More Bears, More Books

Big blue bear (528x640) navy

I stayed up too late making bears and editing the current work in progress, A Silver Wolf Christmas, so instead of in running mode, which includes watering the new shrubs pronto as it’s already warm out and will be 104 degrees today, I’m trying to put up blogs and take bear pictures, this is the latest. Big Blue comes with Baby Blue, and I’m working on her now. I still need to embroider the paws on this one also.

But later. Need to write 3500 words today and tomorrow and I will have 20,000 words this week. I started on Wed, so not too shabby! 🙂 <3

But I have a slow start today.

*sigh*

Hope you have a lovely Saturday!

I’m off to water before it gets too miserably hot. I do have to say that we had over 100 degrees up to around 109-110 one year for about 3 weeks with no relief, so this year really hasn’t been bad. Even though the 90s started in June, and that was a little early for us!

Building a Business–1 Book, 1 Bear at a Time!

I’ve written probably 70 books, some not yet published that need a lot of work, 60 published already, and with bears? I have no idea how many I’ve made and sold. 🙂 <3

But this has been going on for YEARS. And years. And years.

Bayleigh Personalized Sweater Bear

Bayleigh Personalized Sweater Bear

When I had been embroidering, which I finally incorporated into my personalized bears, I had been doing needlework for years also.

I have finished maybe 12 bears in the last few weeks, which has only taken me that long because I’m waiting on clan fabric, and taking trips, and the like. And realized I have 17 bears still to do and more orders coming in.

How do I do it? Promote, write, create bears, water, feed the birds, take trips, and much, much more?

I’m goal oriented. I might not be able to plot out my books, total pantser here (as in seat of the pants writer), but yesterday, I had several goals to meet: water plants, feed birds, finish up 1 bear, nearly done with a second, and finishing a third today, because my goal is to get the rest of the contest wins and the three bears out on Friday.  Word goal: Reach 7,000 words on A Silver Wolf Christmas yesterday. The story will have to be revised a lot. I need more….something. But I won’t know what it is until I’m farther along in the story. Today, my goal is to reach at least 10,000. By weeks’ end, another 10,000 so I’ll have 20,000. And that’s how I get so much done.

MacRae Clan Bear

MacRae Clan Bear

So this morning, I’m finishing up one of the bears–normally I don’t do that in the morning. Writing comes first. But, I have one done and need to take a picture now that it’s light out, and want to have the other ready for a picture. I used to send them off and then had no picture to show for the bear. The last one will probably be finished too late tonight and I will need to take a picture of it in the morning, then take them in to ship tomorrow.

I try to group things together so that I’m not doing one thing only–and that helps so I’m not trying to jump from project to project constantly. Even though I have to do that too, because new deadlines pop up and they take priority.

Anyway, so that’s how I do it. 1 Book, 1 Bear and eventually, they look like they are multiplying like Bunnies.

Have a super great TGIF Eve!!!

A SEAL Wolf for Sale is Done!!!

????

Besides getting covers, which is totally fun, writing the book is the utmost fun!!! Saying THE END after weeks, months of writing on it, brainstorming, gnashing of teeth–not mine, but the wolves, it’s finished. Not that it’s finished, finished. Like ready to be out there tomorrow for the reading public. But the story has a beginning, a middle, and an end. What more could a writer want???

So it’s off for review and I’ll have edits, but the book is done.

*Big Sigh*

Because when I’m nearing the end of a book, I have to neglect everything else. So I have the big Jaguar Hunt tour coming up for June and have had to put it on hold until I could finish this book. Now, I have a stack of interviews and blogs to do. So the work is not done. Just a different kind of work.

And I’m excited about finishing a bear for an order.

And I cleaned my house. LOL

Storms are rumbling the whole time and I keep thinking how perfectly moody it is for writing on one of my partially written vampire books. But fans are waiting for The Viking’s Highland Lass, so as soon as I catch up on the guest blogs and finish the bear, I’ll be back to the Highlanders. 🙂

Have a super lovely evening!

Time to get back to work…blogs…or the bear. Hmm, if I work on the bear, I can watch a movie…..

What would you do if you were me?

Only 2 More Blog Stops!! For Silence of the Wolf & A Black Bear and Vulture Friends!

I’m at Sia’s Thoughts over Coffee today for another chance and have one more on Monday, and that’s it! 🙂

http://siamckye.blogspot.com/2014/03/interview-with-terry-spear.html

black bear coming toward us (640x427)
A black bear and his turkey vulture friends.

