Fun with Photos

Kids’ bikes and scooters at the school–glad to see so many kids getting some exercise. A pale yellow clouded butterfly on my neighbor’s tropical hibiscus. They usually fly so fast and move so much, it’s hard to capture them. This one loved this hibiscus. I put in some that are winter hardy, so we’ll see if it can withstand my heat, but his hibiscus die sometimes, so I wanted something that would survive the extremes. A honeybee on milkweed. The honeybees have been in droves all over the flowers and I’ve seen one of those black bumblebees too. I hope I captured a good picture of it. And a caterpillar on one milkweed leaf, monarchs on milkweed flowers. Everyone is getting their food before the cold weather hits. We have 89 degree heat index today. Doesn’t seem possible in November. But by Friday, the temps are 46-57. We’ll be freezing!

Okay, baby is coming. I only got 700 words written yesterday, but I was busy into edits on SEAL Wolf Surrender. I went through the whole manuscript yesterday, just going over changes, but then started reading the whole book through to make sure the changes worked. So I’m only on ch 6.

Baby came early, so she’s having breakfast and watching Calico Critters, and I’m off to work on reading SEAL while I can.  We’re supposed to have rain all afternoon so as soon as it’s light out, we’re going for a long walk.

Have a super, great day!!!

More Edits…Sleeping Monarchs and Fall

Captured the fall colors on a neighbor’s tree, really pretty, and sleeping monarch butterflies.

I wrote only 1600 words yesterday, though I probably made 2000 from the words I wrote after I went to bed. Some, I wrote while I was at the medical clinic. Have to have blood drawn, routine, but that meant an hour’s wait sitting in the waiting room and I always take a notebook with me to write on. So I was working on both The Witch and the Jaguar and Woodland Fae yesterday. But then last night I received final proofing for SEAL Wolf Surrender! So I need to get to work on it. She needs it back in a week.

See why I haven’t been doing NaNoWriMo in November for many years though I joined many, many years ago? I’ve had 3 books I needed to edit for my publisher. One of them isn’t due until Feb, but I’ll get it done in the next couple of weeks. It’s hard reading one story and then jumping into another and then back to another, and then off to another. So I usually just work on one straight through to finish it. UNLESS I have scenes for another book that just pop up. Or I’m on a roll on a book and then I just stick with it.

Anyway, I need to walk to the voting place today as soon as it’s open, and pick up my conked out sewing machine, it’s fixed! And edit and try to get some word count today too. It’s 76 out already and 99% humidity. ugh It won’t cool off until Thursday, looking forward to it!

Have a super day!!

Darkland Elf is Done! NaNoWriMo is Ongoing!

Sleeping caterpillar–original picture, and adding an interesting sky to the picture for a fantasy look.

While I was editing and proofing Darkland Elf, I ended up adding 2100 words, so made my daily goal for NaNoWriMo. It’s going to beta readers soon and I’m jumping on….I think The Witch and the Jaguar. I keep seeing scenes from the story.  But I might need to write on Woodland Fae or Claiming the White Bear…whichever pulls me into the story first.

Okay, I’m off to work!! I have to read the stories over to see which one snags my attention the most. Hope you have a beautiful day filled with magic!

A Billionaire Wolf Christmas Review! & Keeping up with NaNoWriMo!

Great Review:

https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2439173235
A Billionaire Wolf for Christmas is a fun, suspense filled story with a happy ending. Terry Spears writes a believable story and you feel like you could be friends with these characters. There always seems to be a twist that you don’t see coming. I can’t wait for the next Billionaire Wolf book or any other of her stories. I recommend any story and I became a fan with the first book I read. Keep the stories coming Ms. Spear. ~~Kim’s ReviewsA Billionaire Wolf for Christmas

I wrote over 3,000 words yesterday to finish Darkland Fae. Woohoo! So, today I need to do the edits I was working on last night, then read through the whole book to see what else I need to change. But it’s written, from beginning to end. And that’s the greatest feeling of all. Finishing the book. Beginning one too. Getting halfway done. But finishing–that’s the ultimate goal.

I need to get word count on another book for NaNoWriMo also today, so I don’t fall down on the job with that. But for now, I’m off to edit, read, listen to music, and exercise!

I also turned in Day of the Wolf, a novella for the 10th anniversary release of Destiny of the Wolf for next year.

It’s pouring rain out too and sheet lightning is flashing across the darkness, just the perfect day to create ambience for reading and editing.

Have a great day!!!

Continuing with the Story & Sleeping Caterpillars

Yesterday, I had the baby and she fights sleep unless she falls asleep on my shoulder as I’m walking her. But I can’t walk her like that for two hours, so I tried to put her down, and nope, she wakes and has a fit. Walking then won’t work, because mean grandma will try to put her down again. So after hours of doing all sorts of fun things, I know she has to sleep. She’s clingy, tired, and so I think: Stroller walk! We walked the half a mile to my daughter’s development and I figured I’d take her to their play park, but every time I hit that area, she’s sound asleep. Yay! So I walk back to my house and she sleeps in the stroller.

