I finished You Had Me at Cougar! It’s turned over to my wonderful beta readers and I’m trying to come up with a story idea for the United Shifter Force Christmas novella first. I have a semi-idea for Red Wolf Christmas, the novel.
It always takes me a bit of thinking to figure out how to start it, what’s at stake, how they meet, etc. I also need to pull up the print version of Saving the White Cougar to make sure it’s ready for publication. One final proofing.
I have a long night tonight. My son-in-law is working really late and so I’m having dinner with them and helping with the baby while my daughter gets my granddaughter off to bed. The baby gets really super fussy about that time. That’s okay. Grandma walks him and exercises then. lol
Created Birdhouses for another Challenge–the one in the center is my own photo of a birdhouse I own.
I’m up to chapter 16 on You Had Me at Cougar. I had to make a lot of changes throughout because the story changes as I develop it. Five more chapters to go!
We’re going swimming this morning, daughter and baby and me. I usually swim for an hour before my daughter gets there and then she comes and I watch the baby while I write and she swims. Perfect for both of us. As long as we don’t have any storms. They’re supposed to be coming. But they’re always supposed to be coming.
Hope you have a lovely day. I’m nearly done with You Had Me at Cougar! Woohoo, then on to the next deadline book.
I think I finished it! You Had Me at Cougar is almost done. I’ve written it and edited it, but now I need to re-read it all the way through and see if I’ve forgotten anything or need to correct stuff.
Happy Fourth, everyone! We’re supposed to have a rainy day, so we’ll see how things go! I’m off to read and edit!

And of course, more to come!! I’m trying to figure out how to update my printable list with a pdf file, and on my Website, Word Press has changed things so I can’t upload photos. ugh. So I’m trying to figure out why.
After that, it’s time to write on Halloween Cougar Trouble!
So the rising cases of COVID-19…well, are rising. We figured a couple of weeks after Labor Day they would go up. The problem is that we have never gotten this under control. And so many are like done with it–done with the social distancing, wearing masks, now eating out, socializing, throwing parties. With nearly 200,000 deaths, when is this… acceptable? Non-existent? Just another case of the flu?
Tell that to those who are suffering from the effects long-term, or to those who have lost family members to it.
Okay, off my soapbox. I swear I’m not going to read the darn news. What I don’t know won’t kill me. Right?
We’re having rain and more rain, love it as long as we don’t have flooding from Tropical Storm Beta. But it’s cooled it down and I just love it.
I’m working on Cougar Halloween Trouble, and had disappointing news that Wolff Bros 2 won’t be coming out until January of 2022 now. But the good news is that I can write some more indie books to fill the void for next year. Right now, I’m working on cougar Halloween and then plan to write a full length cougar novel and a jaguar novella. I’ll have the Halloween novella done soon. The novel will probably be out in December. Jaguar? Maybe I’ll write that one right after Halloween cougar. I have started it, and I have a cover.
Have a great day and be safe! I’ve got to get to writing.
A thrilling romance from a USA Today bestselling author: The sexy and powerful Wolff brothers are finally settling into their new ski lodge when PI Josie Grayson arrives, hot on the trail of a dangerous criminal. Can shifter Blake Wolff convince her to let him help her — and prove that he’s her perfect mate?
PUBLISHER DESCRIPTION
The hot, powerful Wolff brothers have moved to the outskirts of Silver Town and opened a ski lodge. They’ve always wanted to live in a wolf-controlled area, and now they have their chance. They’re settling in for a quiet winter when their lives suddenly become way more exciting than they’d ever planned.
Private Investigator and Gray-wolf shifter Josie Grayson is hot on the trail of a dangerous criminal hiding out at the ski lodge when her partner takes ill and must leave her to pursue the mission alone. Blake Wolff steps in—he can’t resist the allure of this brilliant and focused she-wolf whose presence awakens a long-dormant yearning in his heart.
As pursuit of their quarry heats up, Blake has a mission of his own—to convince Josie that there’s more to life than work—and that she’s his perfect mate.
Okay, I think I missed posting yesterday. I’m confused on my days because I’m not taking care of my granddaughter 2 days a week since I work at home every day. It’s like one day melts into another. So I went to put out the garbage yesterday, but no one had the garbage out. Whoops. It was still just Wednesday. But today, I have to get it out.
I’m taking care of my granddaughter tomorrow because her parents are both working and she is clingy. My daughter is in charge of all the food distribution for the schools in the district and it’s been a real job, especially since they’re doing evening meals also and stressful. So Grandma needs to help out.
Anyway, so little one will be here with me all day. I still need to write.
Polar Bear Playing in the Water
Okay, I’m off to work. I need 4,000 more to be half way through minimum word count. That’s 40K.
