 🙂

Okay, I actually wrote some of Phantom Fae by hand, so off to type.

Max Playing and Getting Behinder and Behinder…

Puppies are so cute. Max is a ball of fur and energy and bounces when he plays. I was teaching him how to lie down. That one is going to be hard to learn, I can see. He comes, listens up when I say his name, and sits, no hesitation. Down took forever the first 4 times and then after he mastered it each time, not exactly knowing why he was getting a treat after working so hard to get it out of my hand, and lots of praise for doing the job right, he only needed one prompt the 5th time to do it right.

This will definitely take a little longer, but he’s so eager to learn and so we’ll keep practicing until he can do it on command. 🙂 <3

In the meantime, I haven’t worked on Phantom Fae. *sigh* But that’s because, horror of horrors, I realized I hadn’t put out my newsletter for Call of the Cougar, I was waiting until my print version was available, then promptly forgot to do write my newsletter. So working on that this morning, AND, I’ll be reading and critiquing each of the Highland novellas for our anthology coming in Feb, Kissing the Highlander.

I just wrote my blurb and sent my story to another author. So it’s been gone to two so far.  And I’m critiquing one this morning, 2 more after that. 🙂

But it doesn’t mean I haven’t been thinking about Phantom Fae. I have the next scene in mind and I need to write it.

Onward and upward. Off to finish reading over the novella waiting for more of my critiquing and to finish the newsletter. 🙂 And MAYBE I’ll find the time to write the scene today that is rattling around in my brain for Phantom Fae. 🙂