She woke after an hour and half and I cuddled her in my arms and she slept for another half hour. But, I was also able to work on Darkland Elf and wrote another 2200 words. Once she went home, I also finished proofing Day of the Wolf, so am getting ready to turn that in today. Then back to Darkland Elf. I hope to finish writing it this weekend, then work on Woodland Fae or The Witch and the Jaguar, whichever comes to me. With this one, it’s practically writing itself, which is why I’m not stopping on the story. I also need to edit my Silver Town Christmas book next. No contract for the next wolf books yet, so continuing on my merry way to finish up other books too.

As to all of these sleepy little critters, they were having conversations of their own. Sleepy butterflies, and sleepy caterpillars. “Hey, George, you ate all the leaves!”

And: “Raindrops keep falling on my head, back, antenna, give me a break out here. I’m already cold enough!”

And that’s their story and they’re sticking to it.

Have a super wonderful weekend. Off to write!

NaNoWriMo & Monarch Butterfly Caterpillars

What do they have in common? I had to stop writing and take pictures.

Hoards of Monarch Butterflies visited the milkweed and now I have beautiful monarch butterfly caterpillars. We still will have like 81 degrees on Monday, but it’s time for all good little butterflies to head on down south.

So I made 5,341 words by last night on Darkland Elf. I’m 10,000 words over what I set as my minimum goal, and if I didn’t have baby here, I’d be writing up a storm. I hope to get at least 2,000 done today though. 🙂 I want to get this done before I start reading Day of the Wolf. I’ll probably turn that story in to my editor on Monday.

My neighbor lost a ten-foot juniper tree during the storms on Halloween the other night. We had winds up to 56 miles an hour. It always makes me worry about my swaying pine trees.

Okay, baby is due any second. Off to get ready!

A Fae Day–but off to The World of Elves

Today has been a fae day!!!!! Which means that everything that could go wrong, could go wrong. First, I was taking out the trash and bringing in my Halloween decoration and the puppies got out. I LOVE my neighbors. One of the men tried to chase the two down, got one home, alerting me that they had sneaked out the front door when I hadn’t properly closed it. And then two other neighbors chased Max down. I walked, drove around the neighborhoods, couldn’t find him, but when I got home, Eugene Ping had him in his truck. THANK YOU! I don’t believe Max would have figured out how to get home. Dumb dog. Don’t they know that that’s where they get all their loving?????

But the fae day wasn’t just mine. When I took my car in to get an oil change, the one guy there had lost a customer’s keys, and the guy working on my car left his phone in my vehicle. Thankfully, I had stopped by Starbucks for a peppermint mocha to make myself feel better and saw his phone. I was able to swing around and return to the oil change place and drop off the phone. Had I gone to the grocery store like where I was headed next first, it would have been a real mess trying to get back to the oil change place. (Is it too evil of me to be glad that the fae don’t only mess with me???)

Anyway, so it’s been a fae day.

On the way home from the grocery store yesterday, I saw a wild red baby pig. I so wished I could have stopped the car and gotten a picture!!!! I’ve heard they are in our woods, but I had never seen one.

We were under tornado watch last night until 10 pm for Halloween. I had lots of trick-or-treaters before I took baby home to her parents and had dinner and watched Hocus Pocus with them. We had a great time. But I had to leave to go home during the brunt of the storm, 5″ of rain, could barely see the road and it was flooded, but luckily, everyone was really driving slow, couldn’t believe it. Usually, it doesn’t matter how bad the conditions, you always have someone rushing to get somewhere. At least I didn’t have to worry about kids out looking for candy.

So I’m off to work on Darkland Elf. I’ve promised it FOREVER, and it’s been on my TBA list in all my books FOREVER, so it’s about to finally be done. Then it’s back to: The Witch and the Jaguar, Woodland Fae, and Claiming the White Bear.

Okay, so here’s the deal. I’m signed up for National Novel Writing Month, but you can only list one book in there. I found on the forums a group who are like me! Yay! I couldn’t imagine I was so unique. Yes, we are all working on multiple manuscripts. And like me, we want to work on all of them. With NaNoMo, you are supposed to get at least 50K done on one. I can’t. I need to finish Darkland Fae (already at word count), write 20K on The Witch and the Warlock, 30K on Woodland Fae, and not sure on Claiming the White Bear. 🙂 So I’m working on as many projects as I can to finish some of them up this month.

I will get 50,000 words for NaNoMo, but it will be for multiple stories.

AND, I got Day of the Wolf back that I need to read over, an I have edits for Silver Town Christmas I need to go over.

Now that the dogs are home safe and sound, and I’ve run my errands, it’s time to get cracking on the books!

Hope you have an UN-Fae Day.
