I’m excited to share a review at USA Today for SEAL Wolf Hunting!!

I ran errands, had to do promo, and had to do chores all day yesterday, so no, I didn’t reach my goals. *sigh* Today, I’m going to have my nose to the grindstone all day and all weekend.

But I wanted to share this FB party blooper:

I have to say that only an author could do this. Or maybe, only THIS author could do this. I was sending, or trying to send, a fan a code for a free book after the party on Tuesday. I copy and pasted the link. ONLY, it didn’t really copy and paste THAT link.

It posted a research link: How to falsify a paternity DNA lab result.

Okay, so this has REALLY only to do with a story. Fictionalized. Nothing personal.

So I hope that if I ever send you a link, it’s the right one. lol

I’m off to write, and I hope to get a lot further than I have for the last three days.

Excerpt: ‘SEAL Wolf Hunting’ by Terry Spear

Terry Spear joins us to share an excerpt from her new SEAL Wolf Hunting, book 16 in her Heart of the Wolf series.

About the book (courtesy of Sourcebooks Casablanca):

Hottest of the hot on the Navy SEAL wolf team.

Paul Cunningham has eluded many traps in his long career as a Navy SEAL, but there’s no way out of this one. On a rare visit home, he gets “volunteered” for a local charity bachelor auction, and the community is counting on him. Then he discovers that the sexy she-wolf with the winning ticket is Lori Greypaw—the one woman he could never resist. And she has plans for Paul that go way beyond a simple date. For the first time in his bachelor life, this alpha wolf SEAL is going to have to prove his worth…

Terry sets the scene for us …

***

Okay, I’m behind on word count. First, I’ve been writing 5,000 a day, until party day, and I left that day free. I wrote a 1,000 that day, then yesterday was supposed to be my 5,000 day, but I only wrote 1,000. 🙁 I spent the day getting contest wins to ship and responding to a million different comments. It’s great exposure, and I have to say I am sending 4 of my Heart of the Wolf, first book in the series, to 4 brand new Heart of the Wolf Series books and one of my winners got excited about my Highland medieval series, so that was so much fun.

What’s funny is in the beginning, I had no series name. Then everyone kept asking me what it was. I didn’t realize I was going to  have such a long-running series. Soooo, my fans kept calling it the Heart of the Wolf Series, and that stuck. So with Jaguar, I just said make it Heart of the Jaguar Series, and then did the same with my Cougar series. 🙂

I have to ship all the books and autograph books at the two stores that carry them today. So I won’t be able to get as much word count today either. And, I just got in first line edits on She-Wolf Leader of the Pack, so those have to take priority. *sigh*

And I’m behind on exercising. 🙁 I’ve been walking 5 miles a day, mostly stationary so I can still be working at home. But I’ve only been walking 1-2 miles with trying to write. *double sigh*

So there went all my goals. But you see, it’s not forever. And revising goals is just fine too. By writing so much in a few days, I have gotten further than I thought I would. I’m at 57,000 and need 23,000. So really getting close. And yesterday I was also brainstorming some ideas for the end of the book, jotted down a bunch of ideas, so see? I was working on the book. Just not with word count. And that’s important too.

I want to pitch White Wolf Christmas for 2017. I need to get caught up with the Legend of the White Wolf pack. They haven’t had their story told since that one came out as book 4. I need to write another jaguar book to keep the series going, but not sure who needs their story told next. Maybe someone totally different. I’m thinking of a trip to Hawaii.

For my characters. Been their twice, beautiful. Seems like the perfect landscape for a couple of jaguar shifters.

Gigantic Jaguar Yawn–My what big teeth you have

My internet is really slow this morning, so driving me crazy.

Anyway, I still have to write the Jaguar Christmas story by November, so not like I don’t still have books to write. 🙂

Okay, off to get my day started. If you have picked up SEAL Wolf Hunting and have read it and loved it, I would love a review on Amazon or Barnes and Noble. I never think to mention it, but that would be great!

Have a super wonderful day! Off to do something I’m supposed to be doing now!

SEAL Wolf Hunting is OUT!!!

After months of writing, more weeks of editing, and more revising, and proofing, and in the meantime writing 4 more books–Silver Wolf Christmas (Oct 2015), She-Wolf Leader of the Pack (Feb 2016), SEAL Wolf Diving for Trouble (Summer 2016), Phantom Fae (Apr 2015), and 55,000 words into Billionaire in Wolf’s Clothing (25,000 words to go, woohoo!), while promoting the new release of Jaguar Pride (Feb 2015) it seems like eons ago that I wrote SEAL Wolf Hunting. An eternity.

Phantom Fae

Don’t have covers for SEAL Wolf Diving for Trouble, or She-Wolf, or Billionaire yet. 🙂

And here you all thought I was goofing off!!!! With trips, and book signings, and playing with puppies and taking pictures, and visiting zoos and wolf parks and well, just plain old goofing off.

But you see writing is REALLY my day job and unlike Rick Castle on CASTLE, who writes one book a year, I get a little more done in a year. I have to. I have 3 wolf books and a jaguar book coming out next year. And more, when I can find the time. See if you can match that, Rick Castle.  Oh, sure, he’s running around flirting with Detective Kate Becket and helping her to solve murder cases, but that’s the same as taking trips to zoos, playing with puppies, and taking pictures–time-wise, right?

And yet he’s a multi-millionaire crime thriller novelist. Hmm, maybe I should switch genres. Oh, I know it’s because the women flock to him and books aren’t the only thing that he’s signing. *sigh*

So I have to make do with what I have and…write more.

Book 16

Book 16

I have to thank my fans for loving my books though. You are my inspiration! Every time I write a scene, I wonder–will you love it as much as I do? I’ve been writing some fun scenes in Billionaire in Wolf’s Clothing, and those scenes make the book memorable to me. But every book has them.