And I just completed Matheson Clan Bear triplets for another order and will be shipping them today!
Matheson bears (640x239) (2)

In previous posts, I’ve shown the turkey vultures surrounding the lion and lioness as if they were part of their royal court. And actually perched on top of a rhino that was sleeping. I’ve never seen the bear up and moving around. And I’ve never seen the turkey vultures in his exhibit. So see? They might not be the greatest pictures as far as photography goes, but as far as subject, pretty cool, don’t you think?

black bear side vultures (640x427)

I managed to get to 27,000 yesterday, despite being on a LIVE blog tour from noon until midnight. And I should make my goal by the weekend of 30,000, maybe more.

If you have a chance or the inclination, drop by Sia’s blog and comment for a chance at a win!

Have a super great TGIF! 🙂

Oh, and I’m from the bear state of California, and I’m researching grizzlies in Montana for A SEAL Wolf for Sale, and I saw the bear at the zoo, so what do you think I had a nightmare about???

6 Degrees Cold–Freezing Rain

sleet 005 (267x400)

Ice on the suet bird feeder

cardinal sleet (400x298)

I caught the cardinal below the window, the blinds were open, couldn’t pull them up without scaring him off, but he’s even got ice on his tail feathers and their bird feeder has a layer of frozen water on top.

sleet 006 (400x174)

I finished two of the bears and have them and books to ship, but we’re going to have freezing rain all day today and it’s only 6 degrees out for now. Soooo…

campbell clan bear 001 (370x400) (2)

MacPherson Clan Bear 001 (372x400)

Campbell Clan bear and MacPherson Clan bear are ready to go to Australia!

The Matheson Clan Bears are nearly ready. Just need some more clan fabric from Scotland.

daffodils in the sun and bears 003 (400x286)

And I’m off to work on taxes, a student’s lesson, and getting books and bears ready to ship.

But, no matter what, I can’t quit thinking of books. Two days away from the STORY, or STORIES, was way more than a break that I needed.

So last night I was mulling over A SEAL Wolf for Sale, which is the next deadline book I have. And The Viking’s Highland Lass, which I have written 14,000 words on, but am not sure I’m going in the right direction on it. So more pondering on that. However, I have come up with the way I will begin SEAL. I want fun, excitement, adventure, the usual. 🙂 And I think I have the right scenario in mind.

I have ice on the inside of my kitchen window. Which means I need to replace it!!!

Have a lovely Monday! Hope you are not having icy weather like me. 🙂

I often forget to include a link to my bears when I’m posting about them, but here ’tis: www.celticbears.com

And just a reminder, Silence of the Wolf is available online and at stores tomorrow. Actually online, the orders are already shipped. 🙂

In the Beginning

Yesterday, I had a winning start on the next book. Well, actually, I  have several in process right now. But I was reading a medieval romance and it finally got me into the mood to write The Viking’s Highland Lass and so I wrote 6,700 words yesterday. It doesn’t always happen that way. Often, I’ll be thankful to write a 1,000 words, 2,000 words being my goal for a day. But one scene led to another, and I finally had to quit, well, printed off pages of that and Cougar’s Mate, and edited them last night so I’m working on the revisions next, hoping to have 10,000 words by today.

<

Sometimes, we just need a little inspiration–seeing a movie, or reading a book. Some writers say they never read. Ever. How can  you not read a book? And be a writer of books?

<

The joy to me is in creating a story, but I love jumping into worlds other authors have created too. To lose myself in the conflict and the fantasy and just enjoy. Sometimes I’ll watch a futuristic story and think, oh, what if my character has a similar vice or strength? Not that it would be futuristic in nature, but just something about the character resonates and I want to make my character like that.

<

The temperature went from a high of 73 yesterday, to a high of 37 today. There should be a law against temperature extremes like that. But in the story, a snowstorm is wreaking havoc.  Did you know that a storm or a setting can be as much of a character in a book? Anyway, we have 80% of rain, with 25 wind chill right now. So you know what that means? Perfectly stormy weather to write my snowstorm in.

<

The other day I saw the movie Shadow Recruit with my daughter and son-in-law. Lots of action, CIA is soooo perfect, it’s funny, but it has a lot of suspense, thriller, cute love story, and I enjoyed it.

<

Sure, it’s a total fantasy that they can take a guy who doesn’t know how to be a real agent–despite that sure, he’s an ex-marine, and really, really smart–but it’s fantasy, folks. LOL

<

Have you ever noticed stories that say: Based on a true story? Based on actual events?

<

But how much of it is true? Okay, so the sun sets every night, and it rises every day. Now, we know that’s true. So if we have a story where it shows the sun setting and the sun rising, then we can say it’s based on actual events, right? Those are two events that truly happened. Really.

<

So here’s my rendition of a true event:

<

trees with moss in magic light and haze in background
The bears and the girl and the forest are real.

<

The fantasy? She is not sitting in that forest. And the bears are the same height, 10 1/2″ tall.

<

I rest my case. And now I’m back to creating my fantasy worlds!

<

Stay warm if you’re cold and cool if you’re hot, and I’m off to write!
