So I received a note from my editor on You Got Me at Jaguar. They want to change Howard’s last name. No problem, except that he is in a couple of other books that are already published.

I run out of names. Pure and Simple. I make up names for secondary characters, trying to ensure I don’t have the same name because what if–and this has happened–I end up with a hero in one book, and then a hero in a much later book, with the same last name. OMG, I planned it that way! They are now brothers. But sometimes I make a name that my editors don’t feel is hero material. And that is the problem. But you see….I didn’t plan to make him a hero. Note to self–make all secondary male names hero names. This has happened twice for me in my wolf books.

I have over 60 books out and so it makes it a real challenge to keep up with.

Anyway, You Had Me at Jaguar is coming back for a second round of edits any day now, and I received the final proof of A Billionaire Wolf for Christmas, so I’m trying to get through that and turn it in, then get back to the ending on SEAL Wolf Surrender. My plan to just finish SEAL has been thwarted. Next week, I’ll only be getting baby one day a week, so that will give me an extra full day to write. For ONE day. BUT, then I’m helping my daughter with watching baby for several days while she’s busy with her conference, and that does away with my writing goals too….

That means I have to quit goofing off and get all 3 books done, pronto! I need to do the synopsis for the current book too for marketing.

When it gets overwhelming like this, I just tackle the easiest project first–final proofing of Billionaire. I’m hoping to have it done by tomorrow.  This was the neverending story, so it is a really long book. I’m on ch 6 now… I think there are 25 chapters. Maybe more.

Then, I’m going to try and finish SEAL before Jaguar boomerangs back to me.

And that’s the plan. Oh, and take pictures, of course. Got to get my fix in for picture taking! Found two juvenile dragonflies yesterday and my purple magic crepe myrtle is in bloom, and will show off pictures tomorrow!

Have a super, lovely hump day! Mine is grand–full steam ahead–tackle, tackle, tackle….

Zinnia in the Garden

The different colors of zinnia, the gold and light pink are both giant zinnias. The two at the bottom tower over purple Spanish heather!

Baby should be here any second. And I wrote the final fight scene in SEAL Wolf Surrender. Edits for You Had Me at Jaguar are coming in a couple of days, so I really need to finish this other book and get it to my beta readers.

Okay, got to run!!! Have a wonderfully perfectly beautiful day. (By the way, you’re not supposed to have a bunch of modifiers in a sentence like that. Do I care? No! I’m going to have one of those days too!)

Sucky Storm…

Had a lovely birthday time, and then look at what a bird did to my tomato! Carved a jack-o’-lantern with its beak! And storms hit last night.

What makes it a sucky storm? Wind, no electricity, more wind, knocked out my computer, branches and bark down, and NO RAIN.

That’s a sucky storm. At least give us some much needed rain to break the heat wave.

*sigh*

Okay, I’m STILL trying to finish the book. I only have a couple of more chapters until I reach “the end” of editing…that is not the end yet. I still need to write THE END. This morning at 3 am, I was lying there thinking about it…. Did I have a light bulb moment? No. Maybe today.

Have a lovely day and hope your storms are the great kind. We’re in hurricane season, and I really, really hope we don’t ever have another Hurricane Harvey. Category 5. Horrible.

Random Fun

My friend Vonda sent me the beautiful rabbit, and my puppies were hunting the robo vacuum. Max, the white havanese actually caught the brush on the side, and he RARELY barks, but he was barking at the “monster” in the house. lol

And I had fun with steamer chairs–the free ones are here to use: https://kibblywibbly.deviantart.com/art/Steamer-Chairs-stock-photo-free-to-use-531776580

Okay, got to get back to writing!! Have a beautiful day!!!

Birthday Celebration Time!

We’re celebrating my son-in-law’s and my birthday today–my son sent the flowers, and I was having fun with adding a fairy to the dandelion photo.

I’m off to feed the puppies before they starve to death–that’s what they’re telling me anyway. And back to work on the story before we begin partying.

I have to get this done!!! I worked on about 3 more chapters last night after baby went home.

I’ve been watching I Shouldn’t Have Survived. It’s a really good series, but there’s a reoccurring theme: people don’t let anyone know where they’re going, when they’re returning, they don’t take satellite phones, cell phones, GPS locaters, they don’t take water or food, they go it alone.

Yep. And then they get into trouble and no one even knows about it. Now in a few cases, they had the food and water and lost it in a sunken boat, or avalanche, or while pinned under a vehicle. But the avalanche story and the pinned under the vehicle cases? Both were alone and didn’t tell anyone when they were returning and where they were going.

Another thing was checking the weather. Ignoring it or just not checking. And pushing forward, when they should have stayed put. One got lost in a blizzard and kept pushing to reach the top. He was an amateur hiker, lost all sense of direction, had told people where he was going to be, but he ended up in a different valley, and fell off a cliff. Two different cases got lost in the outback, kept walking. Everyone knew where they were supposed to go, and searched for them there, but they didn’t stay put.

Clothing issues. No one planned to be gone for long. Hour, three hours. Most of the places were hot during the day, and the temperature would drop drastically at night. Hypothermia would set in. They were always wearing light clothing. And most of the time they couldn’t be seen against the vast landscape of desert or snowy mountains or the never-ending sea.

I do have some survival crises in my stories–usually just read tons of similar stories on the internet–avalanche in one book, rip current in another, falling through a snowbridge in another. Since I have to keep my main characters smart, I can’t have them doing dumb things like the survivors did. It has to be a real accident. Nothing they could plan for. Or in the case of an avalanche, that knuckleheads created by running up and down a slope on snowmobiles and the wolves had to rescue them.

But it helps to watch shows like this to get new ideas!

Have a great one! I’ve got to get to work on the story before I can play.

Playing Around with Photos!

So baby is here, so fussy, slept all night, didn’t want to be held, wanted to be held, ate a little, played a little, and I finally thought I’d try to put her down for a nap, even though I didn’t think she wanted one. That was it!!!

While she slept, I finished making up the collages for the Click, Grow, Love challenge. It was about taking pictures of what you see in the garden. So I did two: one on garden trinkets and one on flowers and animals in the garden. Though on the trinket one, I had a couple of doves take a seat next to the fairy and one on the stepping stone.

I also worked on a composition for a contest, though mine isn’t that great. Still have lots to learn. But they’re fun to do.

Okay, baby is awake and laughing, so must do something with her. I’m halfway through edits on the book, still no end in sight. lol

Have a wonderful day!!!