Even after writing so many other books, nearly 5 since I wrote SEAL Wolf Hunting, I still can vividly see some of my favorite scenes–Paul Cunningham, retired Navy SEAL wolf who now does undercover freelance work has come home with his SEAL team body, Allan Rappaport, after a grueling mission. They lost one of the college students they were supposed to rescue.

Paul suffers from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. But I don’t belabor it. It’s just to show how something like that can make someone react to situations that others will take no note of. When Lori Greypaw realizes Paul might be reacting to situations because of PTSD, she reaches out to him, to help him deal with it. HE doesn’t believe he is having any trouble at all. But when he breaks into Allan’s mother’s home, both men covered in face paint and armed and ready to take down hostage takers, it’s funny and fun, but there’s this undercurrent of hint of trouble that Paul is dealing with, unbeknownst to anyone.

Anyone can suffer from PTSD.

So I’ve touched on it in the story, in fun ways that show that life isn’t always what’s right in front of you, but sometimes there are hidden fears that make you react to certain situations that might confound others.

Okay off to start the busy day ahead with prizes and such at my site.

I also will be giving away 5 copies of the audiobook through Audible–to lucky commenters on this blog. They are good for US and UK winners. I’m not sure if the codes will work elsewhere. But if you love shapeshifters, romance, the paranormal, wolves, mystery, suspense, action and humor, and enjoy audible books, just tell me why you’d love to listen to this story, and I’ll throw you in the pot for a free copy!

Have a super great day! Mine is on top of the moon because it’s RELEASE DAY!!!

SEAL Wolf Hunting and Sea Lions

Love these reviews! They’re starting to come in for SEAL Wolf Hunting!

It’s releasing on July 7, so get ready!

If only you made a different choice, moved faster, slower, something, anything to change the outcome of a past event that haunts you with regret; haven’t we all experienced that? Such is the conflict that plagues the novel’s hero, Paul. Once a SEAL, always a SEAL and failure doesn’t sit well with him. The good thing about this story is that the angst doesn’t bog down the story, it just helps a reader understand what motivates the hero to make the choices he does, and why he says the things he says. In the very first chapter, not only does a reader see that, but they get a good dose of the kind of humor and quirky shenanigans Ms. Spear puts her characters through. Their first ‘rescue’ mission occurs when they come home and I found it hilarious.” Long and Short Reviews

Finishing up orders for some more bears. Working on MacIntyre Clan Bear this morning and then he and Hamilton Clan Bear will be shipped to their new families. 🙂 <3

And then it’s back to working on guest blogs for the upcoming release: SEAL Wolf Hunting in July.

I’ve also joined up to have Exchanging Grooms in an anthology for Hot Summer Romances. I’ll share the cover as soon as it’s finalized.

I’ve also been asked to be part of a giveaway at Kilted Souls and so I gave up one of my secrets, and commenters who give the right answer will have a chance to win an autographed book! Do you know which is the correct answer?

And I need to get back to writing. But I also finally got a tripod and I’m itching to use it. *sigh* Not enough hours in the day!

Have a super great Wednesday. Been working with the puppies also on obedience training. While I finished bears yesterday and shipped them, I didn’t bother training them. Tanner is brand new at wearing the collar, so I practiced having him come and sit. Max I can do without the collar now. But Tanner is still rather clueless. I was working on Down with them. Neither care to lie down unless they’re tired. So it’s a challenge getting either of them to do Down. So we’re working on it.

Okay, back to work. Nearly down with MacIntyre Clan Bear, then will take a picture and get him ready to ship.

How is your Wednesday shaping up?

Volcanoes and Ice Caves–New Mexico

While we stayed at the Wild Spirit Wolf Sanctuary, we took some day trips to areas around there. And one of the places was the ice cave and volcano. Fascinating! It’s amazing how 10’s of thousands of years have to pass before life can begin to grow, and it does.

They used to take chunks of ice out to preserve food. It’s 31 degrees down there always.

Okay, back to typing up notes. More on the volcano tomorrow. I was starting Bite of the Vampire on the trip to Wisconsin. Couldn’t write on the trip to New Mexico, driving. And I wrote a little on the new medieval Highland wolf book on my trip to Daytona Beach in Feb, but haven’t ever had the time to write up the notes on that one either. 🙂 So that’s what I’m doing today.

Texas Sunset

Texas Sunset

Have you ever been in a rush, and goofed? Well, I was trying to get a picture of another finished Steampunk Bear for an order and the sun was setting, fast, and I forgot to put her Steampunk watch on. So I have to wait for the sun to rise this morning so I can take her picture, again. So the sun just rose, but it’s still fairly dark out. I’ll show her off tomorrow, maybe with another couple of bears if I have time to finish them.

And more finished bears. I really have been working. 🙂

I finished her and she’s ready to ship, and I finished another bear’s paws, and half of another bear’s paws last night for a 4 bear order. But the one has to have a tutu. I’ve made them before, but I wanted to see if they had some other fun techniques to make them, and voila, I LOVE the Internet. All kinds of sites showing how to make one in a fun way.

I turned in A Silver Wolf Christmas, and I’m now rereading Kiss of the Vampire, YA, since I have to update  the cover as soon as I get the finalized one back from the cover artist.

And I’m going to reread The Vampire…In My Dreams and I’ve been reformatting it so that I can republish it. 🙂 <3

And I’m still working with the last beta reader on Call of the Cougar.

I hope to finish 2-3 bears today, and finish reading Kiss of the Vampire. 🙂

What a great, cold day! Happy TGIF!

Don’t you love the new cover???
