Carolina Anole Showing Off

The Carolina anole has a forked tail! So now I can recognize him from the other little insect eaters. He was puffing his throat out to attract a female. And who knew they’d have baby pineapple plants at the IKEA store. I had to get a picture. It’s so cute. A friend said she planted a pineapple and it took 3 years to grow one, but it was sooo good.

I can’t sleep. Second night in a row. I’ve got to finish this book. I’m stressing.

I saw where you can get more done at 4 am. But hey, by noon, I’ll be half alseep.

Have a super lovely day!!!

Wearing Green!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day

Yes, I have several Irish ancestors, Scottish, Viking, English, German, Welsh, French, Canadian–so just a melting pot of all good.

When I was in school, I was proud to wear the green, but it was a necessity also, if you didn’t want to get pinched!

So here’s to loving green. I love green in the landscape, makes me feel connected, dreamy, at peace.

Loving the White Bear–Print Version Approved!

Finished proofing Loving the White Bear! I approved the final version. The print version should be available soon! https://www.createspace.com/6918350

loving-the-white-bear-generic

Rob MacMathan and his brother and a friend run the White Bear Wilderness Adventures Tour, White Bear, where polar bear shifters have staked a claim. This is their last tour group of the season, but when photojournalist, Alicia Raycroft, touches Rob and envisions what he sees, though her paranormal abilities deal with psychometry, whereas he’s clairvoyant, they’re both stunned. He witnesses a fight with an enraged grizzly; she sees a polar trying to eat her, which he interprets to mean he’s wearing his polar bear coat and trying to save her. In no way can he reveal the truth to her. Yet, just that connection between them pushes them to go beyond his self-imposed boundaries with both a client and a human.
Alicia is fascinated with Rob, not only because he’s rugged and handsome and just as interested in her, he intrigues her like no other man has ever done when her touching him reveals he has abilities like she has. She envisions a white bear coming for her as snow swirls about her in the Alaskan wilderness, yet she’s determined to take this trek even if it’s her last. She believes fate is predetermined and nothing she will do can change the outcome anyway. Alicia and Rob are already headed down one dangerous path, so why not risk a chance at love too? Only he has more dark secrets he’s unwilling to share

I also discovered the links are now available to preorder the next 3 books coming out this year! 🙂 <3

So I was cutting back the esperanza after the freeze killed it back. I wasn’t sure if the leaves would come back on the branches, but they weren’t. They’re coming from the ground. But then I saw a wondrous site. 🙂 <3 It pays to pay attention to detail.

So I left the lizard’s hiding place alone.

Back to all the deadlines! 🙂 <3

Have a wonderful weekend!

USA TODAY Review! for SEAL Wolf Hunting and a FB Party Blooper!

I’m excited to share a review at USA Today for SEAL Wolf Hunting!!

Book 16

Book 16

http://www.usatoday.com/story/happyeverafter/2015/07/09/becky-condit-romance-rec-terry-spear/29919673/

I ran errands, had to do promo, and had to do chores all day yesterday, so no, I didn’t reach my goals. *sigh* Today, I’m going to have my nose to the grindstone all day and all weekend.

But I wanted to share this FB party blooper:

I have to say that only an author could do this. Or maybe, only THIS author could do this. I was sending, or trying to send, a fan a code for a free book after the party on Tuesday. I copy and pasted the link. ONLY, it didn’t really copy and paste THAT link.

It posted a research link: How to falsify a paternity DNA lab result.

Okay, so this has REALLY only to do with a story. Fictionalized. Nothing personal.

So I hope that if I ever send you a link, it’s the right one. lol

I’m off to write, and I hope to get a lot further than I have for the last three days.

A Trip Means Research or Research Means a Trip???

wild horse (2) (640x510) cow on top of mesa (640x427) sheep and dog (2) (640x427) angora goat looking at me (640x299) lizard (640x427) jack rabbit (640x427)

I used to take trips without thought to using the locations for a story, but when I became published, that all changed. I kept thinking about places I’d been–ski vacations in Colorado and Vermont and Pennsylvania, trips to the Caiman Islands, Hawaii, and the Virgin Islands and I’ve used several places in my stories. Greece? Possibly. Scotland was another story. It was my first time out of country where I actually went to do research–to visit 7 castles and get a feel of the landscape, whether there were enough trees for cover for my wolves, and the temperatures and the feel of the land.

So when I went to New Mexico, it was to see the wolves. But while there, we actually saw Mexican Gray Wolves also at another sanctuary, volcanoes, an ice cave, and a couple of reservations, and the ancient Anasazi ruins at Chaco.

I also considered the landscape for a story. Would it work for wolves? Or cougars? Or some other story? Here, you see trees, and there were trees in some areas, like at the volcano and ice cave we visited. But there were vast areas where very little was growing. I wondered how anything could survive out there as little water as they have.

When I returned to Central Texas, I felt relief to see GREENERY, trees, water!

I’ve been to many of the places I write about and it really does give a a feel for the area–more so than just reading about it and perusing pictures. It gives you a real sense of being there, because you have been there.

For one thing, it’s a lot drier. And we were on dirt roads a lot, so dusty. I kept looking for signs of life and saw none. And yet, I know it exists. When we were at the ancient Chaco ruins, I saw several lizards and a jack rabbit close up. On the way on and off the reservation–we took pictures of angora goats, wild horses, and sheep with their shepherding dog, cattle, and elk, none of them fenced in, all just roaming free.
I thoroughly enjoyed visiting New Mexico and the wilderness out there–no cell reception, therefore, no GPS, no internet, obviously, we used an outhouse most of the time to conserve water, and the solar powered electricity afforded us one little tiny light for about an hour, and that was it–with my friends and am ready for the next road trip!

So will I set a story in New Mexico? Most probably! Even if I use it for a romantic suspense.

Speaking of stories, I’m still working on She-Wolf Leader of the Pack proofing before I turn it in, so have a lovely Saturday! I’m off to work!