Have a good day, as good as you can have in these trying situations. I am NOT going to look at the news today. Not until tonight. Let’s see how long that lasts. But I need to write and the news is so bad it’s making it difficult for me to concentrate on what I need to do.
Jan Nakutis: “When I was 40 I had this tattoo done on my ankle with the plan that when I was old and in my rocking chair I could look down and still feel like I could howl at the moon. Well, I’m 71 now, not anywhere near a rocking chair and I’m still howling at the moon 🌕.
All your books help keep me that way. “
Lizzy LaBare: “I honestly can’t tell you which series I enjoyed more… I am leaning towards the werewolves. Thank you so much for sharing them with us. I am still trying to get over the fact that my dream man/wolf lives in another woman’s head…lol”
I asked my readers if I could share their quotes on my blog today. It’s all about readers. They make my day!
Thanks to my blog readers and my book readers for making my year!
I am only 600 words behind today after being 11,000 words behind, so hope to finish that up along with my 2,000 words, and more, if I can come up with some ideas. I had thoughts last night when I was trying to sleep at 3 a.m. Now, if I could only remember them!
Have a wonderful, magical day and believe in your dreams!
Yesterday morning it was colder than I thought, but not cold enough to wear a full sweater, so I put on one I never wear that has three-quarter length sleeves. It’s a pretty shade of purple, but I have nothing to wear with it so I haven’t worn it for years and years. Usually I’ll put something like that on, take it off and wear something else. But I didn’t. Which isn’t like me at all.
So when I went to the post office, a UPS truck was parked across several parking spaces and I couldn’t get close. It was about to rain and I had a big box to ship for an item I had bought that wouldn’t work, so I parked by a pet supply shop that’s new but I never go into. I go to a family-run one or Walmart for pet supplies because the big store is too expensive.
After I dropped off the box, I headed back to my car, and the thought popped in my mind that the pet store might have a better pooper scooper than I picked up at Walmart. I didn’t find any, but then I saw collars and when I took the dogs in for their shots last week, I realized Max’s collar was way too tiny. He’d had it since he was a puppy. So despite normally picking up a collar at Walmart, that probably would have been less expensive, I found the least expensive one I could at the pet store and took it to the checkout.
The lady at the checkout counter tells me she loves my sweater. I figured she meant the pretty shade of purple. “The dragonflies,” she said.
They’re rhinestone and I hadn’t even noticed them when I put the sweater on. They’re more subdued. Like I said, it had been years since I’d worn it. “Oh, yes, I love dragonflies,” I said. (And purple!)
The woman was about thirty and she said, “My sister just died a couple of days ago.”
“Oh, I’m so sorry.” The comment was so out of the blue, I was kind of taken aback.
“She loved dragonflies. When my little boy saw a dragonfly yesterday, he said that his aunt was visiting them.”
“Oh.” And then it dawned on me. All the strange coincidences: buying new merchandise that wouldn’t work, deciding to take it back to the store before it poured rain, wearing a sweater I haven’t worn in years and years, being thwarted by the UPS truck so I had to park next to the new pet store I never thought I’d go into. Not finding the item I was thinking about buying there, but remembering another I needed to get, though I normally wouldn’t have bought it there. And then meeting the lady at the checkout counter whose sister had so recently died, who loved dragonflies and her little nephew saying he knew she was sending a message to them that she was with them whenever they saw one .
Rhinestones are actually crystal clear and these are very small.
And here I am with a sweater covered in them. Coincidence? Or was I guided to cheer up the clerk a little, a message to her sister that she was still there for her? The lady said she was telling her son when she got home that a lady wearing a dragonfly sweater came to see her, which would undoubtedly cheer her son too.
Coincidence? Or something more?
Okay, I’ve been bouncing my granddaughter on my knee, trying to write this, now off to feed her breakfast.
You never know when or how you might brighten someone’s day, but what a great way to start a day!
All I had to say to the cheetah to get that toothy grin was: Red meat!
That, and it’s all in the way you say it.
Off to write. Didn’t get any more than 241 words yesterday with the baby here. Couldn’t sleep last night. Was up pulling weeds in the muggy heat this morning, even at 7 am. I’m determined to get 4,000 words today. Will I? Heck, I was determined to get 1,000 words yesterday.
I just love this picture. These are juvenile cheetahs, and momma is in the background with another sibling. I love cheetahs, but to frame a smiling cheetah while a sibling stretches his body in front of him was pretty cool. The smiling cheetah reminds me of “Smiling Faces Sometimes,” by the Undisputed Truth. Yeah. “Smiling faces, smiling faces, sometimes they don’t tell the truth…”
